IPL 2024: CSK's Deepak Chahar 'admits confusion' in setting field under new skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowler Deepak Chahar has acknowledged that there's a bit of confusion for him while setting the field under new captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. Chahar made the comments after CSK's 63-run win against Gujarat Titans (GT) on March 26. Notably, Gaikwad has taken over the reins from long-time skipper MS Dhoni ahead of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.
"I got to look at Mahi (MSD) bhai and at Ruturaj - both of them these days for field placements and all. So there is a bit of a confusion where to look now but Ruturaj is doing well and he is leading the way," acknowledged Chahar after the match.

As of the match, GT could never get going in the chase of 207 and could manage only 143/8 in 20 overs. The 41-run stand between David Miller (21) and Sai Sudharsan (37) for the fourth wicket was the highest for them in the innings.
For CSK, Chahar, Mustafizur Rahman and Tushar Dehspande took two wickets each, while Daryl Mitchell and Matheesha Pathirana chipped with one apiece.
Earlier, CSK's Kiwi opener Rachin Ravindra gave his team a flying start by scoring 20-ball 46 and added 62 runs for the opening wicket with skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad. CSK never lost momentum in their innings, thanks to Shivam Dube's attacking 23-ball 51 before debutant Sameer Rizvi's 6-ball 14 cameo.

Rizvi came in to bat in the 19th over of the first innings and hit GT spinner Rashid Khan for a six on the first ball over square leg. The 20-year-old went on to hit Rashid for one more six in the same over before his innings was cut short in the final over by Mohit Sharma as CSK finished at 206/6 in 20 overs.
This was CSK's second win in two games and will next play against Delhi Capitals on March 31.
