Australia rode on Travis Head's 154 not out to beat England by seven wickets in pursuit of 316 in the first ODI, at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, of the five-match series on Thursday (Sep 19). Head was at his aggressive best from the word go, despite losing opener Mitchell Marsh (10) soon, as he stitched fifty-run stands with Steve Smith and Cameron Green, with both making 32 apiece, before putting on an unbeaten 148-run stand with Marnus Labuschagne (77 not out) to take Australia to a comprehensive win. With this, the visitors also took a 1-0 lead.
During his inning, laced withwith 20 fours and 5 sixesat a strike rate of 119.38, Head smacked pacer Jofra Archer for a huge six courtesy of a nonchalant flick over midwicket region. This happened on the first ball of the seventh over. Here is the video:

Archer started his spell by troubling Head but the latter didn't curb his natural instincts as the left-hander kept the scoreboard ticking, stitching 76 runs with Smith, for the second-wicket,and adding another 73 with Green, who came at No. 4.He then forged an impressive and unbroken 148-run fourth-wicket stand with Labuschagne as the duo kept the boundaries coming to take Australia to an easy winin 44 overs.
Earlier in the contest, Harry Brook-led England rode on Ben Duckett's 95, Will Jacks' 62 and vital contributions from the stand-in captain,Jamie Smith (23) andJacob Bethell (35) to post 315/6, however, it didn't prove enough. Labuschagne and Adam Zampa chipped in with a three-fers whereas Head also claimed two scalps. He eventually walkedaway with the Player-of-the-Match award following his sixth ODI ton.
This was Australia's 13th ODI win in a row as the current ODI champions will look to keep the momentum going in the second game, on Saturday (Sep 21) in Headingley, Leeds.
