India's wholesale inflation rises to eight-month high in November

The annual wholesale price inflation accelerated in November to an eight-month high, driven by faster rises in prices of food and fuel products, government data showed.

Inflation, based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI), had risen to a six-month high in October due to increase in prices of food, onions and vegetables.

The government data had showninflation in food articles more than doubled to 4.30 per cent in October.

In April, India's inflation stood at 3.85 per cent.

Last month, the Reserve Bank of India(RBI) had kept benchmark interest rate unchanged on fears of rising inflation while lowering growth forecast to 6.7 per cent for the current fiscal.

RBI also raised its inflation forecast to the 4.2-4.6 per cent range for the rest of the current fiscal as against 4-4.5 per cent previously.
