Ducati unveils limited edition Panigale V2 Superquadro

Ducati has announced the release of a limited edition Panigale V2 motorcycle, honouring the legacy of its renowned Superquadro engine family. The Panigale V2 Superquadro Final Edition, produced in a series of just 555 units, marks the culmination of over three decades of Ducati's 90° V2 engine development featuring desmodromic four-valve-per-cylinder distribution.

The Superquadro engine, first introduced in 2011 for the 1199 Panigale, has been a cornerstone of Ducati's superbike and supersport models. Its name, derived from the high ratio between bore and stroke, has set benchmarks for twin-cylinder power output. The engine's evolution has spawned smaller displacement versions, including the 955cc variant that powers this final edition.

This particular power plant, delivering 155 hp at 10,750 rpm and 104 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm, recently propelled Nicolò Bulega to Ducati's first Supersport World Championship title. The engine has also claimed back-to-back MotoAmerica Supersport titles in 2022 and 2023, cementing its competitive pedigree.

The Superquadro engine's technical innovations include Vacural cast crankcases, aluminium cylinder liners with NikaSil coating, and magnesium head, clutch, and oil pan covers. These features contribute to a compact and rigid engine design, integral to the bike's innovative monocoque frame chassis.

Ducati collaborated with Drudi Performance and its own Centro Stile to create a distinctive livery for the Superquadro Final Edition. The design incorporates Ducati's signature colours - white, red, black, and grey - with a technical drawing of the engine featured prominently on the fairing sides. A matte grey fuel tank provides contrast, while embroidered details on the seat add a touch of elegance.

The motorcycle's electronic package is based on a 6-axis inertial platform, offering riders advanced control systems including ABS Cornering EVO, Ducati Traction Control EVO 2, Ducati Wheelie Control EVO, Ducati Quick Shift up/down EVO 2, and Engine Brake Control EVO.

Enhancing the Panigale V2's performance are Öhlins suspension components and steering damper, adjustable Rizoma rider footpegs, and extensive use of carbon fibre for various body parts. The bike comes in a single-seat configuration with sports grips and features a unique dashboard animation and contact key.

For track enthusiasts, Ducati offers an optional kit for removing the licence plate and mirrors, along with a billet aluminium racing tank cap. The motorcycle is equipped with a GPS module for data acquisition.

Each Panigale V2 Superquadro Final Edition features a machined triple clamp displaying the individual unit number, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a personalised motorcycle cover.

This limited edition model not only showcases Ducati's engineering prowess but also serves as a collector's item, celebrating the Superquadro engine's significant impact on the world of high-performance motorcycles. As Ducati moves towards future powertrain technologies, the Panigale V2 Superquadro Final Edition stands as a fitting tribute to one of the most sophisticated twin-cylinder engines in motorcycling history.
