Republicans allege Democrats pulled off silent 'coup' on Joe Biden; blame Pelosi, Obama

The Republican party in the United States is alleging that the Democrats have staged a bloodless coup againstJoe Biden, after the US president ended his re-election campaign on Sunday (Jul 21). Top GOP leaders, including Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson, have said Biden didn't step down on his own and was forced to do so instead.
“The Democrat Party forced the Democrat nominee off the ballot, just over 100 days before the election,” Johnson wrote on X.
Obama and Pelosi blamed for 'coup'
Trump agreed to the theory, citing Biden's alleged frosty ties with ex-US president Barack Obama.
While speaking on Jesse Walter's ‘Primetime’ show, Trump said, "When Obama walked Biden out a couple of weeks ago off the stage, he didn't have to do that, he could have let him wave to the people a little bit longer... he was waving and all of a sudden Obama comes along, grabs him. Come on Joe. Like he was a child. It made him look so bad. And I know people with Biden, I know people with Obama and they were not happy about that. It made him look really bad."
Meanwhile, Senator Tom Cotton (Republican-Arkansas) wasof the view that the coup was staged by former House SpeakerNancy Pelosi and Obama.

"Joe Biden succumbed to a coup by Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, and Hollywood donors, ignoring millions of Democratic primary votes,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, Trump's vice presidentialpick JD Vance complained that Democrats should have just invoked the 25th Amendment and removed Biden in an appropriate way.

"If they want to take him down because he’s mentally incapable of serving, invoke the 25th Amendment," said Vance. The 25th Amendment deals with issues related to presidential succession and disability.
"You don’t get to sort of do this in the most politically beneficial way for Democrats. If it’s an actual problem, they should take care of it the appropriate way,” Trump's running mate added.
Such theories have been fuelled by the fact that Biden has yet to make any public appearance since he announced his withdrawal and has been issuing statements in writing.
A section of Republicans on social media is even pushing theories that the 81-year-old president might already be dead.
