Iran hatched plot against Donald Trump, claim US intelligence officials

The intelligence officials of the United States haverevealed that they had found evidencehintingat Iran plotting against the country's former president Donald Trump, as reported by CBS News.
However, intelligence officials have not been able to find any ties between Iran's plotting and 20-year-old shooterThomas Matthew Crooks' failed attempt to assassinate Trump. They have not been able to trace any foreign or domestic accomplice of Crook.
When they gathered information regarding the threat, the National Security Council reached out to the Secret Service.
The Secret Service in response increased the assets and resources required forprotection of Trump in June.

The additional resources provided included counter-sniper team personnel, Counter Assault Team personnel, robotic dogs and drones.
According to the report published by CBS News, it remains unclear how much of the Iranian plot was detected by the officials.
Iran's anger against Trump administration 'not new'
Trump has always spoken about the ire of the Iranians, especially after the 2020airstrike in which top Iranian commander Gen. Qasem Soleimani was killed.
"As we have said many times, we have been tracking Iranian threats against former Trump administration officials for years, dating back to the last administration," NSC spokesperson Adrienne Watson said.

These threats arise from Iran's desire to seek revenge for the killing of Qassem Soleimani. We consider this a national and homeland security matter of the highest priority," he added.
The Secret Service denied commenting on any specific threats, but stated that it "takes threats seriously and responds accordingly."

"The Secret Service and other agencies are constantly receiving new potential threat information and taking action to adjust resources, as needed," said Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi, in a statement.
The report was published at a time when theRepublican National Conventiontook place in Milwaukee.
Trump for the first time appeared in public on Monday night (July 15) after the incident with a bandage covering his right ear, as his nomination was formalised and he announced Ohio Senator JD Vanceas his running mate.
