Two peoplewerekilled and sixinjuredafter a man went on a stabbing spreein the southwestern Finnish city of Turku Friday, police said, adding that they had shot a suspect and warning thatseveral others could be at large.
"There are eight victims in the stabbing. Two dead and six injured," Turku police wrote on Twitter.
"I can confirm that eight people are in our hospital. One person is dead. The rest are in stable condition," Turku University Hospital director Petri Virolainen earlier told AFP.
In video footage of the incident, the attacker is seen shouting "Allahu Akbar" as he runs across a street.
An image showed a covered body lying on the ground, BBC reported.
On Twitter, police warned people to stay away from the city centre.

The incident reportedly took place in the Puutori-Market Square area.
"The government is closely following the events in Turku and the ongoing police operation. The government will meet later today," Prime Minister Juha Sipila wrote on Twitter.
The stabbing spree comes with Europe on high alert a day after drivers slammed into pedestrians in twin attacks in Spain,killing at least 14 people and injuring more than 100 others. The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the Barcelona attack.
