Finland's Environment and Climate Change Minister Sari Multala believes India can take proven circular-economy solutions and scale them into major business opportunities thanks to its vast market and manufacturing base. Speaking at the 10th World Circular Economy Forum in Gujarat, Multala stressed that circularity begins long before waste is generated—starting with product design, construction planning, reuse, and resource efficiency. As South Asia hosts the forum for the first time, the focus is on turning sustainability into economic growth.

Finnish President Alexander Stubb has praised Donald Trump’s impact on the NATO military alliance, calling him "a man of his own mind" who successfully forced European allies to boost their defense spending. In a freewheeling interview, Stubb outlined Helsinki's "pragmatic" relationship with Washington and emphasized the critical necessity of U.S. partnership in securing the Arctic against Russian hybrid threats.

Finland, the world’s leading builder of icebreakers, is constructing a new fleet for the United States as competition intensifies in the Arctic. The $6 billion deal will see 11 vessels built to strengthen America’s aging polar fleet, helping Washington counter growing Russian and Chinese influence in the region. But President Donald Trump’s past interest in acquiring Greenland and strained ties with Europe have raised concerns over the long-term political implications of the partnership. With climate change opening new sea routes and resource opportunities, the Arctic is fast becoming a new geopolitical battleground.

The Russia-Finland border is otherwise peaceful. "The main purpose of the fence is to control a large mass of people if they are trying to enter from Russia to Finland," the deputy commander of Southeast Finland Border Guard District, Antti Virta, quoted by Reuters.

Also read: Nepal Protests- Is Gen Z uprising backed by shady money?
