Delaware is the second-smallest state and the sixth least populous state in the US. It is also the sixth-most densely populated state in the US.

Historically, the state was considered a swing state, i.e., a battleground state — where both major political parties, Democratic and Republican, had nearly equal support among voters. However, in the 21st century, Delaware has become a deeply blue state and has provided double-digit wins to Democrats since 2008.
