<p>“I got an email through my website as an inquiry,” Dixon told ABC radio. “And at first glance, thought it was a phishing scam because I had absolutely no idea that the poppies that I was growing were questionable or illegal and restricted.”</p>

<p>Officers from the department of natural resources and environment took a sample of the flowers to the University of Tasmania for testing and determined they were of prohibited species Papaver somniferum, known as alkaloid or opium poppies, and <em>Papaver bracteatum</em>, known as Persian or Iranian poppies.</p>

<p>Dixon said she took “full responsibility” for not spotting the flowers earlier but said the seeds were widely available.</p>

<p>“I was just really shocked because I’ve seen these, I bought these particular seeds from a mainland seed supplier, and I’ve definitely seen these varieties available for local sale, I’ve seen them in people’s cottage gardens here,” she further told the ABC radio.</p>

<p>Later on her Instagram page, Dixon said she had bought seeds containing what she thought was Poppy Pink Frills or<em> Papaver paeoniflorum</em>, and a coral oriental poppy, <em>Papaver oriental.</em></p>

<p><em>Papaver paeoniflorum </em>is listed as a prohibited species in Tasmania. What Dixon thought were oriental poppies were actually the very similar-looking <em>Papaver bracteatum.</em></p>

<p>In a statement, the department of natural resources and environment confirmed it had removed 50 plants from Dixon’s property.</p>

<p>“The department appreciates the assistance of the property owner,” the statement said. “Where prohibited poppies have been found in a garden setting in the first instance our preferred approach is generally education, awareness and to engage with the owner.”</p>

<p>The chief executive of Poppy Growers Tasmania, Keith Rice, told Guardian Australia the rules on growing poppies in Tasmania were clear and urged gardeners and flower growers to be more careful.</p>

<p>“The government factsheets are very clear on what you cannot grow, it’s a very well-known crop in Tasmania and does not look very alike to the legal kind,” Rice said.</p>

<p>Tasmania is reportedly the largest alkaloid poppy producer in the world and supplies almost half of all global demand. The crops are strictly monitored, but there are frequent reports of people becoming sick after drinking “poppy tea”.</p>

In a statement, the department of natural resources and environment confirmed it had removed 50 plants from Dixon’s property. “The department appreciates the assistance of the property owner,” the statement said. “Where prohibited poppies have been found in a garden setting in the first instance our preferred approach is generally education, awareness and to engage with the owner.” The chief executive of Poppy Growers Tasmania, Keith Rice, told Guardian Australia the rules on growing poppies in Tasmania were clear and urged gardeners and flower growers to be more careful. “The government factsheets are very clear on what you cannot grow, it’s a very well-known crop in Tasmania and does not look very alike to the legal kind,” Rice said. Tasmania is reportedly the largest alkaloid poppy producer in the world and supplies almost half of all global demand. <p>On Thursday evening, the coast guard located a 28-year-old man in the sea about 20 miles south of Southwest Pass, Louisiana, after he reportedly fell overboard the New Orleans-to-Mexico Carnival valor cruise ship on Wednesday evening.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Carnival officials told CNN that the man was reported missing on Thanksgiving Day after he walked away from his sister at an onboard bar "to use the bathroom". The man never returned. Soon, his sister alerted the Cruise ship officials, following which the latter alerted the Coast Guard about the missing passenger. The Coast Guard swiftly launched a rescue operation.</p>

<p>"At 8:25 p.m., a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60 Jayhawk aircrew rescued the 28-year-old male who had fallen overboard from the Carnival Valor on Wednesday evening. The aircrew was vectored into the area by the bulk carrier CRINIS who had observed a person in the water. The Jayhawk aircrew hoisted the man onto the helicopter and transferred him to awaiting emergency medical services at the New Orleans Lakefront Airport," the US Coast Guard said in a statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A five-year-old Australian child survived an attack by a giant python in Byron Way, New South Wales on Thursday. The boy was bitten and crushed by a python the length of an average car that dragged him into a swimming pool.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the boy's father, Beau Blake (5) was reportedly swimming with his brother on Thursday when a three-metre long python latched on to Beau's ankle.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“We were sitting down watching them swim, just about to jump in the pool, and all of a sudden: bang,” Ben Blake, boy's father, told media-persons.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“(It was) like a black shadow came out of the bush.”</p>

<p>Once the snake had latched on, Beau rolled and fell into the pool, and the snake quickly curled around his legs. His 76-year-old grandfather jumped in almost instantly and lifted him out the next moment.&nbsp;</p>

As per the report, the company will charge customers USD 1200 excluding tax per year. With this, some of its vehicles will accelerate from 0-60 mph a second faster.</p>

<p>The move by Mercedes Benz follows one from BMW which launched a subscription service earlier this year for heated seats. BBC said that Mercedes does not plan to introduce 'acceleration increase' in UK currently. The subscription will however be available in the US for Mercedes-EQ EQE 350 and EQS 450 vehicles. Their SUV counterparts will be eligible for the subscription as well. However, no exact date has yet been officially announced by the company for the rollout of the subscription.</p>

<p>Customers and the public in general were surprised earlier this year when BMW announced 25 pounds monthly fee to unlock heated seats and steering in their cars.</p>

<p>This was not the first subscription option launched by carmakers. In 2021, Toyota&nbsp;had announced that it would charge USD 8 to some customers to enable them to start their cars remotely. In 2019, Elon Musk-led Tesla announced USD 2000 one-time fee to make its Model-3 cars accelerate from 0-60 mph half a second faster.</p>

Some are glued to the asphalt, and others ride their bikes across the shunting area, bringing air traffic to a standstill. Before entering BER, they informed the police."</p>

<p>Police in Mathura town of Uttar Pradesh in North India claimed that rats "ate up" 581 kg of marijuana, which was confiscated and stored in the warehouses at Shergarh in Bareilly district of the state. The astonishingly bizarre claim was made after a special court – under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (1985) – asked Mathura Police to produce the marijuana recovered in a case registered under the NDPS Act.</p>

<p>The additional district judge then ordered Abhishek Yadav, Senior Superintendent of Police, Mathura, to get rid of the "mice menace" and present proof that rats had indeed consumed 581 kg of marijuana, worth ₹60 lakh or $73,474.</p>

<p>The court has issued five-point directions for the auction/disposal of weed stored in police warehouses.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Time-bound action will be taken in compliance with the court orders," acting senior superintendent of police (SSP), Mathura, Martand P Singh, said in a statement.</p>

<p>Special public prosecutor Ranveer Singh said, "The SHOs of Shergarh and Highway police stations have claimed that 581 kg of weed stored in warehouses was destroyed by the rats. The cops have been finding it impossible to protect substances kept in the said storage areas. The court has ordered the police to produce evidence regarding the claim and set November 26 as the next hearing date."</p>

<p>The court, in its order dated November 18, referred to a case in which 581 kg of recovered weed was destroyed by the rats, as informed by the government counsel to the court.</p>

<p>"What we have found is an emperor. He was a figure thought to have been a fake and written off by the experts. But we think he was real and that he had a role in history," professor Paul Pearson of University College London, who led the research, was quoted as saying by BBC.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The coin was first discovered in 1713. It was thought to be a genuine Roman coin until the mid-19th century when experts suspected that they might have been produced by falsifiers of the time.&nbsp;</p>

He then contacted a Glasgow-based museum where it had been kept and asked if he could work with researchers there.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The findings of the research were published in the journal PLOS One. It asserted the authenticity of the coin about two millennia ago.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>So who really was Sponsian?</strong></p>

<p>The researchers say that Sponsian was a military commander who was crowned as emperor of the distant and difficult to defend province of the Roman empire called Dacia.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Combining evidence from the coins with the historical record, we suggest he was most likely an army commander in the isolated Roman Province of Dacia during the military crisis of the 260s CE, and that his crudely manufactured coins supported a functioning monetary economy that persisted locally for an appreciable period," the research noted.</p>

<p>The discovery is of particular interest for the history of Transylvania and Romania, and is being depicted as the moment that is literally rewriting European history.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The goldfish trait of endlessly whiling the hours away in small bowls and aquariums at people's homes, has become an entire identity-pointer of the typically orange ornamental aquatic creatures. But a British angler&nbsp;who went fishing at a fishery in France's Champagne stunned the world when he caught&nbsp;one of the biggest-ever goldfish.</p>

<p>The gigantic fish, nicknamed 'The Carrot' weighed a whopping 67 lbs (or 30 kg). The Carrot is believed to be over 20 years old. It was put in a lake at a fishery in France run by a British individual named Brit Jason Cowler when it was young.</p>

<p>The 42-year-old said: “I always knew the Carrot was in there but never thought I would catch it."</p>

<p>“I knew it was a big fish when it took my bait and went off side to side and up and down with it. Then it came to the surface 30 or 40 yards out and I saw that it was orange."</p>

<p>“It was brilliant to catch it but it was also sheer luck.”</p>

<p>He posed for photos afterwards before releasing it back into the water.</p>

British angler strikes 'The Carrot', 30kg massive Goldfish

<p>A London-headquartered auction company withdrew its plans to auction a <em>Tyrannosaurus rex </em>skeleton after revelations about alleged use of replica bones in the specimen came to the fore. The specimen was expected to fetch anything between $15 million to $25 million at its now-cancelled auction in Hong Kong later this month.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“After consultation with the consignor of the Tyrannosaurus rex scheduled for sale on 30 November in Hong Kong, Christie’s has decided to withdraw the lot,” a spokesman for Christie’s, Edward Lewine, said in a statement. “The consignor has now decided to loan the specimen to a museum for public display.”</p>

<p>Christie's spokesperson reasoned that his auction house believed that the specimen, if not auctioned, will ensure that the scientific community would "benefit from further study". The development came days after a South Dakota-based lawyer for a fossil company reportedly informed the auction house about similarities between Shen and another <em>Tyrannosaurus rex</em> skeleton, named Stan. Christie's had sold the specimen in 2020 for a record $31.8 million.&nbsp;</p>

Rare Dinosaur skeleton pulled out of auction after questions over authenticity

<p>A pocket watch belonging to a clerk who was in the massive ship Titanic that sank last century has been sold for £98,000 ($115,876) at an auction. The watch was sold at Henry Aldrige &amp; Sons in Devizes on Saturday (Nov 19), 110 years on.</p>

<p>Wood's body was discovered after 10 days. Among the&nbsp;treasured items, his broken watch was also found, which was then handed to his wife.</p>

<p>The watch's screen was smashed and his two hands snapped off. His frozen watch shows the time the ship submerged into the cold North Atlantic ocean. The Titanic reportedly sank at 21 minutes past two on April 14, 1912.</p>

<p>An ornate plate was sold for&nbsp;£20,000 ($23,648) and a section of a column from the&nbsp;'a&nbsp;la carte'&nbsp;restaurant was sold&nbsp;for £23,000 ($27,195).</p>

<p>Earlier, during an auction in 2017, a fur coat owned by a first-class stewardess was sold for&nbsp;£150,000 ($177,361). In the same year, a letter by a Titanic passenger Oscar Holverson was sold for £126,000 ($148,983).</p>

50-year-old Chinese man completes 42 km marathon while puffing cigarettes

However, a new study has revealed that compared to cigarettes, the drug may be tougher on the lungs.</p>

<p>The co-author of the study, Dr Giselle Revah, a cardiothoracic radiologist and assistant professor at the Canada's University of Ottawa, says there isn't much research into marijuana's impact due to the fact that weed wasn't legal until recently.</p>

<p>Revah said that the fact that you can judge if a person is a longtime or heavy cigarette smoker just by looking at their CT scan, made her wonder if marijuana which is commonly the second most smoked substance will show similar results.</p>

<p>However, she was surprised to discover that not much information exists on this.</p>

<p>The study included more than 100 people, including those who smoked weed, cigarettes and even some non-smokers. Of these, 56 marijuana smokers some of which also smoked tobacco, 33 who only smoked tobacco and 57 non-smokers.</p>

<p>It was discovered that of the weed smokers 75 per cent had emphysema, a lung condition that causes shortness of breath, while the figure was less at 67 per cent for tobacco-only smokers and just five per cent for non-smokers.</p>

<p>"The main message is that it may not be as safe as people think it is, and we need more information," said Revah as per US news.</p>

Of these, 56 marijuana smokers some of which also smoked tobacco, 33 who only smoked tobacco and 57 non-smokers. It was discovered that of the weed smokers 75 per cent had emphysema, a lung condition that causes shortness of breath, while the figure was less at 67 per cent for tobacco-only smokers and just five per cent for non-smokers. "The main message is that it may not be as safe as people think it is, and we need more information," said Revah as per US news. <p>Leicestershire Police staff gave her some water and a pat on her head before calling the number on her ID tag. Steve and Julie Harper, Rosies's owners, said that the 10-year-old Collie ran away at about 16:00 GMT. This happened when Rosie was on a walk with Steve and their other dog, Laser, at Southfields Park in the town.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Describing the incident, Julie Harper said, "She went and stood with her dad, which she does when she is nervous, and then skedaddled when the fireworks went off. She pushed herself through a hedge and went to the police station which is right next to the park."&nbsp;</p>

The officer had a look of astonishment and shock in equal measures as he learnt that Gopang sat upon $1.2 million to his name.</p>

<p>When quizzed by the local media about his transformation into an overnight millionaire, Gopang said he was equally shocked.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A report published by the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) in March this year revealed that<em>&nbsp;</em>Japan is the world's number one industrial robot manufacturer, delivering 45 per cent of the global supply.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per the report, Japan's robot suppliers have increased their production capacity considerably. Their export ratio rose to 78 per cent in 2020 and at that time 136,069 industrial robots were shipped.&nbsp;</p>

The developers of the 175-centimetre-tall android claim that its body movement is almost human-like. Kono is also seemingly impressed and jokes about how he will like to take his alter-ego to a budget committee meeting. “With parliamentary approval, I would let him attend a budget committee meeting." The main aim of developing such robots is to examine if social activities can be conducted remotely in the country which focuses a lot on individual privacy. Japanese Digital Minister Taro Kono has an alter ego robot

<p><meta name="uuid" content="uuidFHkcy7IyLumh" /><meta charset="utf-8" />A more than 40-year-old murder cold case could be solved after the authorities collected the DNA sample from under the fingernails of the murdered woman.</p>

<p>The straight-out-of-a-fictional-book plot has transpired in reality in Las Vegas, USA where Sandra DiFelice, 25, was brutally raped and murdered on December&nbsp;26, 1980.</p>

<p>Reportedly, after officers at Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department took another look at the case, they decided to use modern technology to test the DNA collected from under the fingernails of murdered&nbsp;DiFelice.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Consequently, earlier this week on Monday, the police announced that they had arrested Paul Nuttall, 64 on suspicion that he was responsible for the rape and murder of the woman.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“After Paul Nuttall was taken into custody, my cold case investigators had the pleasure of making the one phone call that every cold case detective wants to make,” said Las Vegas Police Lt Jason Johansson in a press conference.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“I am hopeful that in some way, shape or form this provides some sort of closure for the family,” added Johansson.&nbsp;</p>

<p>DiFelice's daughter, who was only three at the time was at her grandparent's home when the murder took place. In February last year, she called cold case detectives at the department and asked for an update in the case.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>As reported by WION, earlier this week as well, it was DNA testing that helped a wrongfully convicted man receive true justice.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Carter's House's dates back to 1911 when the Egyptologist built it as a residence for himself when he was conducting his search at the Valley of the Kings. He resided at the place until his death in 1939. The house's central hall, study and his photographic laboratory have been maintained till now.&nbsp;The items at his place were maintained for the next 100 years.</p>

<p>King Tutankhamen (Tutankhamun), the young pharaoh whose ancient tomb and opulent artifacts have fascinated generations since they were first discovered, become the most famous Ancient Egyptian pharaoh in the world, thanks to the incredible condition of his final resting place and the grave goods found alongside his body.</p>

<p>For many, "King Tut" is the ultimate symbol of ancient Egypt's glory.</p>

<p>Tutankhamun ascended the throne at age nine, and ruled till his death at age 18 or 19.</p>
