Too hot, too distracting? Paraguayan swimmer asked to leave Paris for wearing skimpy outfits

Paraguayanswimmer Luana Alonso is making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Luana, who participated in the Paris Olympics, was asked to leave owing to her "inappropriate" behaviour and for dressing in skimpy outfits in the village. The Paraguayan's Olympics journey ended after she failed to move past the 100m butterfly heats. Reports suggest that Luana's behaviour, her clothes, and interactions with other athletes were causing distraction within their camp. She has been accused of reportedly distracting competitors by socialising with them while dressed in revealing outfits.

She defied other orders as well, because of which she was kicked out of the Olympic Village. Luana got into trouble after leaving the village to visit Disneyland. Unlike Tokyo, competitors this time around can stay around in the village even if their games have ended. But Luana sneaking out for a personal trip to Disneyland did not go down well with Paraguayan officials. This incident acted as the final nail in the coffin for Luana who was called back. However, Luana has refuted reports that she was kicked out of the athletes' village.

The country's Olympic Committee chief Larissa Schaerer confirmed that she had been ordered to leave. “Her presence is creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay," Schaerer said. “We thank her for proceeding as instructed, as it was of her own free will that she did not spend the night in the athletes’ village.”

Luana took to Instagram and said, "I just wanted to clarify that I was never kicked out or expelled from anywhere, please stop spreading false information. I don't want to make any statement but I'm not going to let lies affect me either."

The swimmer, who is just 20 years old, has announced retirement. "I’m retiring from swimming, thank you all so much for the support!" she wrote on Instagram. "Sorry Paraguay, I only have to thank you! I am very emotional because it was my last race. I am retiring from swimming. I have been swimming for so long, 18 years, and I have so many feelings."

Luana is quite angry about the whole thing and has even said that she wantedto represent the United States at the games. Notably, Luana lives in America. “I want to represent the United States more,” Alonso allegedly said during a live video on social media before the Olympics, Paraguayan outlet HOY reported.

Slamming her teammates, Luana said she experienced tension with her Paraguayan Olympic teammates and higher-ups. She accused them of not “supporting" or “trusting" their athletes. “It’s not a pleasure to represent Paraguay and if it were up to me, I would go back to college,” she added.

Meanwhile, Luana also shared pictures of her time in Paris, including meeting tennis icon Rafael Nadal.
