The sexuality of the 16th president of the United States Abraham Lincoln has once again come under scanner and this time his apparent homosexuality is being explored in a new documentary.

The documentary "Lover of Men", which will be released on September 6, "examines the intimate life of America's most consequential president", says its website. In the documentary, it has been suggested that he had “steamy gay sex sessions” with males.

Its trailer, which dropped this week, featured many scholars and historians who spoke about the evidence which suggested that Lincoln was gay.

The documentary also featured intimate scenes between the actor playing Lincoln's role and other men.

The main evidence which is shown to hint at the queer identity of Lincoln is the letters claimed to have been written by him to his alleged male lovers.

"Dear Speed, I shall be very lonesome without you, love Lincoln," says one letter, which is said to have been written to Joshua Fry Speed as the trailer concludes.

It has been claimed that Speed was the most potential gay partner of Lincoln and that their friendship lasted till the president was assassinated.

Tesla owner Elon Musk, reacting to the documentary, wrote, “Everyone already knows he was a gay vampire!”

Meanwhile, one user wrote, "Interesting, and this isn't new information, it's been discussed for many years. Curious to see who you interviewed."

“Okayyyy this is a stretch lmao the man had a wife and kid. let the man rest in peace and keep his name out your mouth! lol,” commented a netizen.

Taking to X, a user wrote, "The abolition of slavery was gay,” while another said, “All the evidence adds up to the fact that he had male friends. That does not make one gay.”
