Ahead of their match against Mumbai Indians on Thursday (May 1), Rahul Dravid talked about the steps taken by the franchise prior to the season in order to make the young kid feel at home and how the support staff has been with the left-hand batter throughout.
"He has been very welcomed in this environment. One of the things we've tried to do is to just make him feel like he's integrated well into this environment. So, even after the auction, we had quite a few, three or four camps, short-duration camps nearly every month leading into this tournament. Vaibhav was there in every one of those camps, getting to know the players, getting to know the support staff, getting to know the coaches," said Dravid.
"By the time he came to the IPL, we wanted him to go and have met nearly each and every one of the players. Of course, not the four foreign players because he was meeting them for the first time. But certainly, all the Indian players he had met, he had known, he had met all the coaches, he had met all the admin support staff, everyone."
"So, I think around the system, we were very clear that we wanted him to feel comfortable by the time he came here. I'm sure he's having conversations and he's learning from each and every one of those guys, whether it's Jaiswal or whether it's Parag or whether it's Jurel or Sanju. He's a shy boy and obviously, he'll take some time to open up. But I think he's very comfortable here. At no stage, he feels like he's intimidated or he's holding back. So, I think there's been a bit of an effort gone into trying to ensure that we make him feel comfortable around the group," added the Royals' head coach.

However, Shastri joined former India opener Virender Sehwag to warn the kid to stay humble and accept life as it comes. Speaking on Cricbuzz after RR&rsquo;s fifth straight loss this season, Sehwag said Vaibhav must aim at playing 20 years in the IPL, taking inspiration from cricket great Virat Kohli.&nbsp;
However, he warned the youngster too, saying should if he thought of himself as a crorepati now, who has had a great IPL debut, and that the fans would remember him for this, he would be nowhere to be seen from the coming season onwards.

It was here, at the age of just five years, that Vaibhav Suryavanshi first picked up a bat under the watchful eye of his coach Brijesh Jha.
Speaking to WION, Brijesh recalled the early days vividly when Vaibhav came to him for cricket coaching. "He was only five-year-old when he came to me to take coaching lessons.&nbsp;Even as a small child, Vaibhav had something special &mdash; a strong left-handed technique and a hunger to learn. We focused on building a solid foundation, ensuring that he remained injury-free and give him as many opportunity and freedom to express himself through his game."
Brijesh goes on to explain that their academy specialises in developing children aged between 6 to 12. Vaibhav, with his early inclination towards batting, stood out quickly in his eyes.
&ldquo;By 9, just after the lockdown period, he was already showing great promise and had started trying out for state-level cricket in Bihar. His focus and attitude were always exceptional.&rdquo;
Although Vaibhav didn&rsquo;t make the U-16 team immediately, he remained on the radar. His breakthrough came through consistent performances in district-level domestic cricket, which propelled his journey forward at a rapid pace.
What&rsquo;s remarkable is that Vaibhav has never truly left the academy.&nbsp;"He still comes back and trains with us whenever he can. Even before moving to Rajasthan, he would practice here," said Brijesh with pride.
Interestingly, Vaibhav is not the first IPL debutant from the academy. The coach also mentored Anukul Roy (Kolkata Knight Riders), who had to shift to Jharkhand due to limited opportunities in Bihar.

&ldquo;As a coach, I don&rsquo;t interfere too much once the player is under the care of another team&rsquo;s coaching staff. I believe in giving them space. Here are the three records that Suryavanshi shattered on his very first day in the IPL: At an age of 14 years and 23 days, he has now become the youngest debutant in IPL history. Suryavanshi broke the previous record of Prayas Ray Barman, who debuted in IPL at the age of 16 years and 157 days in 2019 while playing for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Suryavanshi has also become the youngest player in IPL history to score a six off the first ball. The record previously belonged to Riyan Parag of Rajasthan Royals and he did so at an age of 17 years and 161 days. Lastly, Suryavanshi has also become the youngest player to have scored a four too.
