Israel-Iran conflict: Trump calls for diplomacy amid escalating tensions, speaks to Netanyahu, world leaders

US President Donald Trump will celebrate his birthday alongside the US Army's 250th birthday on June 14. A massive military parade has been planned in the heart of Washington, DC, in honour of the Army. Critics have accused him of spending $45 million on a military parade to mark his 79th birthday. The parade on June 14 is free to attend and will include thousands of troops, warplanes, horses, mules, parachuters, musical performances, celebrities, and a dog named Doc Holliday. However, thunderstorms along with ‘No Kings’ protest may play spoilsport for Trump's grand plans.
Weather predictions
“As we head into the evening hours, we do have to be concerned about at least thunderstorms in the area. If there is a thunderstorm obviously not only lightning would be a concern, but also, with all the humidity in the air, it can certainly have some downpours with it,” a meteorologist from AccuWeather told The Independent. Forecasts predict temperatures in the mid-80s, though humidity will make it feel several degrees hotter. “Rain won’t stop us, the tanks don’t melt, but if there’s lightning then that puts the crowd at risk,” Steve Warren, chief spokesman for the Army, told The Times. US President Donald Trump will celebrate his birthday alongside the US Army's 250th birthday. However, thunderstorms along with ‘No Kings’ protest may play spoilsport

Weather predictions “As we head into the evening hours, we do have to be concerned about at least thunderstorms in the area. He added that officials “will disperse the crowd and even cancel or postpone the parade” if lightning becomes a concern. “It will depend on the president, too, when he’s available,” Warren added. “It’s June in Washington DC. Trump was aware of Israeli strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities: Report

US President Donald Trump on Thursday (Jun 12) accused his predecessor Joe Biden's administration and California Governor Gavin Newsom of “flooding America with 21 million illegal aliens”. This comes amid the administration's rising tension with California authorities over Trump's order to deploy thousands of military personnel amid anti-immigration protests in Los Angeles. “The Biden Administration and Governor Newscum flooded America with 21 Million Illegal Aliens, destroying Schools, Hospitals and Communities, and consuming untold Billions of Dollars in Free Welfare. All of them have to go home, as do countless other Illegals and Criminals, who will turn us into a bankrupt Third World Nation,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. “America was invaded and occupied. I am reversing the Invasion. It’s called Remigration. Our courageous ICE Officers, who are daily being subjected to doxxing and murder threats, are HEROES. We will always have their back as they carry out this noble mission. America will be for Americans again!” he added. In a separate post, the US president said, “Incompetent Gavin Newscum should have been THANKING me for the job we did in Los Angeles, rather than making sad excuses for the poor job he has done. If it weren’t for me getting the National Guard into Los Angeles, it would be burning to the ground right now!” During a press conference on Thursday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem vowed a continued federal presence in Los Angeles and Southern California as immigration enforcement continues — and she warned that protesters who stir up violence will be arrested and prosecuted. Noem described protests that were transpiring in Los Angeles as “un-American.” “Masked thugs are assaulting police officers. They’re setting vehicles on fire. They’re waving foreign flags on American soil while burning American flags and they damaged public property and destroyed private businesses,” Noem said. “If you attack one of our law enforcement officers, we are going to come after you and we are going to arrest you, prosecute you and jail you,” she added.

Hundreds of thousands of people have been estimated to witness the parade in Washington. The Trump administration’s decision to deploy thousands of troops to Los Angeles has been met been heavy criticism by California authorities, who have called the president’s move “dictatorial” and “un-American”. The protests against immigration raids in Los Angeles have now spread across several other cities in the US. “The president supports the right of Americans to peacefully protest, he supports the First Amendment, but that is not the majority of the behaviour that we have seen taking place in Los Angeles,” Leavitt said. “We have seen mobs of violent rioters and agitators assaulting law enforcement officers, assaulting our federal immigration authorities.”

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass on Wednesday (Jun 11) said that the unrest in her city had been “provoked by the White House”, calling the deployment of troops “a drastic and chaotic escalation”. US President Donald Trump on Wednesday (June 11 ) praised a federal appeals court decision that upheld his sweeping tariff measures, calling it “a great and important win for the US.” The ruling, issued on Tuesday (June 10) by the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, allows the continuation of tariffs imposed by the Trump administration on “Liberation Day.” Trump imposed tariffs on a broad range of imports from key US trading partners, as well as separate tariffs targeting goods from Canada, China, and Mexico. 'Great win' for Trump: Tariffs to stay for now after US court's nod days after stating 'president exceeded his authority' In a post on Truth Social, the US president said, “A Federal Appeals Court has just ruled that the United States can use TARIFFS to protect itself against other countries. In declaring the tariffs, Trump had invoked emergency powers under a 1977 law. Tesla CEO Elon Musk, on Wednesday (June 11) said that he 'regrets' a few posts he made on social media in relation to the US President Donald Trump. In a post on X, Elon Musk said, “I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far.”

A feud erupted between the two following Elon Musk's exit from the White House. It all began when in early June, Musk denounced Trump’s key legislative proposal, the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’, calling it excessive and damaging, a 'disgusting abomination' that will explode federal budget deficits. The major reason for the fallout between Musk and Trump was the tax spending bill, which Trump calls “big and beautiful”, while Musk says it is “big and ugly.” The bill includes tax cuts, Medicaid reductions, and increased border spending and Musk claims that it would raise the national debt significantly. Musk took aim at the bill as “massive, outrageous, pork-filled…a disgusting abomination” that would “massively increase” the budget deficit. “Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.” Earlier, when asked if the Donald Trump administration would cancel the government contracts held by Elon Musk amid the feud, the US president said, "We'll take a look at everything. Los Angeles being invaded by ‘foreign enemy’: Trump claims ‘full-blown assault on peace’ in California

President Donald Trump’s decision to send troops to Los Angeles in response to immigration protests could cost the federal government $134 million, according to the Pentagon’s budget chief.Speaking before Congress on Tuesday (June 10), acting Pentagon comptroller Bryn MacDonnell said the estimate includes expenses for travel, accommodation, and food for thousands of service members now stationed in California.“Think of how much veteran nutrition assistance and housing he could be providing instead of dishonoring these troops using them as pawns,” California Governer Newsom wrote on X,
4,700 troops sent to California despite opposition
Trump has deployed 4,000 National Guard members and 700 Marines to assist local law enforcement, despite opposition from California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. California Governor Gavin Newsom has publicly denied US President Donald Trump’s claim that the two recently spoke, amid rising tensions over the deployment of federal troops to Los Angeles.Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said, “I called him up to tell him he’s gotta do a better job,” adding that Governor Newsom was “causing a lot of potential death.”But shortly after, Newsom contradicted the president on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “There was no call. Local authorities continue to insist the extra troops are unnecessary. “We have not reached the point where local law enforcement has got beyond its means to deal with the situation,” said LA County District Attorney Nathan Hochman in an interview with BBC Radio 4. He also noted that only a “small fraction” of residents were involved in protests, and even fewer were taking part in unlawful activity. The protests started on Friday following a new round of arrests by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Los Angeles. According to the Department of Homeland Security, 118 people were detained in LA this week, with the national average reaching about 2,000 ICE arrests per day. The raids have sparked public anger and prompted unified opposition from LA’s leadership. Mayor Karen Bass also criticised the enforcement actions, saying, “These tactics sow terror in our communities and disrupt basic principles of safety in our city… we will not stand for this.”

The federal government has now deployed 700 US Marines to the LA area. Additionally, the number of National Guard troops has doubled to 4,000 to help manage the demonstrations.
