While many parents don't end up supporting their kid's controversial career moves, actress Denise Richards often turns cheerleader for her daughter Sami Sheen and is always supportive of her.

While many parents don't end up supporting their kid's controversial career moves, actress Denise Richards often turns cheerleader for her daughter Sami Sheen and is always supportive of her. As her 18-year-old daughter created an account on OnlyFans, many wondered how her celebrity mom is going to react to it. And, unlike popular opinion, she has no complaints from her daughter and isn't angry with her for joining OnlyFans. The 'Wild Things' actress penned a long note on Instagram about Sheen's latest career move. While recalling her own risqué past, she spoke up in her daughter's defence on Friday. For those unaware, OnlyFans is a subscription-based platform popular for its adult content. "Lots of negative comments on my social this past week. I have to say, I wish I had the confidence my 18 yr old daughter has. And I also can't be judgmental of her choices," Richards wrote in a statement. "I did Wild Things & Playboy, quite frankly her father shouldn't be either." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Denise Richards (@deniserichards) Also read: Big clash! Pallavi, who is nowadays promoting her upcoming movie, 'Virata Parvam' compared Kashmiri Pandit's genocide to the lynching of a man suspected of cow smuggling. Now, as per India Today, a police complaint has been filed in Hyderabad against the actress over her controversial remarks.

This all started after her interview with the Youtube channel went viral. During the interview, Pallavi was asked whether she was influenced by any kind of politics during her college days, to which she replied she comes from a very politically neutral family and later compared the recently released movie 'The Kashmir Files' with the Muslim person who was killed on suspicion cow smuggling.

''I grew up in a neutral environment. I have heard about the left-wing and right-wing. But, I cannot say who is right and who is wrong. The film, The Kashmir Files, shows how Kashmiri Pandits were killed. Recently, there was an incident of a person being killed for carrying a cow because he was suspected to be a Muslim. After killing the person, the attackers raised 'Jai Shri Ram' slogans. What is the difference between what happened in Kashmir and what happened recently?"

After her video went viral, the actress received huge flak from some netizens, while others took her side and praised her for speaking her mind without any hesitation.

Some Twitter users also pointed out that there is no comparison between a Kashmiri Pandit exodus and lynching.

After her video went viral, the actress received huge flak from some netizens, while others took her side and praised her for speaking her mind without any hesitation. Some Twitter users also pointed out that there is no comparison between a Kashmiri Pandit exodus and lynching.
‘The Broken News' series, which premiered on June 10 has not only marked Sonali Bendre’s return to acting and a much-talked about OTT debut but also marked ZEE5 and BBC India’s first collaboration. And now a week post its release, the platform, the makers and the actors have all the right reasons to celebrate as ‘The Broken News’ became the most viewed original series of 2022 on ZEE5.

Helmed by Vinay Waikul, ‘The Broken News’ has gone on to clock 100Mn+ streaming minutes and 6Mn+ views in a week since its premiere. Centred around a pair of rival television channels operating out of the same Mumbai building, the 8-part series represents two opposing philosophies of journalism and immerses the viewers in the behind-the-scenes workings of a newsroom. It also addresses some pressing questions and reflects the current realities operating in the world's largest democracy.

Manish Kalra, Chief Business Officer, ZEE5 India said, “We are proud to be delivering on our promise of presenting real and relatable stories with “The Broken News”; a series which authentically showcases the complications in the world of news media. We are happy to have partnered with BBC India to deliver a fitting show which is in line with our content strategy of keeping the viewers at the centre of the business and are looking forward to more such successful collaborations in the future”.

Nimisha Pandey, Chief Content Officer, Hindi Originals, ZEE5 said, “The Broken News is very close to our heart and one of the most courageous shows we have created until now. Set in today’s contemporary world, it attempts to authentically depict the world of TV journalism and the era of breaking news in all its shades, making for an engaging and thought-provoking watch. It is heartening to see an encouraging response from the viewers, and it strengthens our belief that the audiences today are eager to accept complex storytelling and flawed characters. Director Vinay Vaikul has managed to successfully weave these complex characters into a compelling story, and it was an absolute pleasure collaborating with BBC India for this show. We could not have been happier to have phenomenal actors like Sonali Bendre, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Jaideep Ahlawat with a bunch of other fantastic actors to bring these characters to life.”

Sonali Bendre said, “I am overwhelmed with all the love we have received for The Broken News. The fact that our content has stirred conversation around the key theme is a sign of the connect it has made with the audience, which to me is the most important part. For me personally, the feedback and support I’ve received for my portrayal of Amina from audience and critics alike, has been amazing and I am very thankful for it. I’m so glad to be back doing what I love and I’m looking forward to what the future has in store. I could not have done this without the support of the amazing team at ZEE5, BBC India and our amazing director, cast and crew. I think reasons enough for a second season… what say?”.

Jaideep Ahlawat said, “I am overjoyed reading all the comments and reviews for The Broken News. I didn't expect for people to fall in love with my portrayal of the character of Dipankar Sanyal, given his flaws, but it's good to know that people have loved him despite that. I try to pick different characters to play each time I choose a project, and I am glad that the risks I took in playing this character have paid off with so many people. The challenge for every actor playing a flawed character is to make it believable and even likeable”.

Shriya Pilgaonkar said, “I am so overwhelmed by the critics appreciation and the audience love for my character Radha in The Broken News. I have received so many messages from journalists and news reporters that they truly connected to the story of the show and all the characters. I couldn’t have asked for more and I am so grateful for this creatively fulfilling experience”.

Mariah Carey sparkled Thursday as her peers inducted the beloved diva into the prestigious Songwriters Hall of Fame, part of a class that also includes Pharrell, Steve Miller and the Isley Brothers.

This edition of the gala that honours the composers behind pop culture's most indelible hits was years in the making after the 51st annual edition originally slated for 2020 was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

A true industry award and who's who of music, the Songwriters Hall of Fame gala foregoes a televised event in favor of a festive dinner and intimate concert.

But even without a broadcast, the Manhattan ballroom was glowing with star power, not least thanks to Carey, who strutted the stage in a glittering, curve-hugging gown as she accepted the coveted honor.

Carey -- whose songwriting talent has long been overshadowed by her elastic vocal range and pop star image -- doubled as the night's stand-up comedian, making light of her own reputation as high-maintenance, at one point donning sunglasses to make a point about the less than ideal lighting.

But she struck a more earnest note in celebrating her fellow inductees and songwriters more broadly, calling them "unsung heroes."

For artist Jimmy Jam, who along with Terry Lewis produced a slew of massive hits including for Janet Jackson, Carey is among an elite class of songwriters whose work is timeless.

"There's nobody that's more savvy than her, that works harder, that knows all the intricacies of writing and is passionate about it," he told AFP on the red carpet.

Carey chose self-taught singing prodigy Liamani Segura to perform at the ceremony in her honor, and the 13-year-old led the crowd through a medley of the Long Island-born singer's smashes including "Fantasy," "One Sweet Day" and, of course, "All I Want For Christmas Is You."

Earlier in the night, inductee Miller shredded through his space dream of a hit "Fly Like An Eagle," after being inducted by his friend, the actor Bryan Cranston.

"It's really the highest honor -- the most intellectual honor," Miller, 78, told AFP on the red carpet of entering the songwriting pantheon. "It means the most to me."

- 'Sense of direction' -

Miller's performance followed a showstopper of an opening from St. Vincent, who inducted the Eurythmics -- the duo comprised of Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart -- after delivering a spot-on version of "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)" that had Lil Nas X on his feet, a shock of blond curls bobbing atop his pale pink suit.

Lil Nas X accepted a special honor for gifted young songwriters on the night that also celebrated the songwriting talents of Rick Nowels, the songwriter behind megahits including Lana Del Rey's "Summertime Sadness" along with "Heaven Is a Place On Earth" and "Circle in the Sand" by Belinda Carlisle.

Motown icon Smokey Robinson lit up the room with a set honoring Mickey Stevenson, whose success includes the classic "Dancing In The Street."

And Usher joined artist of the moment Jon Batiste in celebrating The Neptunes -- the duo of Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo -- taking the audience through a hip-swaying medley of hits they wrote and produced including Usher's "U Don't Have To Call."

The ever-luminous Pharrell, wearing a showstopping cherry red leather suit, gave a lengthy ode to songwriting and advised young writers to push forward: "When that sparkle hits you feel it in your bone, you feel it in your body... you feel this sense of direction."

Earlier in the night, he told AFP it felt "surreal" to accept the accolade.

This year's gala comes at a time that the songwriting and publishing side of the music business that's oft-overlooked is experiencing roaring success, with catalogs seen as coveted assets for investors.

Jody Gerson, the Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Publishing -- which in recent years has acquired catalogs including those of Neil Diamond and Sting -- accepted the night's publishing honor, and praised the songwriters that make her work possible.

And Paul Williams -- the songwriting legend behind hits like "Rainy Days and Mondays" from The Carpenters as well as the Muppet classic "Rainbow Connection" -- hailed songwriting's ability to connect.

"People respond to what we create, and that's the biggest prize of all," he said in accepting the night's highest honor, a lifetime achievement prize of sorts for songwriters already inducted. "We feel a little less alone in this world, while sharing a stack of vulnerabilities and dreams and self-doubt."

"Endless love songs -- I mean I write co-dependent anthems, I'm sorry," he quipped. "'I won't last a day without you' is not a healthy thought -- I've done some therapy."

The last few months have been really hard for Justin Bieber and her wife Hailey Baldwin Bieber. First Hailey suffered a stroke and then Justin was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome which left his half-face paralyzed temporarily. Justin's news sent shockwaves around the world and his die-hard fans are continuously looking for every small update about Justin and his health.

Now, his wife Hailey, who herself is not been healthy lately, gave a health update during her recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she talked about their medical issues.

After Jimmy asked about their health crises, Hailey said: ''Everything is good. I'm doing okay. My health scare has, you know, we've moved on from it.''

Talking about Justing, she said, ''He's also doing okay. Obviously, it's been a weird turn of events the last couple of months and even the last few days, but he's okay and going to be totally okay.''

Meanwhile, Hailey, 25 recently during another interview on Live with Kelly and Ryan, said that she and Justin's recent health crises have brought them closer.

''We both are dealing with older illnesses for sure," she said via People. "Honestly the silver lining in the whole situation — what he went through, what I went through — is it really bonds you. I feel like we're closer than ever. It really brings us close. So I'll take that away from it." The model added.
Last week, Justin sent shockwaves around the world as he revealed that he had been diagnosed with a virus that left half of his face paralysed, which forced him to cancel some upcoming shows.

For the unversed, August 11 week is full of festivals and holidays - starting with the festival 'Raksha Bandha', Independence Day & Janmashtami.

Talking about the movies, Akshay's film revolves around the bond of brother and sister and Raksha Bandha is the perfect date for the movie.

Meanwhile, 'Laal Singh Chaddha' has been postponed multiple times first due to covid, then to avoid a big clash with Yash blockbuster movie 'KGF 2'.
Carter Pilcher, a veteran member of the Academy Awards & BAFTA voting committees had recently visited India to attend the prestigious Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF). At the festival, Pilcher, who is known for his love of movies and also keeps a deep knowledge of short films and documentaries, gave a masterclass to all the moviegoers and filmmakers about how they can make an Oscar-worthy movie.

India, one of the biggest producers of cinema worldwide is known to create films of various genres which are loved by the audience worldwide. Yet, when it comes to Oscars, Cannes and BAFTA, Indian films barely find a mention. So what is it that lacks in Indian cinema that doesn't make the cut?

During an exclusive interview with WION, Carter shared his MIFF experience and tips for enthusiastic Indian filmmakers with OSCAR dreams and what they can do to make their movies recognised on the international platforms.

Here are excerpts of the interview

1. How was your MIFF experience?

MIFF is a unique festival in Asia – it is one of the oldest and most extensive documentary festivals and also includes a very strong international and national short film program. There were many filmmakers here from across India and the world, and I particularly relished hearing about and seeing their films.

2. At the film festival, you presented a master class on 'What does it take to qualify a film for the Academy Awards.' Tell us more about it.

I was pleased to present a master class on “What it takes to qualify a film for the Academy Awards”, which is something -after 17 years of releasing each year’s Oscar-Nominated Short Film in theatres globally a few weeks before the Oscars- one becomes intimately familiar with! Short films are exceptionally relevant. The best directors and some of the best stories start in shorts.

3. Any message for Indian filmmakers with OSCAR dreams?

I think there are two key messages – one for filmmakers is to make sure that (especially in a short film) you make the best, most passionate story you can. The second was that it has been difficult for an Indian film to qualify since there are only two accredited festivals in India, but the Academy wants to see more of India’s greatest short films and we’re working closely with MIFF and other festivals to ensure more films get a chance to compete.

4. What future does Indian cinema hold in the eyes international audience?

This is an exciting time for Indian filmmaking, it is no longer dominated by the traditional Bollywood model, but real stories that transcend cultural borders are emerging. This is an amazing step forward. Over the next five years, these changes in the film culture should start producing some amazing new films. The world is waiting….!

5. Any Indian movie you watched recently and loved?

‘83’ – starring Ranveer Singh, which is about the 1983 World Cup Cricket Victory. It’s such fun, man overcomes all odds and it’s true. Plus, I enjoy Ranveer Singh and I think he brings real life to all his characters.

The ad which is doing rounds on the internet has garnered a mixed reaction from the fanbase. However, it is hard to imagine the sequel without lead star Chadwick Boseman, who played T’Challa, aka Black Panther, in the first film. Boseman died on Aug. 28, 2020, after his secret battle with cancer, however, it will be interesting to see how Ryan Coogler will take the story forward without the lead character.
