<p>“It was a great decision to bowl first after winning the toss. I felt the wicket got better as the day went on. It took a little bit of spin, it paid dividends. Nice to be a part of it, nice to play a role in all of that. He’s (Rohit Sharma) probably the unluckiest man in the world.</p>

<p>“Again, it's (fielding) something that I worked hard on. I couldn't imagine getting a hundred, couldn't probably imagine holding onto that one. Was great to hold on to that catch. <p>Mohammed Shami has been a revelation for the Indian Team in this World Cup, perched&nbsp;at the top of wicket-taking chart now despite warming the benches in the first four matches. Shami took this tournament by storm, picking 23 wickets in six games, including two five-fors and a record-breaking seven-wicket haul in the semis against New Zealand. Speaking with WION in an exclusive chat, former Sri Lanka coach Dav Whatmore echoed exact sentiments.</p>

<p>“Shami has been a revelation,” WION’s in-house expert Whatmore said ahead of the World Cup 2023 final.</p>

<h2><strong>Head reflects on challenge</strong></h2>

<p>“Didn't move from the seat for the last part. We knew how it was going to play, we had three or four days here. We haven't seen such spin, we knew we had to battle. I thought I wasn't going to be here (after the hand injury), but I am happy to contribute for Australia, nice to be here. Straight as they came (Klaasen dismissal),” Head said while speaking in the POTM presentation.</p>

<p>It was a close call between the traditional rivals as Australia won by three wickets while chasing 213 at the Eden Gardens.</p>

<p>They won with 16 balls to spare but needed a good helping hand from the tailenders to reach the final. David Warner (29) and Travis Head (62) made sure the five-time champions got off to a perfect start with a 60-run stand.</p>

<p>However, successive wickets jolted their momentum but Steven Smith (30) and Josh Inglis did enough to get the Aussies over the line. Marnus Labuschagne also scored an important 18 while South Africa bowlers were in little mood.</p>

<p>Head also took apart Trent Boult, hitting him for 19 runs in 10 balls with three fours and one six. Mitch Santner, arguably the best Kiwi bowler, was also taken to cleaners by the southpaw as the left-arm spinner got hit for 19 runs in 11 balls.</p>

<p>All-rounder Rachin Ravindra bowled the most deliveries - 16 - to Head and went for 26 runs. Only Glenn Phillips could restrain the explosive batter, giving away just 11 runs in 12 balls and taking his wicket as well. Apart form these, Head scored rest of his seven runs off Lockie Ferguson's four balls he faced.</p>

<p>Thanks to the blitzkrieg by the openers, Australia were able to impose a huge total of 388 runs in 49.2 over before being bowled out.</p>

<p>"Everything keeps going well, but again, it's [about] how I woke up this morning. It's how I can potentially back up tomorrow and train.</p>

<p>"Still a few things I need to tick off but I'm optimistic. We'll see what happens. If it continues at this rate, who knows? Keep doing things day-by-day to hopefully give yourself the best chance,” Head added.</p>

<p>Revealing more on this following the Johannesburg One-Day, McDonald said the management would keep a tab on Head’s recovery status, but the main task would be to take a call on his CWC fate.</p>

<p>Alongside Matthew Short, Marsh helped Australia chase 168 inside 15 overs with eight wickets in hand. However, during the final match at the Kingsmead, he got out on 15.&nbsp;<br />
His exploits in the shortest format have given Australia the selection headache as to where to make him play and utilise his form during the marquee event in India, beginning on October 5.</p>

<p>While Australia will play eight ODIs before their CWC opener against India on October 8 in Chennai, those matches will provide a clearer picture. Speaking on the same line, Australia’s stand-in coach Michael di Venuto said,</p>

<p>"I think yesterday it really helped. It put a lot of pressure back on the bowlers. Probably got them off their lengths a little bit. It translated to how they were bowling to me as well. I thought in the middle session, bowling perhaps a bit too short, probably didn't challenge the top of the stumps enough. I thought that came from the way Travis was playing and the pressure he was putting on them. So it was a nice partnership,” Smith said in the pre-day interview.</p>

<p>On Day 2 at the time of writing, the Aussies were 410/7 as Indian bowlers once again dominated the first hour as they scalped wickets to stamp their authority. Mohammed Shami, Siraj, and Shardul took two wickets each while Mitchell Starc was run out on 5.</p>
