After India's loss to South Africa in their Super 12 clash in the T20 World Cup, in Australia, a huge controversy broke out. A&nbsp;housekeeping staff member at the Crown in Perth shared a video of Virat&nbsp;Kohli's room and shared it on social media. This led the former Indian captain fuming and has prompted reactions from many in the cricketing fraternity.&nbsp;

In the run-up to India's face-off versus Bangladesh, at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide on Wednesday (November 02), former Indian opener Sunil Gavaskar also joined in and shared his take on the matter, criticising the staff's behaviour.

"Definitely yes. Today, with these phone cameras, there is a very thin line between your privacy and where you are in the public domain. Sometimes you are sitting in the car as well, going to a match or maybe not going to a match, and when a camera is inside and trying to take you. Is that an invasion of privacy? I don't know,"&nbsp;Gavaskar told India Today in an exclusive interview.

"But I think in your hotel room? Yes 100 percent, you need that privacy. Nobody should be doing what was done. I didn't see the video but I heard about it and I think it is simply not done," the Little Master&nbsp;added.

While resharing the video posted by the hotel staff, Kohli wrote on Instagram, "I understand that fans get very happy and excited seeing their favourite players and get excited to meet them and I’ve always appreciated that."

"But this video here is appalling and it’s made me feel very paranoid about my privacy. If I cannot have privacy in my own hotel room, then where can I really expect any personal space at all?? I’m NOT okay with this kind of fanaticism and absolute invasion of privacy. Please respect people’s privacy and not treat them as a commodity for entertainment," the 33-year-old&nbsp;added.

Following Kohli's revelation, the Crown Resorts, where the Indian team stayed in Perth, stated, "The safety and privacy of our guests is our number one priority, and we are incredibly disappointed this incident has occurred. We unreservedly apologise to the guest involved and will continue to take the necessary steps to ensure this remains an isolated incident."

"We have zero tolerance for this behaviour, and it falls well below the standards we set for our team members and contractors. Crown has taken immediate steps to rectify the issue. The individuals involved have been stood down and removed from the Crown account, and the original video was swiftly removed from the social media platform," it added.

"Crown is conducting an investigation with the third-party contractor and will take any further steps necessary to ensure an incident of this nature does not happen again. We are also co-operating with the Indian Cricket team and the International Cricket Council to convey our apologies and will continue to work with them as we progress the investigation," the statement added.

Ahead of India's crucial Super 12 clash versus Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup, head coach Rahul Dravid reacted to BCCI chief selector Chetan Sharma's recent remark, where he claimed that Team India&nbsp;will win the mega event in Australia.

After BCCI announced India's squads for the forthcoming tour of New Zealand and Bangladesh, which will take place after the T20 WC Down Under, Sharma addressed a virtual presser. He was asked to comment on India's team selection and whether they should play Rishabh Pant or Dinesh Karthik.&nbsp;

To this, Sharma said, "Tournament k andar selection committee ko koi comment nahi karna chahie. (I should refrain from commenting&nbsp;on team selection during a tournament) That is the call of the captain, coach and team management. After the World Cup, when we sit and discuss, I will definitely comment on that. It will be wrong for me to say anything in the middle of the tournament. I'm with the team. I'm watching. We are performing brilliantly and we will win the World Cup."

Dinesh Karthik suffered an injury while keeping wickets during India's low-scoring thriller versus South Africa in the Men's T20 World Cup 2022, on Sunday (October 30) in Perth. After two successive wins, Rohit Sharma-led Men in Blue locked horns with Temba Bavuma's South Africa and managed only a modest 133 for 9, riding on Suryakumar Yadav's 40-ball 66.

In reply, the Proteas slipped and were reduced to 40 for 3 before fifties from Aiden Markram (52) and David Miller (59 not out) propelled them to a five-wicket win in the last over. During the run-chase, Karthik suffered&nbsp;a cramp on his back&nbsp;and left&nbsp;the field with&nbsp;Rishabh Pant donning the gloves in the final&nbsp;overs.

Ahead of India's next game, where they take on Bangladesh at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide on Wednesday (November 02), head coach Rahul Dravid spilled the beans on Karthik and gave an update. In the pre-match presser, the former Indian captain said, "He's pulled up pretty well today. Unfortunately, he had that spasm when he jumped to collect a bouncer and then he landed badly, in a way that he did his back in a little bit. But with treatment and some days, he's pulled up pretty well this morning. He's come to training and so, we will be assessing it."

"We will see how it goes and how he pulls up tomorrow morning after a good practice session today. We will put him through his paces and ensure that we have given him a good workout and then see how he pulls up tomorrow morning before making a final decision,"&nbsp;Dravid added.

Karthik has played his best T20I innings versus the Bangla Tigers, during the 2018 Nidahas Trophy final (wiht an unbeaten 8-ball 29*). Hence, he will be desperate to regain fitness and also return to his scoring ways after no such worthy contribution with the bat so far in the competition.

Apart from the NZ T20I squad, BCCI also named India's ODI squad for the series versus the Kiwis and the ODI, Test squad for the Bangladesh tour, which will commence in December.

Chetan Sharma opines on Rohit, Kohli's future for 2024 T20 WC, reveals where they went wrong with Bumrah

India lost to South Africa by five wickets in their third Super 12 clash at the Men's T20 World Cup on Sunday (October 30) at the Perth Stadium, Perth. Batting first, India managed only a paltry 133-9 riding on Suryakumar Yadav's 40-ball 68.&nbsp;In reply, SA were 40-3 in ten overs before fifties from Aiden Markram and David Miller lead their side to a win in 19.4 overs as they now occupy the top spot in their group. After the loss, many pointed fingers at Rohit Sharma for choosing R Ashwin to bowl the 18th over, with SA still in need of 25 off the final 18 balls. While Ashwin removed Tristan&nbsp;Stobbs, he conceded two sixes to bring down the equation in favour of the Proteas.&nbsp;

Many thought Hitman had irked with his tactics by not giving the ball to Md Shami or Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the 18th over (with both pacers left with an over each). At the post-match presentation, Rohit explained the thought process behind his move and said, "I've seen what happens with the spinners in the last over, so I wanted to go the other way. If I can finish Ash, I just wanted to make sure that the seamers are bowling the right overs. You have to use it at some point. With the new batter, it was the perfect time for him to bowl. Miller played some good shots as well."

During India's defence, Arshdeep Singh (2 for 25), Md Shami (1 for 13) and Hardik Pandya (1 for 29) were the most effective bowlers whereas Bhuvi also remained economical, raising questions with his swing. However, Ashwin went for plenty as Markram-Miller went after him to ease the pressure. The wily off-spinner ended with 4-0-43-1 but could've gotten the wicket of Markam, in the 12th over, had Virat Kohli held onto a simple catch at the deep.

T20 WC: Rohit Sharma explains thought process behind giving the ball to R Ashwin in 18th over vs SA

Team India conceded their first game in the Men's T20 World Cup 2022 edition, losing to South Africa by five wickets at the Perth Stadium, Perth on Sunday (October 30). Batting first on a spicy wicket, Rohit Sharma-led India never got going and were reduced to 49 for 5 in no time before Suryakumar Yadav's gutsy and entertaining 40-ball 68 propelled India to 133-9 in 20 overs. In reply, SA were tottering at 40-3 at the halfway stage before the fifties from Aiden Markram (52) and David Miller (59 not out) took their side home in the last over. With the win, the Temba Bavuma-led Proteas now occupy the top spot in Group B.

Talking about India, the one-time winners' campaign is still on track and they very much remain in the race to seal a semi-final spot. Given India started their campaign with two back-to-back wins, they have four points from three games and will now face Bangladesh (November 02) and Zimbabwe (November 6) in their last two group stage encounters. After the defeat to South Africa, India is likely to end in the second spot and qualify for the last four.&nbsp;

While anything can happen in the remaining matches at the T20 WC, there are quite a few incredible patterns for Team India which indicate that they might have the final laugh at the ICC event in Australia. Here's a look at such factors which point out that it might be Rohit &amp; Co.'s T20 WC:

1) The last time India successfully defended a score versus Australia in a warm-up game prior to the World Cup was in 2011. Ahead of the 2011 ODI WC, MS Dhoni's India dismissed Australia for a paltry 176 after posting 214, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. In the run-up to the T20 WC 2022 Down Under, the Men in Blue did the same by defending a competitive score, 186 for 7, by six runs. Will 2011 heroics repeat this time around?

2) Ireland defeated England in the group stage of the T20 WC 2022 edition on October 26, at the MCG, Melbourne. The last time the Irish side defeated the Three Lions in a World Cup was in 2011. Well, we all know which side walked away with the mega title.&nbsp;

3) The last time SA defeated India in an ICC event came in the 2011 ODI WC. Back then, the Proteas defeated India with two balls to spare. On Sunday (October 30), Bavuma &amp; Co. also won in 19.4 overs.&nbsp;

4) The last time India faced the Netherlands in an ICC event was also in 2011. Before that, they had faced them during the 2003 edition of the 50-over World Cup. So, whenever India have faced the Dutch line-up, they have reached the finals; winning the championship in the last instance.

After India's defeat versus the Proteas, captain Rohit said at the post-match presentation, "We expected that the pitch will have something in it. We knew that there'll be a lot of help for the seamers, that's why it wasn't an easy target to chase. We fell a little short with the bat. We fought well, but South Africa were better today. When you see that score (40/3 in 10), you'll always think you're in the game. That was a match-winning partnership from Markram and Miller. We were a little poor in the field, we gave so many chances and we weren't clinical. We were just not good enough."

Talking about India, the one-time winners' campaign is still on track and they very much remain in the race to seal a semi-final spot. Given India started their campaign with two back-to-back wins, they have four points from three games and will now face Bangladesh (November 02) and Zimbabwe (November 6) in their last two group stage encounters. After the defeat to South Africa, India is likely to end in the second spot and qualify for the last four. While anything can happen in the remaining matches at the T20 WC, there are quite a few incredible patterns for Team India which indicate that they might have the final laugh at the ICC event in Australia. Here's a look at such factors which point out that it might be Rohit & Co.'s T20 WC: 1) The last time India successfully defended a score versus Australia in a warm-up game prior to the World Cup was in 2011. 2) Ireland defeated England in the group stage of the T20 WC 2022 edition on October 26, at the MCG, Melbourne. The last time the Irish side defeated the Three Lions in a World Cup was in 2011. Well, we all know which side walked away with the mega title. 3) The last time SA defeated India in an ICC event came in the 2011 ODI WC. Back then, the Proteas defeated India with two balls to spare. On Sunday (October 30), Bavuma & Co. also won in 19.4 overs. 4) The last time India faced the Netherlands in an ICC event was also in 2011. Before that, they had faced them during the 2003 edition of the 50-over World Cup. So, whenever India have faced the Dutch line-up, they have reached the finals; winning the championship in the last instance. ALSO READ | T20 WC: Rohit Sharma rues missed chances against South Africa, says 'we were just not good enough' After India's defeat versus the Proteas, captain Rohit said at the post-match presentation, "We expected that the pitch will have something in it.

Four incredible patterns that suggest India might lift the T20 World Cup 2022 trophy

In pursuit of a modest 131, in Perth, Babar Azam-led Pakistan were 88 for 3 in 13.3 overs before they collapsed and were restricted to 129 for 8 to lose by one run in their Super 12 clash versus Zimbabwe in the T20 World Cup, on Thursday (October 27).

After a last-ball defeat at the hands of arch-rivals India, many expected Pakistan to get off the mark in their face-off versus the Craig Ervine-led African side. However, the lowly-ranked side opted to bat first and only managed 130/8 but&nbsp;kept fighting hard and held their nerves to go past the 2009 winners by a run on the last ball of the epic clash.

Following Pakistan's shocking defeat, many former cricketers have slammed the Men in Green team management. Shoaib Akhtar, known as the Rawalpindi Express, also lashed out at his national side and also predicted India's fortunes in the mega event in Australia. While Rohit Sharma &amp; Co. are at the top of Group B, Akhtar feels Pakistan will return home next week and India will follow suit after a semi-final defeat.

"I had already told Pakistan that they will come back this week. And India will come back next week after playing in the semi-final. Voh bhi koi Tees Maar Khan nahi hai (India are also not some unbeatable side) and we are even worse," Akhtar said on his YouTube channel.

Akhtar then shifted his focus on Team Pakistan's flaws and said, "I have been saying this repeatedly, these openers, the middle order aren’t good enough for us to get success at this level. What can I say? Pakistan have a bad captain. Pakistan is out of the world cup in the second game. Against Zimbabwe. Babar, come one down but he is not listening. Major flaw in Shaheen Afridi’s fitness. A major flaw in captaincy."

A dejected Akhtar further opined, "What kind of cricket do you want to play? For god’s sake, you have lost to Zimbabwe. Don’t you understand your cricket is deteriorating? The management and the PCB chairman don’t have brains … We had to play 4 bowlers, and we played 3 fast bowlers. A proper middle order is needed, you are selecting something else."

The former pacer was also unimpressed with Pakistan going ahead with Shan Masood and overlooking Fakhar Zaman. Masood has had scores of 52 not out and 44&nbsp;in the two games.

"Two good openers were needed who can use the 30-yard circle. Fakhar Zaman is sitting there; you didn’t use him. He is a back-foot player, and would do well in Australia…It’s really really embarrassing. Ultimately, it’s not you but we have to face the media. We have to sit in India. We have to give answers to the world. What answers can we give now? No plans, no middle order, no openers … I was saying if Zimbabwe bowled length balls, they would win here. I don’t have trust in this team," Akhtar added.

At the post-match presentation, Babar said, "We would have taken 130 at the halfway stage. Very disappointing performance, we are not up to the mark in batting. We have good batters but both openers got out in the powerplay. When Shadab and Shan were building partnership, unfortunately Shadab got out and then back-to-back wickets that pushed us into pressure situation. First 6 overs, we haven't used the new ball well but we finished well with the ball. We will sit out, discuss our mistakes and we will train hard and come back strong in our next game."

T20 WC: India not an unbeatable side, we are even worse, says Shoaib Akhtar after Pakistan lose to Zimbabwe

India and Pakistan produced a humdinger of a clash when they locked horns in the Super 12 round of the Men's T20 World Cup (T20 WC) on Sunday (October 23), at the iconic MCG, Melbourne. Bowling first, India restriced Pakistan for 159-8 riding on three-wicket hauls from Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya.&nbsp;

In reply, India were on the back foot and tottering at 31 for 4. Virat Kohli (82 not out) and Hardik (37-ball 40) revived the run-chase with an impressive 113-run fifth-wicket stand before the last over started with India needing 16 for a win. Hardik fell and Dinesh Karthik also returned back to the pavillion, with India requiring two from the final delivery.&nbsp;

R Ashwin came out in the middle. Holding his nerves, Ashwin confidently left a delivery from Md Nawaz, which was called a wide to level the scores. After that, he smacked a four on the last ball of the contest to take India to a famous four-wicket win at the jam-packed stadium.

Recalling that Nawaz delivery which was a wide, Ashwin hilariously stated on BCCI.TV during an interaction with&nbsp;Hrishikesh Kanitkar, "If that ball of Nawaz turned and hit my pad then only one thing I do was back to dressing room and picked my Twitter and write 'Thank you so much, It was wonderful my cricketing career and Journey and thank you all (laughs)'."

Team India started their T20 World Cup 2022 edition with a memorable win over arch-rivals Pakistan at the iconic MCG, Melbourne on Sunday (October 23). Having won the toss and opting to bowl first, India rode on three-fers from Arshdeep Singh and all-rounder Hardik Pandya to restrict Pakistan to 159 for 8.

In reply, India were tottering at 31 for 4, losing their skipper Rohit Sharma (4) and vice-captain KL Rahul for cheap. However, Virat Kohli produced a masterclass, 82 not out off 53 balls, and was well-supported by Hardik (40) to take India past the finish line courtesy of a four from R Ashwin's blade on the last ball of the contest. Now, the action shifts to the Netherlands face-off as India will aim to keep their winning streak alive.

India will take on the Dutch line-up, at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), Sydney. This will be the first face-off between both sides in the format. So far, India have faced Netherlands twice in ODI World Cup -- in 2003 and 2011. Hence, a new challenge will be infront of the Indian team when they take the field versus the Netherlands line-up.

Given Ireland stunned 2010 winners England on Wednesday (October 26), India won't take the Netherlands lightly. With no experience of playing them whatsoever in the format, India will start cautiously before trying to explode. As per the conditions, a used pitch will be on offer for the India-Dutch encounter, given it is the second encounter of the day (after South Africa vs Bangladesh). A similar sort of pitch can be expected, as it was in the Super 12 opener featuring Australia and New Zealand, but with lesser bounce. Thus, slower bowlers can come to play. Toss will be crucial and the captains can look to bat first, on a surface which might get slower. However, with rain forecast, bowling first is also an option.

Kohli has as many as 12 half-centuries in the format with an astonishing average of 89.90. Meanwhile, Indian captain Rohit also moved up the ladder to go past Tillakaratne Dilshan (897) to take the fourth spot after his 39-ball 53-run-knock versus the Dutch line-up.

At the post-match presentation, Rohit said, "Lucky for us, we had a few days to get over that special win. As soon as the game got over, we came to Sydney and regrouped. We have to move on now, and the focus was on this game where we wanted to come out and get those two points. I thought it was a clinical win. Looking at the way they have qualified for the Super 12s, credit to them. We however always looked to what we can do with ourselves, not bother about the opposition. To be honest, this was a near perfect win. Yes, we played a little slow at the start but that was the conversation between me and Virat, we had to wait on that surface to play the big shots. Not too happy with my fifty, but what's important is getting runs - doesn't matter if they are good looking runs or ugly runs. At the end of the day, it is about keeping the confidence up."

IND vs NED: Kohli becomes 2nd highest run-getter in T20 WC, moves closer to Jayawardene's tally

Team India faced the Netherlands in their second Super 12 clash at the Men's T20 World Cup (T20 WC) on Thursday (October 27). Playing at the Sydney Cricket Ground, SCG, Rohit Sharma-led India produced a clinical performance to go past the Dutch line-up by 56&nbsp;runs.

Opting to bat first, India were off to a slow start and lost vice-captain KL Rahul (9). While he was trapped lbw, had he taken the decision upstairs, it would've allowed him to continue his inning. However, Rohit was joined by in-form batter Virat Kohli as the duo tried to accelerate after India only managed 32&nbsp;for 1 in the first six overs.

Rohit took on the likes of&nbsp;Bas de Leede and Logan van Beek to up the ante and took the score to 67 for 1. From thereon, he attacked&nbsp;Tim Pringle&nbsp;and reached the 50-run mark, second by an Indian in T20 WC, and also achieved the massive feat of having the most sixes by an Indian in tournament history. Against the run of play, he was dismissed for 53.

Following his departure, Suryakumar Yadav and Kohli stitched an impressive and unbeaten 95-run third-wicket stand as India posted 179-2 in 20 overs. SKY scored the fourth-fastest fifty by an Indian in the T20 WC whereas Kohli continued his merry run, scoring an unbeaten 44-ball 62.&nbsp;

In reply, the Netherlands' line-up was never in the run-chase. Bhuvneshwar Kumar started with two successive maiden overs whereas the likes of Md Shami, Axar Patel, and R Ashwin dented the run-chase with regular strikes. Axar and Ashwin contained the run-flow whereas&nbsp;the inexperienced Dutch batters struggled to rotate and score freely.

India's fielding was upto the mark whereas the Rohit-Rahul Dravid-led team management will be satisfied with the bowling effort as well. It was a disciplined performance from the one-time winners, who now atop their group with four points from two games.

From thereon, he attacked Tim Pringle and reached the 50-run mark, second by an Indian in T20 WC, and also achieved the massive feat of having the most sixes by an Indian in tournament history. Against the run of play, he was dismissed for 53. ALSO READ | IND vs NED: Rohit Sharma goes past Yuvraj Singh to become India's leading six-hitter in T20 WC Following his departure, Suryakumar Yadav and Kohli stitched an impressive and unbeaten 95-run third-wicket stand as India posted 179-2 in 20 overs. SKY scored the fourth-fastest fifty by an Indian in the T20 WC whereas Kohli continued his merry run, scoring an unbeaten 44-ball 62. In reply, the Netherlands' line-up was never in the run-chase. Bhuvneshwar Kumar started with two successive maiden overs whereas the likes of Md Shami, Axar Patel, and R Ashwin dented the run-chase with regular strikes. Axar and Ashwin contained the run-flow whereas the inexperienced Dutch batters struggled to rotate and score freely. India's fielding was upto the mark whereas the Rohit-Rahul Dravid-led team management will be satisfied with the bowling effort as well. It was a disciplined performance from the one-time winners, who now atop their group with four points from two games.

This truly is a sensational move in a bid to promote gender equality in sports. In the recent times, the growth of women's cricket has been amazing to watch. Ever since the Mithali Raj-led Indian eves ended as runners-up in the 2017 ODI World Cup, it gave a massive push to&nbsp;women's cricket in the cricket-crazy country.&nbsp;

'A new era of gender equality': BCCI to give equal match fees to women cricketers as male counterparts

India left for Australia early this month for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Rohit Sharma &amp; Co. have had a stellar run in the shortest format in this year and, hence, are one of the title contenders for the marquee edition Down&nbsp;Under. In the last edition, held in 2021 in the UAE, India faltered under pressure and failed to get past the Super 12 round after back-to-back losses in their opening two games, versus Pakistan and New Zealand, respectively.

Thus, India will be keen to turn the tides this time around. They have a strong squad -- compromising Rohit, vice-captain KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, in-form Suryakumar Yadav, Bhuvnneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya, etc. -- and will be desperate to click from the word go. So far, India have won the T20 WC title only once, during the 2007 edition under MS Dhoni, and since then, they managed to reach the top four only twice (with them ending as runners-up in 2014). Will India return with the elusive title? Only time will tell...

Team India at T20 World Cup 2022: Squad, schedule, timings - Everything you need to know

After beating Pakistan in their T20 World Cup (T20 WC)'s opening clash, India have now shifted their focus to their second encounter where they face the Netherlands, on Thursday (October 27) at the SCG, Sydney. Before their face-off versus the Dutch line-up, Team India players didn't have the best of experience after the end of their practice session in Sydney.&nbsp;

After India's optional practice session, on Tuesday (October 25), the dressing room menu was found to be cold and inadequate and the players reported the matter to the official at the iconic SCG. The menu included&nbsp;fruits, falafel and ‘make your own sandwich’, not pleasing the Indian team players.&nbsp;“The food was not up to the mark. We can’t have a sandwich after a practice session,” a member of the Indian squad said as per a report in the Indian Express.

After a practice session, players usually prefer having an adequate and hot meal and, hence, the menu didn't impress the Team India members. The optional session was attended by captain Rohit Sharma, vice-captain KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Siraj, R Ashwin, Shardul Thakur and Deepak Hooda, along with the support staff. On the other hand, the team management rested the likes of&nbsp;Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh.

BCCI lodges a complaint with the ICC

"BCCI has told ICC that food provided after practice is inadequate. BCCI has further told ICC - How can you give cold sandwiches after 3 hours of practice for lunch? Sandwiches are not even made, players have to make their own sandwiches. This is not acceptable to us. The problem was in Melbourne and now Sydney. ICC had promised to look into it but hot food is the basic. Why wasn’t it looked at earlier?" top sources conveyed Times Now.

After the Pakistan clash, India occupy the second spot in Pool B. The points table is currently led by Bangladesh, who defeated the Netherlands by nine runs, with India, South Africa and Zimbabwe following suit. Pakistan and Netherlands are at the bottom and yet to open their accounts.

T20 WC: BCCI slams ICC as lack of hot food prompts India to order online after practice session - Report

It has been over a month since Deepti Sharma ran Charlie Dean out, at the non-striker's end, as the batter was taking unfair advantage for backing up too far. Since then, Deepti's act has been talked about a lot and has led to divided opinions. While many have backed and lauded Deepti, and fairly blamed Charlie, the English and Aussie cricketers refrain from considering it as a legitimate form of dismissal -- although the International Cricket Council (ICC) and MCC&nbsp;have included it to the run-out law from unfair play -- all-rounder Hardik Pandya joined the bandwagon and shared a strong response in this regard.

Speaking on the latest episode of ICC Review podcast, the 28-year-old Hardik said, "Because you gave the example, we need to stop making a fuss about this. It's a rule, simple as that. To hell with the Spirit of the Game, if it's there, remove the rules, simple as that. The ones who have problems, good for them, that's fine."

The all-rounder further opined that&nbsp;he would be fine if a bowler runs him out at the non-striker's end. Hardik added, "Personally, I have no problem. If I am out, if I am walking out and someone runs me out, fair enough, it's my mistake, not the bowlers. It is using the rules to one's advantage. Simple as that, let’s not make a big deal, that's it."

Hardik was last seen in action during India's memorable four-wicket win over Pakistan in the Super 12 clash at the T20 World Cup (T20 WC) 2022 edition on Sunday (October 23). Hardik returned with 3 for 30, after Rohit Sharma &amp; Co. opted to bowl first at the MCG, Melbourne, and stitched a match-winning 113-run fifth-wicket stand with Virat Kohli (82 not out off 53 balls) to score a 37-ball 40 and help India prevail on the final ball of the contest while chasing 160.

'To hell with the Spirit of the Game': Hardik Pandya shares his take on run out at non-striker's end

Team India pulled off a heist versus Pakistan in an epic Super 12 clash at the T20 World Cup on Sunday (October 23) at the iconic and jam-packed MCG, Melbourne. In pursuit of 160, India were on the back foot and reeling at 31 for 4 before Virat Kohli-Hardik Pandya stitched an impressive 113-run fifth-wicket stand which revived the run-chase and took their side past the finish line, by four wickets, on the last ball of the contest.

Opting to bowl first, Rohit Sharma-led India restricted Pakistan to 159-8, who rode on fifties from Iftikhar Ahmed and Shan Masood. Arshdeep Singh and Hardik returned with a three-fer each but the run-chase started on a dismal note for the Men in Blue. Kohli-Hardik joined in, and rotated the strike before both accelerated and set the stage for a thrilling finish.

With 48 needed off 18, India brought down the equation to 16 off six balls. The last over, bowled by Md Nawaz, comprised two wides,&nbsp;free-hit, six off a waist-high delivery, no-ball, and two wickets falling before R Ashwin smacked a four on the last ball to take India home. Thus, emotions were running away in the middle and even at the stands -- filled with supporters from both sides.

Among them, former cricketers-turned-commentators Sunil Gavaskar, Kris Srikkanth, Irfan Pathan, etc. also celebrated India's winning shot with the Little Master jumping in joy. The video of his reaction has gone viral:

At the post-match presentation, Player-of-the-Match Kohli (82 not out off 53 balls)&nbsp;was at a loss of words and stated, "It's a surreal atmosphere, I have no words, no idea how that happened. I am really lost for words. Hardik believed we can do it, if we stayed till the end. When Shaheen bowled from the pavilion end, that's when we decided to take him down. Haris is their prime bowler, and I hit those two sixes. The calculation was simple. Nawaz had one over to bowl, so if I could take Haris down, they would panic. From 28 in 8, it came down to 16 to 6. Rohit Sharma-led Team India's T20 World Cup (T20 WC) campaign was off to a winning start as the one-time winners edged past Pakistan in a riveting Super 12 clash, held at the MCG, Melbourne on Sunday (October 23). Opting to bowl first, India rode on Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya's three-wicket hauls to restrict Pakistan to 159-8. In reply, they were tottering at 31 for 4 and needed 115 off the last 60 balls to win the contest.

From thereon, Virat Kohli stitched an impressive 113-run fifth-wicket stand with Hardik (37-ball 40) to keep India alive in the contest before the former's unbeaten 82, off 53 balls, took India past the finish line on the last ball with four wickets in hand. After the win, the 28-year-old Hardik revealed the text he shared with his family members in the run-up to the high-voltage contest.&nbsp;

"I just had a feeling, that’s why before the game I took a punt saying to all the closest people of my life, which are my brother, my wife, my sister-in-law, my manager, I message them saying that I’m gonna put on a show for you guys tonight. So whatever I do, it’s for you. I told Patty as well as I told you guys whether I wanted to be accountable, I wanted to be like Hardik today’s your day," Hardik said on&nbsp;BCCI.TV.

Opting to bowl first, India rode on Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya's three-wicket hauls to restrict Pakistan to 159-8. In reply, they were tottering at 31 for 4 and needed 115 off the last 60 balls to win the contest. From thereon, Virat Kohli stitched an impressive 113-run fifth-wicket stand with Hardik (37-ball 40) to keep India alive in the contest before the former's unbeaten 82, off 53 balls, took India past the finish line on the last ball with four wickets in hand. After the win, the 28-year-old Hardik revealed the text he shared with his family members in the run-up to the high-voltage contest. "I just had a feeling, that’s why before the game I took a punt saying to all the closest people of my life, which are my brother, my wife, my sister-in-law, my manager, I message them saying that I’m gonna put on a show for you guys tonight. So whatever I do, it’s for you. I told Patty as well as I told you guys whether I wanted to be accountable, I wanted to be like Hardik today’s your day," Hardik said on BCCI.TV. T20 WC: Hardik Pandya reveals text he sent to his family before Indo-Pak clash at the MCG

Virat Kohli played a brilliant knock versus Pakistan to help India open their T20 World Cup (T20 WC) 2022 campaign with a thrilling win, in the Super 12 clash at the iconic MCG, Melbourne on October 23 (Sunday). Being asked to bat first, Babar Azam-led Pakistan rode on half-centuries from Shan Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed to post 159 for 8. In reply, India were tottering at 31 for 4 before a 113-run fifth-wicket stand between Kohli (82 not out) and Hardik Pandya (37-ball 40) took India to a stunning four-wicket win at the iconic stadium.

Many have claimed that Kohli's knock was the greatest inning by an Indian in the T20 WC. Earlier, Kohli had scored a magical 82 not out, off 51 balls, versus Australia in the virtual quarter-final of the 2016 T20 WC, in Mohali. Following his MCG heroics, many have labelled it as the greatest knock by a Team India player in the tournament history. However, former Indian opener Sanjay Bangar disagrees.

"The best I feel is Yuvraj Singh's, he will be at No. 1 because it was a semi-final match, so it was a different level. The second, as Virat Kohli himself said in his post-match interview that he will rate the Melbourne innings higher, the sort of attack it was and the position we were in, difficult conditions, I feel Melbourne should be there," Bangar said in a video posted on Aakash Chopra's YouTube Channel.

Talking about Yuvraj's 30-ball 70-run knock versus the Aussies, it took place in the inaugural edition's second semi-final. Back then, MS Dhoni-led India faced Adam Gilchrist-led Aussies and posted a healthy 188 for 5 after opting to bat first, in Durban. India were 41 for 2 before Yuvi stitched an impressive 81-run stand with Robin Uthappa and went onto slam 70 off 30 deliveries, laced with 5 fours and equal number of sixes at a whopping strike rate of 233.33. Since Aussies were the favourites in the 2007 edition, Yuvi's inning was lauded by many. In reply, Australia managed 173 for 7 to lose by 15 runs.&nbsp;

Not Virat Kohli's masterclass against Pakistan! Sanjay Bangar picks greatest knock by an Indian in T20 WC

Virat Kohli produced another masterclass while chasing as India beat Pakistan by four wickets in a thrilling Super 12 clash at the T20 World Cup 2022 edition. Playing at the iconic MCG, Melbourne, India asked Pakistan to bat first and restricted them to 159-8. In reply, India were 31 for 4 before Kohli's 82 not out, along with Hardik Pandya's 37-ball 40, propelled India to a four-wicket win on the last ball of the run-chase.

Kohli, at No. 3, joined the run-chase with KL Rahul being out for 4. Soon, skipper Rohit Sharma also joined Rahul back in the pavillion and India were reduced to 31 for 4. Hardik-Kohli stitched a 113-run fifth-wicket stand and took the game deeper. While Hardik was the aggressor at the start, he somehow fell behind but Kohli timed his acceleration and played some unbelievable shots at the backend of the innings to take India to a stunning win.

Kohli was adjudged the Player-of-the-Match for his breathtaking 53-ball unbeaten 82, lacked with 6 fours and 4 sixes. At first, he was struggling and started slowly as he was 12 off 21 balls. Nonetheless, he attacked the likes of Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf (Pakistan's best bowler of the evening) and Md Nawaz to help India open its account in the tournament, in Australia.

Speaking to Star Sports after the match, Kohli recalled his initial struggles and said, "Honestly, I was feeling a lot of pressure at that stage. But then when he came in and he hit a few boundaries, I kind of opened up. That partnership, we didn't even realise when we got to our 100. We kept talking, we kept running hard and kept watching their body language. We knew it would turn at some stage, it turned quite late to be honest. We would have liked to do it earlier."

"All these things look great at the end, to be honest. When I was 12 of 21, I was like 'I am really messing this game up. I am not putting ball in the gaps'. But when you have experience and understand the value of batting deep, that's always been my role-playing for India. I know that I can do a lot of the power-hitting towards the end of the innings," the former captain asserted.

"I told Hardik that if we go after Haris Rauf, if he goes for a big over, they will panic big time. And that's exactly what happened."

"A lot of credit should go to Hardik, he came and he was very, very positive. He kept telling me to be positive and keep pushing it in the gaps. He was telling me to take the game deep and kept believing in it," Kohli further added.

'When I was 12 of 21...' - Virat Kohli thought he was 'messing the game up' during MCG blitz vs Pakistan

After much hullabaloo, India and Pakistan squared off in the fourth game of the Super 12 clash at the T20 World Cup 2022 edition, on Sunday afternoon (October 23). Playing in front of a jam-packed Melbourne Cricket Stadium, Melbourne, the clash was a humdinger which saw Rohit Sharma-led India beat Pakistan by four wickets in a last-over thriller, courtesy of Virat Kohli's majestic 82 not out.

Opting to bowl first, India was off to a good start. The opening bowlers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh got some movement and bounce and curtailed the run-flow. As a result, Pakistan captain Babar Azam shuffled off Arshdeep but was trapped lbw, after missing the ball completely, to be out for a golden duck. Rizwan also followed suit, surprised by a well-executed short ball from Arshdeep (3 for 32).&nbsp;

Shan Masood steadied the ship after the fall of the Pakistani openers. Iftikhar Ahmed, on the other hand, took on Axar Patel and went bonkers with some lusty blows. With Iftikhar adding some vital runs, Rohit brought Md Shami back into the attack and he dismissed him for a 34-ball 51. From thereon, some vital blows from Shaheen Afridi (8-ball 16) and Masood's cautious 42-ball 52 not out took Pakistan to a competitive 159 for 8 in 20 overs. Apart from Arshdeep, Hardik also impressed and returned with 3 for 30.

In reply, Indian openers were tentative and&nbsp;dismissed for cheap inside the powerplay overs. KL Rahul chopped it onto the stumps, off Naseem shah, whereas Haris Rauf removed Rohit for 4. In-form batter Suryakumar Yadav showed a lot of promise and took the scoreboard forward with some confident strokes before falling for 15, off Rauf. After being promoted&nbsp;to No. 5,&nbsp;Axar Patel was involved in a&nbsp;mix-up with&nbsp;Kohli and&nbsp;luck favoured the Men in Green as he was run out for 2.

From thereon, Hardik&nbsp;(40 off 37) joined Kohli as the duo stitched an impressive 113-run fifth-wicket stand. While Hardik slowed down as the partnership progressed, however, Kohli -- who has an impeccable record versus Pakistan in T20 WC history -- took on the likes of Shadab Khan, Shaheen, and Md Nawaz to keep India in the hunt.

With 48 needed off 18, Kohli's timely hits brought the equation down to 16 off 6 balls. There was a lot of drama with a wicket, waist-high delivery (which went for a six),&nbsp;a no-ball, a free-hit, etc. bringing down the equation&nbsp;to two off an equal number of balls.&nbsp;

Dinesh Karthik faced the penultimate ball but was stumped out. Eventually, R Ashwin came out to face the last ball. Nawaz bowled a wide before Ashwin&nbsp;struck a boundary to take India home in what was a riveting clash. In an epic thriller, India&nbsp;beat Pakistan by four wickets to open its account in the ongoing T20 WC with a memorable victory.

Kohli's 82 not out, off 53 balls, was laced with 6 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 154.72. He returned with the Player-of-the-Match award.

T20 WC 2022: Virat Kohli's stunning knock helps India beat Pakistan in dramatic last-ball thriller

India were tottering at 31 for 4, in pursuit of 160, in their T20 World Cup opener versus Pakistan at the MCG, Melbourne on Sunday (October 23). Nonetheless, Virat Kohli was joined by all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who instilled a lot of belief in their 113-run fifth-wicket partnership and played the aggressor's role. While Hardik did slow down a bit towards the end overs, Kohli took the mantle and pressed the accelerator with his timely and unbelievable strokes, taking on Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, etc., to take India past the finish line in a thrilling last-over run-chase.

Hardik was dismissed for 40 (37) but Kohli kept his cool and ended the run-chase for India, with R Ashwin hitting the winning shot on the final ball of the contest. After the riveting encounter, at the MCG, Melbourne, Kohli and Hardik got together and relived their match-winning stand.

"I would have taken a bullet for you at that point of time, but I would not have let you get out. My goal was simple, whatever I can do to make your life easier, I'll do it. You have done it so many times and no one is better at handling pressure than you," said Hardik in a video posted by BCCI.

'I'd have taken a bullet for you but not have...': Hardik Pandya tells Virat Kohli after duo's MCG heroics

The D-day has finally arrived. India and Pakistan are set to meet in the Super 12 round of the Men's T20 World Cup 2022 edition, at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Melbourne on Sunday afternoon (October 23). This will be the second clash of the day, with Ireland-Sri Lanka face-off at Hobart being the first encounter.

India and Pakistan do not meet in bilaterals ever since the strained political relations between both sides. Hence, both the sides now only square off during multi-nation or ICC events. Thus, the clash becomes even more special for cricket lovers from both countries. This year, India and Pakistan have already met twice, during the 2022 Asia Cup. Back then, both teams won and lost a game each.&nbsp;

During their last T20 WC face-off, India lost their first-ever World Cup game to their arch-rivals Pakistan. Babar Azam-led Men in Green rode on Shaheen Afridi's 3/31 and unbeaten half-centuries from Babar-Md Rizwan to thrash India by ten wickets. Since then, India have revamped their T20I playing style and have enjoyed considerable success in the format in 2022.

India's tour of Bangladesh, featuring three ODIs and two Tests, to kick off on December 4

Rohit Sharma-led India is set to kick off their campaign in the main draw of the T20 World Cup 2022 edition on Sunday (October 23) as they face Pakistan in their tournament opener. In last year's edition, held in the UAE, Virat Kohli-led India were thrashed by Babar Azam's Pakistan by ten wickets in both sides' Super 12 openers and Men in Blue never recovered as they also lost to New Zealand before winning three games in a row, versus weaker sides, to bow out of the competition without making the semi-finals.&nbsp;

This time around, there are high hopes from India. Rohit-led India have done very well in T20Is in the calendar year and are entering the tournament as the No. 1 ranked side. Ahead of their face-off versus Pakistan, Little Master Sunil Gavaskar rated India's chances.&nbsp;

"One thing for sure. If the Indian team does not win this T20 World Cup it won't be for lack of preparation. Not only have they gone to Australia almost three weeks before their first game of the tournament, they are also playing practice games against good sides that should get them ready for the tournament," Gavaskar opined in his column in the Mid-Day.

<section>
He further asserted, "The old saying, 'if you fail to prepare then prepare to fail' will not apply to this Indian team as, apart from these games in Australia, they also played six T20 matches at home and won four out of those to show that they are tuning in nicely for the big event."

While Gavaskar sounds confident of India's chances at the T20 WC 2022 edition, he also pointed out why they have faltered in previous ICC events. "India's performance in the white ball bilaterals has always been good, be it at home or overseas, but it's in the multilateral events that they have been stumbling. In the past it's been because they have come cold into the event," he added.

Team India is set to commence their campaign in the Men's T20 World Cup with their opening fixture against Pakistan on Sunday (October 23) at the iconic MCG, Melbourne. After bowing out of the last year's edition, in the UAE, in the Super 12 round, India will look to start on a strong note. Ahead of Rohit Sharma &amp; Co.'s opening game, former Indian captain Kapil Dev has expressed concerns on India's chances of entering the semi-finals of the marquee event in Australia.

Speaking to the press in Lucknow, the 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil pointed out, "What more do you want in the side other than having all-rounders who could win matches for a side not only in the World Cup but in all other matches or events? A cricketer like Hardik Pandya has been quite useful for India. All-rounders are the key players of any side, and they become the strength of a team. An all-rounder like Hardik gives Rohit Sharma the liberty to make use of the sixth bowler in a match. He is a good batter, bowler and fielder too. Ravindra Jadeja is also a perfect all-rounder for India."

“In T20 cricket, the team winning a match can lose the next... It’s a very difficult to talk about the chances of India winning the World Cup. The issue is can they make it to the top four? And I am concerned about their making it to the top four, only then anything can be said. For me, it’s just 30 % chance of India making it to the top (last) four.”

India will enter the showpiece event Down Under without the likes of premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. While Jadeja was ruled out due to a knee injury, Bumrah missed out due to a stress back fracture.&nbsp;

T20 World Cup: Kapil Dev 'concerned' with India's chances of making it to top 4 ahead of Pakistan clash

Mohammed Shami bowled only the last over during India's narrow six-run win over Australia in their warm-up encounter ahead, in Brisbane on Monday (October 17),&nbsp;of the main draw of the T20 World Cup. Shami, who was drafted into the Indian team as a replacement for injured Jasprit Bumrah, didn't field for the first 19 overs, with Aussies chasing a competitive 187 set by Rohit Sharma &amp; Co.,&nbsp;and came onto bowl the last six balls, returning with 1-0-4-3.

Shami looks set to be part of India's T20 WC opening fixture, where they will play Pakistan at the iconic MCG, Melbourne on October 23. Before that, the experienced pacer will like to bowl his full qouta of overs in India's remaining warm-up tie, where they face New Zealand on Wednesday (October 19). Filling in for Bumrah, Shami has a herculean task ahead -- having last played a T20I during the last year's World Cup in the UAE -- but looks set for the challenge.

Ahead of the Super 12 round of the T20 WC, former Indian all-rounder Suresh Raina made a bold claim. He&nbsp;feels Shami isn't a perfect replacement for Bumrah because players like him are rare.

"I would not call him a perfect replacement because you cannot replace Jasprit Bumrah or Ravindra Jadeja. They have played consistently for India and they have given performances," Raina told NDTV.

I would not call Mohammed Shami a perfect replacement for Jasprit Bumrah, says Suresh Raina

Early this month, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Jasprit Bumrah has officially been ruled out of the T20 World Cup, in Australia. Bumrah, who had missed the Asia Cup 2022 edition due to back issues, was part of the India-Australia home T20Is, in September, before his back concerns re-emerged.

As a result, the 28-year-old Bumrah was ruled out of the ICC event due to a stress back fracture. The board took a lot of time before finally announcing Mohammed Shami, who last played a T20I during the 2021 T20 World Cup in the UAE, as his replacement. Deepak Chahar was also a strong contender before back injury ruled him out as well. On the other hand, Mohammed Siraj -- who finished with five wickets in the recently-held three ODIs versus South Africa at home -- was also a strong candidate to replace Bumrah but BCCI selectors went ahead with the experienced Shami.

Recently, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar lauded Shami and feels he is an ideal replacement for Bumrah. “Bumrah not being there is a big loss and we obviously needed a strike bowler. An out-and-out genuine fast bowler, who could attack batters and get wickets. Shami has proven that and he seems a good replacement,” Tendulkar told PTI in an exclusive interview.

On Monday (October 17), Rohit Sharma-led India locked horns with hosts Australia in a warm-up encounter, in the run-up to their 2022 T20 WC opening fixture, versus Pakistan on October 23. During the clash, India had to defend their competitive score, 186-7, and successfully managed to do that courtesy of Shami, who came onto bowl on the final over with the Aussies needing 11 for a victory.

Shami returned with 1-0-2-3 and displayed his rhythm from the word go.&nbsp; At the post-match presentation, Rohit said on Shami, "He (Shami) is coming back after a long time, so we wanted to give him an over. Wanted to give him a challenge and let him bowl the final over, and you saw what he did."

Shami is expected to play in India's remaining warm-up tie, versus New Zealand in Brisbane on October 19 (Wednesday) before the main draw of the competition begins on October 22.

T20 World Cup 2022: Team India players stay back to watch Pakistan vs England warm-up game in Brisbane

India and Pakistan are set to lock horns with each other in the main draw of the T20 World Cup, which commences on October 22. The Asian giants will square off on October 23 (Sunday) at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Melbourne. The clash is expected to go down to the wire especially after both sides produced two thrilling contests in the Asia Cup 2022 edition.

In the 2021 T20 World Cup, India and Pakistan were placed in the same group as well (i.e. Pool B). Both sides played each other in their respective opening games in the Super 12 round, where Babar Azam-led Men in Green produced a clinical performance to thrash India by ten wickets. Opting to bowl first, Pakistan rode on Shaheen Afridi's 3 for 31 and Haris Rauf's two-fer to restrict Virat Kohli-led India to 151 for 7 in 20 overs. In reply, Pakistan openers Mohammed Rizwan (79 not out) and skipper Babar (68 not out) stitched a memorable 152-run first-wicket stand as the one-time winners chased down the total with ten wickets and 13 balls to spare, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.&nbsp;

After the match, skipper Virat was left baffled by a question from a reporter, who suggested him to have played Ishan Kishan for Rohit Sharma. Ishan had a good run in the warm-up encounter, versus England (scoring a 46-ball 70), but there was no question on Rohit's spot whatsoever. Hence, Kohli was left speechless for a while before he reacted calmly.&nbsp;

Question:&nbsp;Regarding the selection of the team, many people were talking. Ishan Kishan played pretty well in the warm-up match. Do you think that it's a mistake if Ishan Kishan, could play and he could do better than Rohit Sharma?

Virat Kohli:&nbsp;That's a very brave question. What do you think, sir? I played the team that I thought was the best. What is your opinion? Will you drop Rohit Sharma from T20 international? Will you drop Rohit Sharma? Do you know what he did in the last game we played? Unbelievable (laughs). Sir, if you want controversy, please tell me before so I can answer accordingly," he added.

Rohit was dismissed by Shaheen for a golden duck in the India-Pakistan encounter in the 2021 T20 WC. India went onto lose to New Zealand in their next game, where Ishan was roped in and played as an opener with Rohit at No. 3, before winning their last three encounters. Eventually, India bowed out of the showpiece event in the Super 12 round.

This time around, Rohit-led India will enter the T20 WC 2022 edition as the No. 1 ranked side and are expected to reach the semi-finals.

THROWBACK: When Kohli slammed reporter who questioned Rohit's spot after India's T20 WC loss to Pak

Rohit Sharma-led India is set to kick off their campaign in the T20 World Cup 2022 edition with their first game versus arch-rivals Pakistan on October 23 at the iconic MCG, Melbourne. Team India reached Australia for the showpiece event early this month and have already played three warm-up games, with two against Western Australia XI.&nbsp;

Winning two of their three warm-up games, so far, India will meet New Zealand on October 19 (Wednesday) at Brisbane in their last practice game before their opening fixture in the main draw of the tournament. For India, they enter the ICC event as the No. 1 ranked side and have been in form in T20Is since their debacle in last year's edition. The likes of Rohit, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Shami, Suryakumar Yadav, etc. will be crucial to India's chances Down Under.

While the 15-man main squad and reserve list have plenty of match-winners for Team India, here's looking at Men in Blue's star-studded XI featuring players who are not part of the showpiece event Down Under:

India's missed-out XI: Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan (wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Venketesh Iyer, Deepak Chahar, Ravindra Jadeja, Umran Malik, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah

The above XI shows the depth of India's squad and the abundance of talent in the Indian camp. The experienced trio of Shikhar Dhawan, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah missed out with the latter two being injured whereas Dhawan has been sidelined from T20Is. The younger lot such as Prithvi Shaw, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan are destined to take over from the likes of KL Rahul, Rohit and Kohli but for now, they didn't find a spot.&nbsp;

Chahar missed out again due to back issues after being named in the reserves. Meanwhile, Samson and Kuldeep are part of the second-stringed white-ball Indian team but weren't considered for the T20 WC. Meanwhile, Venkatesh Iyer went down the pecking order as soon as Hardik Pandya was deemed fully fit in early 2022.

Lastly, Umran has featured in only a handful of T20Is, indicating that he still needs to learn a lot and more exposure to be considered for such a marquee event.

From Shikhar Dhawan to Jasprit Bumrah: Star players who are not part of India's T20 World Cup squad

The stage is set for the India-Pakistan T20 World Cup 2022 edition clash, which will take place on October 23 at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Melbourne. The main draw of the tournament starts on October 22 whereas the qualifiers will get underway on October 16.

Hence, India and Pakistan will square off on the second day of the main draw and the clash is expected to go down to the wire. Both sides met in the 2021 T20 World Cup, in the UAE, where Babar Azam &amp; Co. thrashed India by ten wickets as Pakistan defeated their arch-rivals in a World Cup match for the first time ever. After that, they met twice in the Asia Cup 2022 edition, with both teams getting a win each.

Prior to the T20 WC face-off, former Indian opener-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra made a bold claim. He believes only one between India and Pakistan will make it to the semi-finals, along with South Africa from Pool B.

"Two teams out of India, Pakistan, and South Africa will go ahead. They (Pakistan) should reach the semi-finals, but it will not be easy. I am saying only one out of India and Pakistan will make it. Whoever wins the India-Pakistan match will make it. I feel South Africa will make it," Chopra&nbsp;said on his Youtube channel.

It is to be noted that Pool A comprises defending champions and hosts Australia, England, New Zealand, and Afghanistan. Pool B has India, Pakistan, South Africa, and Bangladesh whereas both groups will have two teams, each, joining them from the qualifiers.

The top two from both groups will head to the semi-finals and Chopra believes it will be India or Pakistan along with Temba Bavuma-led Proteas from Pool B.
