<p>Since the minute IPL founder Lalit Modi opened up about his relationship with former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen, the two have been on trolls' target. <p>On Sunday, the 46-year-old had penned a note on social media&nbsp;to respond to trolls.&nbsp;Giving an apt response to those trying to pull her down with their negative comments, the actress shared that she prefers diamonds over gold and she still buys her own precious rocks.</p>

<p>Reacting to Sushmita Sen's heartfelt post, Priyanka wrote, “Tell em Queen!” along with a fire emoji. Ranveer Singh also dropped heart emoticons in the comments section for the actress.&nbsp;Dia Mirza, Manushi Chillar, and Neha Dhupia were among other celebs who hailed the 'Main Hoon Na' star.</p>

<p>In the viral post, Sushmita had shared a snap of herself taking a dip into an infinity pool. Her note read, “Perfectly centred in my being and my conscience…I love how nature merges all it’s creation to experience oneness…and just how divided we are, when we break that balance. It’s heartbreaking to see just how miserable and unhappy the world around us is becoming. The so called intellectuals with their idiosyncrasies….the ignorant with their cheap &amp; at times funny gossip. Bhatt and Sen were a couple in the 1990s when Sen had just been crowned Miss Universe. Bhatt wrote 'Dastak' - Sen's Bollywood debut film released in 1994. The two broke up a few years later. Defending the former beauty queen, Bhatt called her a 'love digger and not a gold digger' as is being projected by some people on social media.&nbsp;<br />

<p>There is a certain urgency right from the first frame of 'Aarya 2' that draws the viewers instantly towards the show.&nbsp; The second instalment of Ram Madhvani's immensely popular show 'Aarya' wastes no time and dives deep into the plot from the word go. And the shows leading protagonist Sushmita Sen takes on the show on her able shoulders and delivers a refined performance yet again.</p>

<p>The series starts in the courtroom where Zorawar Shekhawat (Jayant Kripalani) and his son Sangram (Ankur Bhatia) along with Udaiveer Shekhawat (Akash Khurrana) are under trial for a major drug case. For the public prosecutor, the only hope to win the case is to bring back Aarya to the country. A prime witness in the case, Aarya with the help of ACP Khan had fled to Australia with her three kids -away from the drug cartel, mafia and murderers of her husband.</p>

<p>Arya returns to India with her kids and is attacked at the govt safehouse on the first day itself. While she helps to free her husband's murderers -her dad and brother, she finds herself embroiled in the drugs case once again. She has a lot at stake much like the first season. As Aarya unwillingly gets drawn into a drug nexus, she has to battle not just the Russian mafia, but ACP Khan, a depressed daughter, and a dubious brother.</p>

<p>The beauty of Ram Madhvani's series is that it never loses focus from the main plot. While subplots are given importance, but they are all very well imbibed into the main story. There really is never a dull moment in the second season of 'Aarya'. With the focus firmly set on Sen's character, who delivers a powerful performance once again, 'Aarya 2' manages to engage and excite and narrates a telling story of power and greed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>At the helm of the story is Sushmita Sen, who marvellously makes Aarya an almost extension of herself. When Sen is on screen, it's hard to notice anyone else. She exudes confidence like no one else and portrays her character with utmost sincerity. Aarya is fierce, vengeful but also kind, considerate and motherly to not just her kids but everyone else. The beauty of Sen's performance lies in the details- where she isn't really speaking but still saying volumes with her body language, her eyes. Complementing her is actor Vikas Kumar who is terrific as ACP Khan.<br />

Kumar portrayal of the character in Season 1 too was lauded. In the second season, Kumar's character goes through tumultuous changes. Khan is conflicted as an individual who has lost sense of time trying to solve the case. At one point he is the confidante of Aarya, in other times he is her enemy. Kumar's performance is sharp and it is a delight to watch him and Sen on screen together.&nbsp;</p>

It's a dark, murky story that is full of betrayal but at its core has a very human aspect to it thanks to its central character.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br />

Not until 2016 did he come into his own with the well-received real-life midair thriller &nbsp;Neerja. &nbsp;In 2020 &nbsp;'Aarya' the &nbsp;Disney-Hotstar series based on the Dutch series 'Pinoza' has hit pay-dirt. After its huge success 'Aarya' has been nominated for the prestigious International Emmy Awards in the Best Drama Series category. Subhash K Jha talks to Ram.</p>

<p><strong>How hopeful are you of winning the &nbsp;Emmy?</strong></p>

<p>I don’t want to sound clichéd. But for me, it is an honour in itself that we are nominated. We never expected it. I never go into anything with expectations. &nbsp;If the series has come this far then I &nbsp;have the &nbsp;Universe and Miss Universe to thank for it.</p>

<p><strong>That’s a good line to use?</strong></p>

<p>(Laughs) Please be my guest. But seriously, Aarya would not have been possible without Sushmita Sen. She brought her own personality and her inner strengths as a human being, into the part and took the character far beyond all expectations. There is so much to observe and appreciate from Sushmita. She can converse on any topic under the sun. She radiates positivity. If you go to a restaurant with her she connects with everyone there, from the other patrons to the waiters. She has a conversation with all of them.</p>

<p><strong>Was there an even better bonding while shooting the second season of Aarya?</strong></p>

<p>We shot Season 2 through the pandemic. Her professionalism and innate wisdom made it a lot easier. Really, I am thankful to Sushmita and Endemol Shine and Disney-Hotstar. We were on this project for 12 years.</p>

<p><strong>Coming back to the Emmys, have you seen the other nominees in the Best Drama Series category?</strong></p>

<p>No, I just haven’t had the time. I’ve been shooting for &nbsp;Season 2 of 'Aarya' and it’s now complete. I was also busy with my feature film 'Dhamaka'&nbsp;starring Kartik Aaryan which is streaming later this month on Netflix. But they(the Emmy nominees) &nbsp;are all highly acclaimed series and &nbsp;I &nbsp;intend to see them the soonest for my own satisfaction and not to compare with the competition.</p>

<p><strong>Speaking of Dhamaka how was that experience?</strong></p>

<p>I must say I’ve been exceptionally lucky with my actors. Whether it was Sushmita in 'Aarya' or Kartik Aaryan in 'Dhamaka', they were fully involved and committed to the project. They went far beyond my expectations. Kartik will surprise the world in 'Dhamaka'.</p>

<p><strong>Now you are going into a series on Udham Singh. Any fear of being compared with Shoojit Sircar’s film?</strong></p>

<p>First of all, my series won’t be about Udham Singh. It will be about the entire Jallianwala Bagh incident. Secondly, I am a big fan of &nbsp;Shoojit Sircar’s work. I &nbsp;intend to see his film as soon as &nbsp;I can. I am sure what &nbsp;I’ve to say would be very different from his film.</p>

<p><strong>Is there any genre of cinema you would like to attempt?</strong><br />

<p>'Aarya' is the mixture of a crime thriller and an emotional drama that always keeps its viewers on the edge of their seats. This web show has been the talk of the town, because of the return of Bollywood's evergreen Queen B Sushmita Sen. From Naseeruddin Shah to Madhavan this trend of comebacks on OTT platforms has been going on since a very long time. We also see the use of old Hindi songs such as '<i>Bade Achhe Lagte Hain</i>', '<i>Zindagi Ek Safar Hai Suhana</i>' and '<i>Aaiye Meherbaan</i>' to show different moods during the narrative. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Although Aarya seems like a show made just for Sushmita Sen's comeback, it would not have been executed half as well without its other cast members' solid performances, whose subplots add more depth into the narrative of the show. ACP Khan (Vikas Kumar) of the Narcotics Enforcement Bureau plays a brilliant role as a cop who is chasing Aarya and her family to find a loose end and bust their seemingly shady business. Aarya's children Aditya, Veer and Arundati provide good performances, portraying naive kids trying to make sense and come to terms with the reality of their family.</p>

<p>There are a few things that could have been executed slightly differently in the show. For starters the length, it surely is a big commitment to invest 9 hours into this crime thriller. Even though the narrative is not flat, it does get a bit stretched in between the episodes, especially the latter half of the show. Aarya tends to deviate from the main plot of who shot Tej, with going far too deep into stories of other characters. At some points, you ask yourself, was that scene actually necessary? Adding too many characters and subplots also led to holes in the main plotline.</p>

<p>Even though everyone was aware that someone tried to kill Tej, why was there no security outside Aarya's house to protect her and the children? Aarya did stop the children from going to school once, but what about the other days? Where did Aarya's mother disappear after the first few episodes? Maybe all these could have been avoided with a tighter script. It takes far too long to reach to the killers of Tej Sareen and does drag towards the end.</p>

'Aarya' is the mixture of a crime thriller and an emotional drama that always keeps its viewers on the edge of their seats. This web show has been the talk of the town, because of the return of Bollywood's evergreen Queen B Sushmita Sen. From Naseeruddin Shah to Madhavan this trend of comebacks on OTT platforms has been going on since a very long time. We can't tell you how much we missed the elegant and always convincing power-packed performances of Sushmita Sen on screen. Along with her, we get to see the comeback of actor Chandrachur Singh, who vanished into thin air many years ago. The show is an official adaptation of Dutch series Penoza which many of us might not have heard of before. × 'Aarya' has Sushmita Sen written all over it, in fact, the title of the film is the name of her character. Set in Rajasthan, the show is the journey of Aarya, who struggles to clean the mess left by her husband, fending off a rival drug mafia in order to keep her children safe. The calm before the storm: Aarya's husband Tej Sareen (Chandrachur Singh) runs Aaryasattava Pharmaceuticals, which is just a front for a secret illegal business of transporting medical drugs with a large quantity of opium across the Indian border. With all his contacts and bribes in various checkpoints in place, Tej's business was going smooth and away from the radar of police. However, the matter goes out of hand when he, along with his partners in business and crime, friend Jawahar (Namit Das) and brother-in-law Sangram (Ankur Bhatia) decide to take the business to next level. The trio steals feared drug mafia Shekawat's (Manish Choudhary) 300 crore consignment of narcotics and all hell breaks loose. While Tej gets shot, Sangram lands up in jail and Jawahar struggles to find a way through this mess. This event causes a domino effect on Aarya's whole family and the family business. Directed by Ram Madhvani, Sandeep Modi and Vinod Rawat, the web show has 9 episodes of around 50 minutes each. We get to see Sushmita Sen's character develop from a person who willingly stays away from the family business to someone who calls all the shots because of unforeseen circumstances to keep her children safe. Each episode of the show ends in a cliff hanger, increasing the urge to binge-watch this crime thriller with a gripping storyline. The writers of the show Sandeep Shrivastava and Anu Singh Choudhary make sure the viewers never stop their guessing game, by adding new twists and turns to the plot every episode. The music of the show adds to the thriller element, it blends perfectly well with the scenes and never gets unnecessary and overpowering. We also see the use of old Hindi songs such as 'Bade Achhe Lagte Hain', 'Zindagi Ek Safar Hai Suhana' and 'Aaiye Meherbaan' to show different moods during the narrative. Although Aarya seems like a show made just for Sushmita Sen's comeback, it would not have been executed half as well without its other cast members' solid performances, whose subplots add more depth into the narrative of the show. The trailer was unveiled on Friday and has Sushmita playing a diting mother and a wife who is forced to take up the murky business of illegal drugs and settle old scores when her husband is shot by a masked man.<br />

From the looks of the trailer, the series looks like a powerful story of redemption and of a woman's courage.<br />

It also marks a comeback of sorts for actor Chandrachur Singh who plays Sushmita's husband in the series. The web series has been directed by Ram Madhvani who is best known for directing 'Neerja' and also features Namit Das and Sikandar Kher in key roles.<br />

<p>In a new video she shared with her fans, Sushmita opened up about dealing with Addison’s disease and how she fought it with nunchaku workout sessions.</p>

<p>For those unversed, Nunchaku is a martial arts weapon that has two sticks connected with a short chain or rope.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sharing the video on her YouTube channel, Sushmita revealed that she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, Addison’s disease. She then shows how to use nunchaku in a workout session with her trainer. She can be heard saying: “After I was diagnosed with an Auto immune condition called Addison’s disease in September 2014, it left me feeling like, I had no fight left in me...A fatigued body filled with immense frustration &amp; aggression. The dark circles under my eyes can’t even begin to explain the dark times I endured for 4 long years :) To have steroids substitute cortisol &amp; to live with its innumerable side effects took its toll. There is NOTHING more tiring than to live with a chronic illness. Enough was enough, I had to find a way of strengthening my mind, allowing my body to follow suit. I meditated with #Nunchaku :)).”</p>

<p>She added, “Aggression out, fight back in &amp; pain turned into an art form :) I healed in time, my Adrenal glands woke up, no more steroids, no withdrawls &amp; NO AUTO IMMUNE CONDITION as of 2019. :)) Lesson : NO ONE KNOWS YOUR BODY BETTER THAN YOU, LISTEN TO IT. :) There is a warrior in all of us, never give up!!!
