Bumrah faces a race against time to be fit for the T20 World Cup and is likely to miss the bus for Australia. India already have the likes of Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar on their standby list for the World Cup, but Watson has backed Mohammed Siraj to replace Bumrah.

Siraj was recalled to India's T20I squad for the ongoing series against the Proteas as a replacement for injured Bumrah. However, he is yet to play a game in the series. Australia legend Shane Watson has said there is no like-to-like replacement for fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah in the world, let alone India. The former Aussie al-rounder believes it will be a huge loss for India if Bumrah fails to make the cut for the T20 World Cup 2022 starting in Australia next month.

Bumrah's participation in the T20 World Cup remains in doubt after the Indian pacer recently suffered a back injury which ruled him out of India's ongoing T20I series against South Africa at home. No final decision has been taken on his participation yet but as per reports, he is all but set to miss the World Cup.

When asked about Bumrah's injury, Watson said there is no perfect replacement for Bumrah in world cricket at present. He hailed the Indian pacer as a great attacking bowler and equally good defensively while stating that his absence will hamper India's chances of winning the T20 World Cup title.

"If Jasprit Bumrah is not fit and not playing at this World Cup, then it would make it all the more difficult for Team India to win because Bumrah is as good as an attacking bowler and as defensive bowler as anyone in the world, let alone for India. He has got an incredible skill, it will be a huge loss," Watson told NDTV.

"There is no like-for-like replacement for Bumrah in the world, leave alone India. It is going to be very hard to find those defensive bowlers in trying to close the game when they are bowling last or close out an innings as well. That is going to be the real challenge. Some of the fast bowlers will be needed to step up and raise their hand, if India wants to get into the back end of the tournament," he added.

Recalling the finale, then RCB all-rounder and now DC's assistant coach Shane Watson said, "2016 final which I played with RCB was something I was just shattered about. Because I know how much it meant to RCB to win that final. It was at home at Chinnaswamy. RCB had played so well all year, at the backend of that tournament in particular."

The coach and captain trust me a lot. This helps in one's growth and there is no room for any self-doubt. So, the individual only thinks about his abilities and goes out to perform freely. When a youngster&nbsp;comes into a team, he, or she,&nbsp;always wants to make a mark and impress the captain coach. But if they back and&nbsp;trust your abilities, your work is done. You then&nbsp;tend to enjoy the process.&nbsp;

You've been a handy batter at the top or middle order and can also&nbsp;bowl a few vital overs when required. Where do you think Delhi relies on you the most? Talk about your role within the team...

It's not like Delhi depends or relies on me in one particular department. I want to contribute in any way possible and in every department. Be it batting, bowling, or fielding. The team management has trusted me in different situations and in varied roles. That is a big confidence booster in itself. I've bowled in powerplays or slog overs. If early wickets have fallen, I often get promoted or sometimes also play the role of a slogger. Overall, whenever and wherever the team needs me, I am there (smiles).

''He shared those key points, the mindset, the skill set.' Even during the final lap of his career, Watson enjoyed tremendous success while playing under MS Dhoni for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL. Watson said former Sri Lanka and England coach Trevor Bayliss would be a good fit for Australia.
