<p>&ldquo;During initial questioning, the accused told us that after he saw his images being flashed on TV and YouTube, he got scared and fled to Thane as he had worked in a bar there and knew the area,&rdquo; they said.</p>
<p>The police first tracked CCTV footage at the Bandra railway station and traced him to a shop outside the Dadar station from where he bought a mobile cover. &ldquo;But he made a cash payment here. After that, he moved to Kabutarkhana and then to Worli,&rdquo; sources said.</p>
<p>The police then started scanning footage in the Worli area, where they found the suspect lingering for a while at a stall near Century Mill. He was spotted talking with the person running the stall. The police then found the man named Naveen Ekka who ran the stall. &ldquo;On the suspicion that the accused was a friend of Ekka, seven police teams searched the Worli-Koliwada area on Saturday, showing pictures of the accused to vendors,&rdquo; sources said.</p>

<p>Mumbai Police are extensively investigating Saif Ali Khan's stabbing attack. On Sunday (Jan 19), it was reportedly learned that Mumbai Police had found the other part of the knife by which Saif was stabbed on the night of Jan 16.&nbsp;</p>
<p>As a new update in the investigation, the police found the second part of the knife in the children's room at the actor's 11th-floor apartment in Mumbai's Bandra area.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On Jan 16, the attacker entered the apartment shared by Khan and his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, with the intention of burglary. After being caught by the house help, the attacker got into a scuffle with Khan and stabbed him six times.</p>
<p>A part of the knife stuck inside the actor's body, which was extracted by doctors during the surgery. Later, a picture of the knife part extracted from the actor's spine was released by the hospital administration, as reported by Indian media.</p>

<p>The picture showed the portion with the pointed tip of the blood-stained knife that was surgically removed from the actor's body.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Later, Dr Nitin Dange, a neurosurgeon at Lilavati Hospital, told the media that part of the knife blade was lodged in the spine and that surgery was performed to remove the knife and repair to stop the leaking spinal fluid.</p>
<p>"Mr Saif Ali Khan was admitted to Lilavati Hospital at 2 am with a reported history of assault by an unknown individual. He sustained severe injuries to the thoracic spinal cord, with a knife lodged in the spine. The man identified as Mohammed Aliyan tried to evade the police for two days before being caught by the police near the Hiranandani Estate in Kasarvadavali, about 35 kilometres from the actor&rsquo;s residence.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The police further stated that teams were going through all the CCTV footage that captured the assailant escaping after the incident. Earlier on Thursday, the cops had released footage of the suspect - dressed in a brown collared T-shirt and a red scarf - descending Khan's building stairs.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a statement to news agency ANI, joint commissioner Satya Narayan Chaudhary denied the claim that the intruder demanded Rs 1 crore (Rs 10 million). Saif Ali Khan sustained 6 wounds when he confronted an armed intruder in his Mumbai residence in the early hours on Thursday. A nurse employed by Saif and his wife Kareena Kapoor gave the Mumbai police shocking details of how an intruder barged into their residence and asked for money, attacking her and Khan. Attacker entered Jeh's room The armed intruder allegedly broke into the Khan residence in the early hours of Thursday morning. The attempted robbery failed but altercation led to a scuffle and Saif, his staff and his son's nanny were injured. A TOI report states that according to the First Information Report filed at the Bandra Police station, the attack took place around 2 am when the family and staff were asleep. Eliyama Philip, a 56 -year-old nurse employed at the actor couple's residence, recounted the incident to the police on Thursday afternoon. The intruder, reportedly in his late 30's, entered the bedroom of Saif and Kareena's four-year-old son Jeh who was asleep. The commotion woke up the nanny, Junu, who raised an alarm, which prompted Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor to rush to Jeh's room. Saif got into a scuffle with the intruder in an attempt to protect his family and was injured in the process. The actor sustained cuts on his neck, shoulder, back, and wrist. Another staff member, Geeta too, got injured while trying to intervene. The intruder fled the scene soon after. Chaudhary stated that it was a theft case. Dixit Gedam, DCP Zone 9 of Mumbai Police, who is part of the team investigating an attack on Khan, said that one of the accused has been identified. "It has been discovered that the accused used the fire escape to enter their house. So far, the investigation suggests that it was an attempted burglary. We are making every effort to arrest the accused as soon as possible. Once he is arrested, we will be able to disclose further details. One accused has been identified. He used the staircase to enter, and teams were in the field to arrest him. There are 10 detection teams working in different directions," he told the press. An unidentified man entered Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor&rsquo;s home in the wee hours of Thursday morning. The said incident took place at around 2:30-3:00 am when everyone in the house was asleep.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Apprehending a burglar at his house, when Saif tried to pacify him, the man charged at the actor and stabbed him with a knife. Saif suffered six stab wounds and was rushed to a hospital nearby.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After hours of surgery, doctors at the Lilavati hospital where he was being treated, spoke to the media and said, "Unko operation theatre se ICU mein shift kar diya gaya hai for one day observation. (He has been shifted from the operation theatre to the ICU). After that we will decide tomorrow. Right now it is looking absolutely fine, he is on a recovery path.&rdquo;</p>
<p>The doctor added, &ldquo;The recovery should be 100 per cent as per our initial understanding. 2 ekdum gehri chotein hai aur 2 aberrations hai jo chaku se lage. itna bada chaku ka piece humne unke spine se nikala hai. (There are two deep wounds and 2 aberrations caused by the knife attack. We have removed a piece of the knife from his spine).&rdquo;</p>
<p>Dr Nitin Dange, who was part of the surgery said, "Saif Ali Khan was admitted in the morning 2 am. He sustained major injury to the spinal cord, in the thoracic spinal cord due to the lodged knife in the spine. Surgery was performed to remove the knife and also repair the leaking spinal fluid. Two other deep wounds on his left hand and neck were repaired by the plastic surgery team. He is completely stable now and recovering well."</p>
