<p>Saif was stabbed multiple times allegedly by Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad during an attempted robbery. According to reports, the attacker is an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh. The attacker told the police he stabbed the actor in the back to free himself from his tight grip. This took place after a staff member noticed him and began arguing at around 2:30 am.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The attacker managed to flee via the same bathroom window he had used to enter the actor's home. It took three days for the police to track him down. Saif was stabbed six times and was rushed to the hospital by Bhajan at around 3 am.</p>

<p>Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan returned home last night (Tuesday) after five days of hospitalisation following a brutal attack by an intruder at his Mumbai home. The actor was under intensive care as he was stabbed six times with a knife with one wound being close to his spine.</p>

The man was nabbed by the police after nearly 70 hours of the attack, which led to Saif&rsquo;s hospitalisation and emergency surgery as he had suffered not one, but six stab wounds. <p>The attacker, who police suspect is a Bangladeshi national, was not far away from where the incident took place. <p>The phone payment led police to the accused&rsquo;s mobile number which was then traced to Thane. It was found out that the man was hiding near a dense mangrove cluster near a labour camp. Once the police were able to zero down the location, the police launched a 100-person search.</p>
<p>The report quoted a source as saying, &ldquo;After searching there, the police team had almost left the spot when they decided to check once more. As they looked again, the light from one of the torches indicated someone sleeping on the ground. As an officer moved closer, the person got up and started running. He was soon caught and overpowered.&rdquo;</p>
<p>&ldquo;During initial questioning, the accused told us that after he saw his images being flashed on TV and YouTube, he got scared and fled to Thane as he had worked in a bar there and knew the area,&rdquo; they said.</p>
<p>The police first tracked CCTV footage at the Bandra railway station and traced him to a shop outside the Dadar station from where he bought a mobile cover. &ldquo;But he made a cash payment here. After that, he moved to Kabutarkhana and then to Worli,&rdquo; sources said.</p>
<p>The police then started scanning footage in the Worli area, where they found the suspect lingering for a while at a stall near Century Mill. He was spotted talking with the person running the stall. The police then found the man named Naveen Ekka who ran the stall. &ldquo;On the suspicion that the accused was a friend of Ekka, seven police teams searched the Worli-Koliwada area on Saturday, showing pictures of the accused to vendors,&rdquo; sources said.</p>

The police then contacted the landlord Rajnarajayan Prajapati. &ldquo;The police got Ekka&rsquo;s mobile number through Prajapati&rsquo;s son Vinod. They also showed Vinod a photo of the suspect. He confirmed that Ekka was a tenant but he could not identify the accused,&rdquo; sources said.</p>

<p>Once police traced Ekka, he told them that the accused had made a UPI payment for paratha and the water bottle. This phone number helped the police track the man. It led them to a contractor named Amit Pandey who had hired the accused a few months earlier.&nbsp;</p>
<p>&ldquo;Nearly 20 teams arrived at the location and began searching for the suspect. But he had fled the spot and turned off his mobile phone around 10 pm Saturday,&rdquo; sources said.</p>
<p>The police then expanded their search and included the mangroves near the camp. A police personnel led by DCP Navnath Dhawale caught the man who was hiding in the mangroves.&nbsp;</p>

The report quoted a source as saying, “After searching there, the police team had almost left the spot when they decided to check once more. As they looked again, the light from one of the torches indicated someone sleeping on the ground. As an officer moved closer, the person got up and started running. He was soon caught and overpowered.” “During initial questioning, the accused told us that after he saw his images being flashed on TV and YouTube, he got scared and fled to Thane as he had worked in a bar there and knew the area,” they said. The police first tracked CCTV footage at the Bandra railway station and traced him to a shop outside the Dadar station from where he bought a mobile cover. “But he made a cash payment here. After that, he moved to Kabutarkhana and then to Worli,” sources said. The police then started scanning footage in the Worli area, where they found the suspect lingering for a while at a stall near Century Mill. He was spotted talking with the person running the stall. The police then found the man named Naveen Ekka who ran the stall. “On the suspicion that the accused was a friend of Ekka, seven police teams searched the Worli-Koliwada area on Saturday, showing pictures of the accused to vendors,” sources said. This phone number helped the police track the man. It led them to a contractor named Amit Pandey who had hired the accused a few months earlier. “Nearly 20 teams arrived at the location and began searching for the suspect. But he had fled the spot and turned off his mobile phone around 10 pm Saturday,” sources said. The police then expanded their search and included the mangroves near the camp. <p>The Railway Protection Force (RPF) detained the suspect identified as Aakash Kailash Kannojia from a train at Durg railway station in Chhattisgarh.</p>
<p>At around 12:30 pm, the RPF received information from Mumbai Police about the suspect in Khan's stabbing case travelling by Jnaneswari Express.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Following the infomation, ⁠two teams were formed at Durg station and the suspect was arrested after being traced through his mobile phone.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On Jan 16, the attacker entered the apartment shared by Khan and his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, with the intention of burglary. After being caught by the house help, the attacker got into a scuffle with Khan and stabbed him six times.</p>
<p>A part of the knife stuck inside the actor's body, which was extracted by doctors during the surgery. Later, a picture of the knife part extracted from the actor's spine was released by the hospital administration, as reported by Indian media.</p>

<p>The picture showed the portion with the pointed tip of the blood-stained knife that was surgically removed from the actor's body.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Later, Dr Nitin Dange, a neurosurgeon at Lilavati Hospital, told the media that part of the knife blade was lodged in the spine and that surgery was performed to remove the knife and repair to stop the leaking spinal fluid.</p>
<p>"Mr Saif Ali Khan was admitted to Lilavati Hospital at 2 am with a reported history of assault by an unknown individual. He sustained severe injuries to the thoracic spinal cord, with a knife lodged in the spine. Emergency surgery was performed to remove the knife and repair the leaking spinal fluid," Dr Dange said, as per news agency PTI.</p>

The controversy started after Urvashi's unusual comment on Khan's stabbing went viral. In an interview with ANI, Urvashi was asked to share her thoughts on Khan's stabbing case, when she started flaunting her expensive jewellery gifted by her parents.
