Probably a golden chance for the teens, who now have a chance to watch the romantic drama on the big screens again. The movie has been released on the occasion of its 20th anniversary. Adapted from Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's iconic 1914 Bengali novel, this special re-release not only celebrates two decades of Parineeta’s enduring legacy but also commemorates 20 years of Vidya Balan’s remarkable journey in Indian cinema and 50 glorious years of Vinod Chopra Films, the studio behind some of the most definitive films in Indian cinema. The film will have an all-India re-release in select theatres on August 29, 2025, exclusively for a week.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Chopra Films is the first production house in India to restore its entire film library in 8K resolution, with soundtracks remastered in 5.1 surround sound, a meticulous process that took over four years to complete. Part of this restoration work was carried out at L’Immagine Ritrovata in Bologna, Italy, a globally acclaimed lab known for restoring cinematic classics.</p>

Actor Saif Ali Khan, who suffered stab injuries after an intruder entered his Mumbai home for an apparent burglary on January 16, recorded his statement with the Bandra police on Thursday.

<p><span>Mumbai Police on Friday informed a court here that it has to conduct facial recognition of the Bangladeshi man arrested for allegedly stabbing Saif Ali Khan last week, to ascertain if he was the person seen in the CCTV footage from the actor's building in Bandra.</span></p>
<p><span>The police produced the accused, Shareeful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir (30), before a magistrate's court, which extended his police custody till January 29.</span></p>

<p><span>Fakir was arrested on January 19 for allegedly breaking into the Bollywood star's residence with the intention of theft and stabbing him multiple times.</span></p>
<p><span>The police sought further custody of Fakir, citing that while substantial progress has been made in the probe, the accused has to be interrogated further on crucial aspects of the case.</span></p>
<p><span>The police, represented by the public prosecutors K S Patil and Prasad Joshi, argued that the accused's facial recognition needs to be done to ascertain that he was the person seen in the CCTV footage recovered from the actor's building.</span></p>
<p><span>This comes after claims made by the accused man's father that the person seen in the CCTV footage was not his son. The father had alleged his son was arrested based on some similarities and was wrongly implicated in the case.</span></p>

<p><span>Judicial magistrate K C Rajput extended Fakir's remand till January 29, noting that further custody of the accused was necessary considering the nature of the offence and the progress made in the probe.</span></p>
<p><span>The police told the court that it also needs to match Fakir's footprints to the ones found at Khan's residence and that the shoes Fakir wore at the time of the attack have not been recovered yet.</span></p>
<p><span>They also stated that the missing part of the knife used in the crime was yet to be recovered, and the accused was not cooperating with the investigation.</span></p>

<p>The police official told PTI that both the security guards in the building, where the actor lives, were sleeping when the attacker entered by scaling the boundary wall.<br><br>"As the accused found both the security guards in deep slumber, he entered the building from the main entrance, where no CCTV camera has been installed. The accused removed his shoes and kept them in his bag to avoid making any noise and also switched off his phone," an official told the agency.<br><br>&ldquo;The accused entered the actor&rsquo;s flat in the Satguru Sharan building from the bathroom window with the intention of theft. After he entered the house, the actor&rsquo;s staff spotted him and started arguing with him. Soon, Saif Ali Khan came there, and sensing a threat, he held the accused tightly from the front,&rdquo; the Mumbai Police said.<br><br>&ldquo;As the accused did not get time to move, he started stabbing the actor in the back to free himself from the latter&rsquo;s grip. <p>In the early hours of Thursday, an intruder attacked Saif at his home, where he resides with his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their two children Tamiur and Jeh.<br><br>Saif sustained six injuries, including two deep cuts. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital at 3 a.m., where doctors performed an emergency surgery to remove a piece of the knife lodged in his body.<br><br>The accused in this case has been arrested by the Mumbai Police, and they took him back to Khan's house to recreate the crime scene on Tuesday. The man now identified as 30-year-old Mohammed Shariful Islam, is suspected to be a Bangladeshi national who reportedly asked for a ransom of Rs 1 crore (Rs 10 Million) and had entered Saif and Kareena's kids' room.
