<p>Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Dinesh Karthik hit a 108-metre-long six - the biggest of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season on Monday (April 15). Karthik hit the six during his 35-ball 83-run innings against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). In total, Karthik smashed seven sixes on a night which saw 38 maximums being hit in the match - the joint-most in a T20 game.</p>

<p>Karthik hit the six off SRH's T Natarajan on the first ball of the 16th over. It was a length ball outside the leg stump which Karthik sent to the midwicket region and the ball went onto the roof of the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. Have a look at the video below:</p>

<p>Chasing the record total, RCB started off with a blaze as Virat Kohli and Faf&nbsp;du Plessis scored 80 runs in 6.1 overs before Mayank Markande clean-bowled Kohli with a googly. RCB always needed something special to win the game but once Kohli departed, the chase derailed.</p>

<p>Defending a competitive target of 182, skipper KL Rahul summoned Yadav into the attack in the sixth over with RCB one down. On the very first ball, Yadav hustled opposition captain Faf du Plessis who rushed to take a suicidal single, only to find himself miles short of the crease.</p>

<p>From thereon, Yadav imposed himself completely on the match and picked up the wickets of Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell in one over. Both Australian batters were dismissed after failing to adjust to the thunderbolts being thrown by Yadav.&nbsp;</p>

<p>While Green was castled clean, Maxwell miscued a pull after failing to get under the 150+ kmph delivery. The pacer returned for his final spell in the 15th over and took the wicket of Rajat Patidar as well.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He also bowled the fastest delivery of the season at 156.7 kmph, improving on his record of 155.8 kmph from the previous match. Yadav's fastest delivery of the season is now fourth on the list of all-time fastest deliveries of the league. Ahead of him are Shaun Tait (157.7 kmph in IPL 2011), Lockie Ferguson (157.3 in IPL 2022) and Umrah Malik (157 kmph in IPL 2022).</p>

<p>Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bowler Mayank Yadav lit up the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 once again with his extreme pace against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 2. By the time Yadav was done with his spell of four overs, RCB was done in the chase and lost the game by 28 runs.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Yadav now has six wickets in two games and stands behind CSK's Mustafizur Rahman (seven wickets in three games) on the list of most wickets taken this season.</p>

<p>As for the match, LSG batted first and scored a decent total of 181/5 in 20 overs. For Lucknow, Quinton de Kock top-scored with 56-ball 81 while Nicholas Pooran hit an unbeaten 21-ball 40. Apart from them, Marcus Stoinis managed 15-ball 24 while skipper KL Rahul chipped in with 14-ball 20.</p>

<p>RCB had started the chase well, scoring 40 in 4.1 over before Virat Kohli was dismissed after scoring 22 off 16. It went all downhill for them from that point and they were eventually bowled out for 153 in 19.4 overs.</p>

The three-time runners-up have lost two out of three games and are at the ninth spot in the points table. Harbhajan feels they often make mistakes in terms of selecting their team for the season and pointed out that their bowling needs a lot of work.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In an interaction on Star Sports, Harbhajan stated, "They repeatedly make mistakes in the team they pick. They invest heavily in batting and that too foreign. They take mighty overseas batters but bowling has always been their weakness. It's the case now also and it's evident as well."</p>

<p>Harbhajan -- who was part of the Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) camp during his active days in the IPL -- further highlighted RCB's bowling woes after their seven-wicket loss to KKR in match 10 on March 29, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.</p>

The cricketer-turned-pundit said RCB did not back their players, adding that the strategy taken by the management during the auctions had hurt the franchise.&nbsp;</p>

<p>RCB suffered their second loss of the 2024 season at their home ground, Chinnaswamy Stadium, on Friday (Mar 29). Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) coasted to a comfortable victory by chasing the&nbsp;183-run target with more than three overs to spare.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"They don't back players. RCB couldn't get the best out of Shivam Dube, who is now winning matches for Chennai Super Kings. He was CSK's star performer in the title-winning season in 2023. When Shivam played for RCB, he failed to perform," Harbhajan told the host broadcaster.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Actually, players get backing at CSK, but the situation is different in RCB. If you send Dube to bat at the No. 5 or 6 slot, he will fail," he added.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Poor bowling lineup</strong></h2>

<p>The off-spinner said the bowling lineup of RCB did not inspire any confidence and that it wasn't enough to take the team to the playoffs.</p>

<p>“Where are the bowlers? They don’t have good bowlers in IPL 2024. For me, bowling is an area of concern. What did they do with Yuzvendra Chahal? He was their best bowler, but he was not retained. He is one of the legends of the game,” Harbhajan said.</p>

<p>Having started the tournament on a poor note, RCB will now take the field next week against Lucknow Super Giants at Chinnaswamy. Former captain Virat Kohli and finisher Dinesh Karthik have been the only two standouts with the other players yet to make any mark.&nbsp;</p>
