Bhuvneshwar Kumar, ace India seamer and Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) newest recruit, has picked a stunning hat-trick in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) for Uttar Pradesh. Playing against Jharkhand at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday (Dec 5), the right-arm seamer completed his debut T20 hat-trick in the 17th over, bowling a maiden that piled pressure on the opposition. A complete team show helped UP the must-win game by ten runs.

Giving Jharkhand a target of 161, Kumar began with his routine disciplined bowling, completing three overs inside the Powerplay for just six runs, though he remained wicketless. The overlooked India seamer returned to bowl the 17th over, picking his first T20 hat-trick by removing Robin Minz, Bal Krishna, and Vivek Anand Tiwari in consecutive deliveries. Besides, he bowled a maiden, completing his spell of 4-1-6-3.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction was done over two days in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia with all the 10 franchises vying with each other to fill up 246 possible slots out of a total of 578 registered players.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) entered the auction with the highest purse and made a huge buy in Shreyas Iyer for INR 26.75 crore (above $3 million) while Rishabh Pant went to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for INR 27 crore (approx $3.1 million).

"Just because he is Virat Kohli, 95 per cent fans want him to be the captain. But if you just go by his performances, it is not that impressive. This is my problem, I don't want to get carried away, because of hero worship, I don't want to get away from the cricket truth," he added.

Despite the rumours about their frosty relationship, the duo shared a heartwarming moment during the just-concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) season. After the KKR vs RCB match at Eden Gardens, the duo shared a warm embrace and talked animatedly.&nbsp;

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Virat Kohli reached another batting milestone during the eliminator against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on May 22 by becoming the first batter to score 8,000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Kohli scored 33 off 24 balls in the match to breach the 8000-run mark. He now has 8,004 runs in 244 innings of 252 matches at an average of 38 and a strike rate of 132. Kohli has hit 55 fifties and eight hundreds in the league - the most for any batter. The RCB batter is miles ahead of the competition in terms of most runs in IPL with Shikhar Dhawan being a distant second with 6,769 runs and Indian skipper Rohit Sharma third with 6,628 runs. Boult also took the wicket of RCB skipper Faf du Plessis (17 off 14 balls) as RCB finished the powerplay at 50/1. Kohli was next to fall to spinner Yuzvendra Chahal in the eighth over before Cameron Green (27 off 21) and Rajat Patidar added 41 runs in the next five overs for the third wicket. Ravi Ashwin dismissed Green to break the partnership before the veteran spinner sent back Glenn Maxwell for a golden duck on the very next ball. RCB had added 25 runs more to their total when Patidar (34 off 22) also departed in the 15th over. Mahipal Lomror's innings of 32 off 17 balls then took RCB past 150 as they finished at 172/8 in 20 overs. For Rajasthan, Avesh Khan was the pick of the bowlers with 3/44 in four overs while Ashwin took 2/19 in his four overs. Apart from them, Boult, Sandeep Sharma and Chahal also picked one wicket each.

SRH, who earlier in the day won by four wickets against Punjab Kings (PBKS), finished with 17 points from eight wins, five losses and one no result. Rajasthan also finished with 17 points from eight wins, five losses and one no result but were pushed down the order by SRH owing to a poor net run rate.

RCB, in a dramatic finish on Saturday (May 18), sealed the last spot with a win over Chennai Super Kings. It was RCB's sixth win on the trot after managing just one in their first eight games. Bengaluru finished with 14 points from seven wins and seven losses in 14 games.

Apart from RCB, Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants and CSK also finished with 14 points each but failed to make it to the playoffs due their lower net run rate than RCB.

Among others, Gujarat Titans finished eighth on the points table with 12 points from five wins and two results to go with seven losses as well. Punjab Kings finished ninth with 10 points from five wins and nine losses.
