Both sides are coming into this game on the back of a win in their respective last encounter. As a result, both LSG and RCB are in the top-4 in the points table. After getting the better of MI, will LSG make wholesome changes to triumph over Faf du Plessis-led RCB? Here's predicting Lucknow's XI versus Bengaluru:

Rahul and Quinton de Kock will continue to open the innings. Both have been good at the top with Rahul finally coming to his own with a century versus Mumbai. Both love playing against the RCB line-up and will come hard versus Faf & Co. this time around as well. Manish Pandey made a 29-ball 38, striking at 131.03, but is yet to do justice to his credentials. With some runs under his belt, will he be retained or the management will look at Manan Vohra? Even Krishnappa Gowtham can play as a hitter at No. 3 and bowl some useful overs of off-spin.

Marcus Stoinis, Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya will follow suit as the trio are not only able hitters and contributors with the bat but also vital all-rounders. They will give enough cushion to Rahul even during LSG's bowling. Ayush Badoni, Jason Holder -- another all-rounder -- Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi are certainities. Sri Lanka's Dushmantha Chameera's spot might be under the scanner. The Islander has only three wickets at an economy of 9.40. Will he be persisted or replaced by Andrew Tye? LSG can also play an India seamer and go without their full quota of overseas players.

In LSG's last encounter, they rode on captain KL Rahul's scintillating ton and Avesh Khan's 3-fer to beat the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) by 18 runs in defence of their score of 199/4. Later in the same day, RCB locked horns with Delhi Capitals (DC) and were lifted by fifties from Glenn Maxwell-Dinesh Karthik to post a mammoth 189/5. Match prediction for LSG vs RCB: For RCB, they need more contributions from their top order, especially from skipper Faf du Plessis and his predecessor Virat Kohli. On the other hand, Lucknow need more from some individuals such as Dushmantha Chameera, Manish Pandey, etc. Both teams might fancy chasing but the last two games have been won by the team batting first. Expect another close finish and a 170-plus scoring affair.

LSG vs RCB, IPL 2022 prediction today: Who will win Lucknow Super Giants vs Royal Challengers Bangalore match?

Skipper KL Rahul led from the front with a captain's knock as he powered Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to a comfortable 18-run win against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday (April 16). Rahul notched up his first century of the season as he played a terrific knock of unbeaten 103 runs off 60 balls to help his side post a big total of 199 runs on the board.

Asked to bat first, Rahul finally managed to find his rhythm this season as he got LSG off to a flyer. The stylish right-hander combined with his opening partner Quinton de Kock (24) to add 52 runs for the first wicket before posting another brilliant stand of 66 runs for the second wicket with Manish Pandey who played a crucial knock of 38 runs.

Rahul stayed unbeaten till the end and took Lucknow Super Giants closer to the 200-run mark. His 60-ball 103 was laced with nine fours and five sixes as the LSG skipper bounced back in style after being dismissed for a duck in his side's last outing against Rajasthan Royals.

After posting a strong total on the board, Lucknow Super Giants bowlers were right on the money as they managed to restrict a struggling Mumbai Indians batting line-up on 181/9 in 20 overs.

Skipper Rohit Sharma's lean patch continued as he was dismissed cheaply on 6 off 7 balls by Avesh Khan in the 3rd over of MI's run chase. Dewald Brevis then played some sensational stroked en route to his quickfire 31 off 13 balls and added 31 runs for the second wicket with Ishan Kishan before the duo was dismissed in quick succession.

Suryakumar Yadav was MI's biggest hope after the top-order faltered but he could only manage 37 off 27 balls and was well supported by Tilak Varma, who scored 25 off 14 balls to add 64 runs for the third wicket. However, MI's innings was derailed after the duo's dismissal as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and fell short by 18 runs in the run chase.

The likes of Jason Holder, Dushmantha Chameera, Ravi Bishnoi and Marcus Stoinis all picked up a wicket apiece as Mumbai Indians were handed their sixth defeat in a row.

KL Rahul slams stunning century against Mumbai Indians, becomes 3rd Indian to achieve elusive feat

MI have so far faced five straight defeats in their first five matches of the season and are on the brink of early elimination as they aim to bounce back to winning ways.

While their bowlers were taken to the cleaners by Punjab batters, the likes of Dewald Brevis, Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav kept them in the game during the run-chase.

Mumbai Indians' bowling has been their biggest concern this season as the lack of a quality partner for Jasprit Bumrah has cost them dearly. Their batting has also been below-par barring a few positives. Lucknow Super Giants, on the other hand, have managed three wins in five games so far this season.

The KL Rahul-led side lost against Rajasthan Royals by just three runs in their last game as skipper KL Rahul was sent back on a duck, and the likes of Jason Holder, K Gowtham and Ayush Badoni also disappointed with the bat. Both Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants will be looking to return to winning ways when they take on each other at the Brabourne Stadium on Saturday.

KL Rahul to Pat Cummins: Batters with fastest fifties in IPL history

KL Rahul was going to be one of the main batters for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their stiff 166-run chase versus the one-time winners Rajasthan Royals (RR) in match 20 of the IPL 2022 edition. However, captain Rahul fell for a first-ball duck in LSG's run-chase, to push the team on the back foot before they eventually lost the clash by mere three runs.

Talking about Rahul's dismissal, he was left gobsmacked by an absolute jaffa from RR pacer Trent Boult who bowled an inswinger from round the wicket. The delivery left Rahul with no time to react as the right-hander saw his stumps getting rattled in a jiffy. Here's the video of Rahul's dismissal:

RR vs LSG: Yuzvendra Chahal scripts a new record, becomes 2nd fastest to claim 150 IPL wickets

Trent Boult was breathing fire in Rajasthan Royals' (RR) face-off versus KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in match 20 of the IPL 2022 edition on Sunday evening (April 10). After Sanju Samson-led RR were asked to bat first and they rode on Shimron Hetmyer's 59 to post 165-6, Boult's opening spell tilted the game in RR's favour before they eventually won the close contest by three runs, at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

As Rahul & Co. came out to bat in their 166-run chase, the Lucknow skipper was left gobsmacked with an absolute peach of an inswinger from the New Zealand speedster. Thus, he was dismissed off the first ball of the run-chase before Boult also claimed Krishnappa Gowtham's wicket. He ended with 4-0-30-2 whereas Yuzvendra Chahal returned with 4 for 41 to take RR to a 3-run win.

While many thought it was Sri Lanka's former pacer and RR's current fast bowling coach Lasith Malinga's idea to ask Boult to bowl an inswinger from round the wicket, the Kiwi revealed the real mastermind and credited his compatriot James Neesham -- who was warming the RR bench -- for the memorable wicket.

IPL 2022: Rajasthan Royals vs Lucknow Super Giants - Head-to-head record, trivia, stats and squads

Quinton de Kock showed imperious form in his 80 off 52 balls as Lucknow Super Giants outplayed Delhi Capitals by six wickets for their third successive win in their debut IPL season here on Thursday.

Delhi Capitals lost their way after a sizzling knock from Prithvi Shaw (61 off 31) to end at 149 for 3 after Lucknow predictably decided to field first.

With the resources that Lucknow possess, 150 should have been a comfortable chase and the K L Rahul-led side made sure it was, getting home with two balls to spare on a tricky surface.

De Kock was at his destructive best as he shared a 73-run stand with his opening partner Rahul (24 off 25). The South African wicketkeeper-batter was particularly harsh on compatriot Anrich Nortje who was playing his first game since November.

The fit again pacer, playing his first IPL game in India, was smashed for three fours and a six by de Kock in an over leaking 19 runs. In what turned out to be a forgettable night for Nortje, the South African pacer had to be taken off the attack later after bowling two waist-high no balls.

After Rahul's fall, his team needed 76 off the last 10 overs. De Kock, who collected nine fours and two sixes, put the team on the cusp of victory with his second 50-plus score of the tournament.

With the pitch not the easiest one to bat on, Lucknow struggled to finish the game with even the in-form Deepak Hooda and experienced Krunal Pandya not finding the big hits. Lucknow eventually managed to get the job done with the young Ayush Badoni hitting the decisive four and a six off Shardul Thakur in the final over.

Earlier, Shaw's knock was all class before Lucknow bounced back in the game with an impressive bowling performance.

Young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi (2/22) was the standout performer for the new IPL entrants.

David Warner (4 off 12), returning to the franchise where he made his IPL debut back in 2009, struggled in his first innings of the season.

Off-spinner K Gowtham (1/23) was given the ball in the second over and Shaw did not let him settle, dispatching a full ball over cover for his first four of the innings.

Jason Holder was at the receiving end in the following over when Shaw pulled him for a six over mid-wicket. Then came the turn of pacer Avesh Khan who was hammered for three consecutive fours in the fourth over.

It seemed Shaw was batting on a different surface while the others struggled around him.

He used his quick hands to cut the ball and was equally quick to drive anything full over cover. It was a promising powerplay for Capitals who reached 52 for no loss in six overs.

However, Lucknow fought back after the powerplay with wickets of Shaw, Warner and Rovman Powell (3 off 10) in a space of 18 balls. Shaw was caught behind off Gowtham after he hit him for a straight six.

Warner fell to a poor shot off Bishnoi and Powell saw his stumps disturbed as he went for the slog-sweep off a googly from the young leg-spinner, leaving Capitals at 74 for three in the 11th over.

The onus was on skipper Rishabh Pant (39 not out off 36) to take the team to a respectable total and he did that in the company of Sarfaraz Khan (36 not out off 28) who was playing his debut game for the franchise.

Pant mainly targeted the straight boundaries and Sarfaraz, without taking much risks, showed skills that has fetched him a bagful of runs in domestic cricket.

Chasing a modest 150, LSG rode on Quinton de Kock's 80 and finishing knocks from Krunal Pandya and their young sensation Ayush Badoni (3-ball 10 not out) when the match went to the final over to win by six wickets. Following the winning runs, Badoni made heads turn by copying former Indian and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli's celebration style. IPL 2022: Lucknow Super Giants beat Delhi Capitals by six wickets in last over thriller

India and Pakistan haven't played a bilateral series since early 2013. Due to the political tension between the neighbouring countries, both sides continue to meet each other only in multi-nation or ICC events. During last year's T20 World Cup, in the UAE, the two Asian giants squared off against each other in the Super 12 round, which was a sellout in no time.

Thus, Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja remains hopeful of a fruitful talk with the Sourav Ganguly-led Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to convince their counterpart for a bilateral series in 2024-25. For the unversed, PCB will hold talks with the BCCI in Dubai, from April 7-10, and is expecting a favourable response from the latter, keeping politics aside.

As per PTI, Ramiz is planning to the senior BCCI officials on the sidelines of the ICC event and extend his proposal of a four-nation tournament along with discussing matters on the Asia Cup.

In a recent interview, Ramiz had mentioned that since the BCCI is being led by a cricketer, he has his hopes pinned on not leaving fans deprived of India-Pakistan bilateral series.

"India-Pakistan (2022 T20 World Cup) tickets were sold in one day, we don't have a political perspective on things and if a fellow cricketer is leading the BCCI, we should be approachable to each other since we don't know politics," said Ramiz.

"I'll talk to Ganguly regarding a four-nation tournament. The future of cricket is in triangular and four-nation competitions. Twenty20 leagues are taking away eyeballs from bilateral cricket, of which the novelty factor is decreasing," he further added.

IPL 2022: Will Manish Pandey be retained? Predicting Lucknow Super Giants' XI vs Delhi Capitals

Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya had a major fallout while representing Baroda in the 2020/21 domestic season. It resulted in Deepak shifting base from Baroda to Rajasthan in the 2021/22 season. However, fate had other things in mind as the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) franchise roped in both of them in the IPL 2022 mega auction.

Deepak and Krunal's inclusion in the Lucknow franchise surely made heads turn. Since Lucknow's opening game in the ongoing 15th season, all eyes have been on their camaraderie and equation on the field. In the franchise's maiden outing, versus the Gujarat Titans (GT), both seemed to have moved on from their past fallout as they hugged each other on-field and were comfortable in each other's presence.

Dwelling on his equation with Krunal, Hooda told Dainik Jagran recently, "Krunal Pandya is like my brother, and brothers do fight. We are playing with one aim, which is to win games for LSG."

IPL 2022: Greenply and KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants collaborate on a cricket cheer anthem

Lucknow Super Giants paid 25 times more than his base price of Rs 20 lakh to get Avesh Khan's services in IPL-15.

The move was worth it as his excellent bowling acted as the catalyst for his team's 12-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad here on Monday.

Heading into the lucrative T20 league as the most expensive uncapped Indian player, Avesh picked up four big wickets for only 24 runs and bowled a brilliant 18th over to turn the match decisively in LSG's favour.

Asked to bat first, skipper KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda struck useful half-centuries to lift Lucknow Super Giants to 169 for seven after a disastrous start.

Chasing 170, Kane Williamson's (16) innovation brought him two fours and a six but he paid the price for going overboard, his ramp shot off Avesh finding a sliding Andrew Tye at short fine leg in the fourth over with SRH score reading 25 for one.

Avesh brought about Abhishek Sharma's downfall with a change in pace as the batter failed to read it while trying to loft him.

As Sharma made his way back to the dugout, last-game's half centurion Aiden Markram walked out to join Rahul Tripathi in the middle, and the two began rebuilding the SRH innings.

Placed at 51 for two at the end of the seventh over, Tripathi used Tye's pace to hit the Australian bowler for three fours and then, using his wrists, smashed Krunal Pandya (2/27) for a six over fine leg.

A quite 10th over was, however, followed by the dismissal of Markram, the bowler being Krunal. Going strong at 44 off 30 balls, Tripathi tried to slog sweep Krunal and hit straight to deep mid-wicket, where Ravi Bishnoi was stationed.

Nicholas Pooran smashed Krunal over long-on for six and then carted Jason Holder (3/34) for 15 runs to bring the equation down to 50 form the last 30 balls.

Andrew Tye kept it fairly tight in the 17th over, giving not more than eight runs, before Pooran hoicked Avesh Khan over deep square leg for a maximum.

However, Avesh had the last laugh as Pooran mistimed his knee-high full toss.

Earlier, after his team lost three wickets for just 27 runs in the powerplay, Rahul (68 off 50 balls) found an able ally in Hooda (51 off 33 balls) and added 87 runs for the fourth wicket to revive the innings.

Rahul hit six fours and a six, while Hooda found the fence three times and also cleared it thrice. Coming back from a long break after playing their opener last Tuesday, SRH made a dream start and left the Super Giants in all sorts of trouble early on.

Making a strong comeback after the pounding in his team's heavy defeat against Rajasthan Royals, Washington Sundar (2/28) was handed the new ball and he delivered in his very first over, and SRH's second, dismissing the dangerous Quinton de Kock with his off-break bowling on a grassy pitch that prompted Kane Williamson to put two slips when Bhuvneshwar Kumar started the proceedings.

Backed to bowl in the powerplay despite going for plenty in the previous game, Washington got de Kock (1) to chip one to Williamson at cover.

Few moments later, Washington had Evin Lewis (1) trapped in front of the wicket after the swashbuckling West Indian batter failed to execute his slog sweep. It was another huge wicket for SRH given Lewis' blazing, match-winning knock against Chennai Super Kings last Thursday.

Manish Pandey struck Romario Shepherd for a four and a six but then, going for one too many, ended up lobbing a catch to mid-on in the same over to leave LSG in a spot of bother.

Spurred by the early success, Williamson effected bowling changes frequently but he may have delayed by at least an over in introducing the attacking T Natarajan while opting for Abdul Samad's innocuous, part-time seam up stuff at the DY Patil Stadium.

The pacy Umran Malik consistently hit 145 kmps but also leaked plenty of runs, allowing KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda to settle down and revive LSG's innings.

Having withstood the early reverses, the duo of Rahul and Hooda went about their task in a professional manner, finding the boundaries as well as running the singles and twos as the 100 came up in the 14th over with Malik going for 16 runs.

Shepherd broke the partnership when he had Hooda caught in the deep to signal the arrival of the in-form Ayush Badoni (19 off 12), who got into the groove with a boundary.

Lucknow Super Giants paid 25 times more than his base price of Rs 20 lakh to get Avesh Khan's services in IPL-15. The move was worth it as his excellent bowling acted as the catalyst for his team's 12-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad here on Monday.

Also read | KL Rahul hits 50th T20 fifty, joins Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in elite list Chasing 170, Kane Williamson's (16) innovation brought him two fours and a six but he paid the price for going overboard, his ramp shot off Avesh finding a sliding Andrew Tye at short fine leg in the fourth over with SRH score reading 25 for one. IPL 2022: KL Rahul scores 50th T20 fifty, joins Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in elite list

A lot has changed in Indian cricket post the 2021 T20 World Cup, in the UAE. Since then, Rohit Sharma has taken charge of Team India across formats whereas Rahul Dravid succeeded Ravi Shastri as the head coach of the senior men's team. While the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Ishant Sharma and Wriddhiman Saha have been dropped from the Test side, youngsters such as Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, Md Siraj and KL Rahul are rising in stature with each series.

Talking about Pant, the 24-year-old has seen massive growth in his international career since the India-Australia 2020-21 series Down Under. Since then, he has scored runs across all forms of the game and improved immensely as a wicketkeeper. Recently, India's batting coach Vikram Rathour heaped praise on the Indian youngster and feels that he is now a matured cricketer who cannot be dropped easily.

In this regard, Rathour told The Week, "He has suddenly grown up. Rohit and Dravid are in the saddle now, and he knows he is an important player in the India setup. He has now matured as a player. He is getting better and better, but there is still a long way to cover."

Rathour also feels that Pant has it in him to succeed MS Dhoni and become the next finisher for Team India. Following Dhoni's international retirement, the role of a finisher has been fulfilled by the likes of Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja, however, Rathour feels Pant is suited to make an impact lower down the order (despite being experimented to bat at No. 4).

"He will be a finisher at number five or six, he knows that. Nobody is pushing him to get a hundred in ODIs. He will always be an impact player and if he is consistently getting 40-50 and winning it for the team, then that is fine," Rathour added.

Pant is currently involved with the Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2022 edition. Under him, DC have won and lost a game each after their opening two encounters in the 15th season.

KL Rahul was a huge signing for debutants Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

Rahul is currently leading the LSG side and he also open the batting for them along with South Africa’s Quinton de Kock. Former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar believes that Rahul ‘has all the shots in the book’ and he can also be used as a finisher by the franchise in crunch situations.

IPL 2022: Sunil Gavaskar suggests different role for Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul

Match 12 of the IPL 2022 edition will see the one-time winners Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) take on the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai on Monday evening (April 4). While the Hyderabad franchise have lots to ponder upon after a forgettable start to their campaign versus Rajasthan Royals (RR), the KL Rahul-led Lucknow team will look to build on their maiden win in their previous game, beating the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by six wickets.

Talking about the last game of the Lucknow franchise, they came up against the defending champions Ravindra Jadeja-led CSK outfit. Asking them to bat first, Lucknow leaked runs at will and were set a tall 211-run target by the Yellow Army. However, Rahul's 26-ball 40, Quinton de Kock's 61, and fireworks from Evin Lewis (55 not out) and Ayush Badoni's 9-ball 19 propelled the new franchise to a memorable win. While their batters had a dream run versus Chennai, Avesh Khan-Andrew Tye were among the wickets despite being economical whereas Ravi Bishnoi was the star with the ball (4-0-24-2).

Predicting Lucknow's XI vs SRH

Lucknow will square off against a relatively weaker SRH line-up and hope to make it two wins in a row. They will play in a stadium that has seen contrasting results for batters. Meanwhile, spinners have been in business for more time than the pacers. Although a winning combination need not be changed, Jason Holder's availability will be a temptation for the Rahul-led franchise.

Given that Holder has had years of IPL experience with the SRH camp before joining Lucknow, he will be wary of the Orange Army's strengths and weaknesses and also how they go about their business. His inclusion seems logical, with Andrew Tye warming the bench.

I told him before the first game that he will be batting at three. Doesn't matter. Spinners or fast bowlers he knows one way. His timing has gotten a lot better. Meanwhile, Jadeja opined, "We had a very good start, Robbie and Shivam Dube were playing brilliantly. We had a good start, but in the fielding, we have to take catches then you'll win matches. We should have taken those chances. There was a lot of dew, the ball wasn't sticking to the hand. Next time, we have to practise with the wet ball. IPL 2022: MS Dhoni, Gautam Gambhir's interaction goes viral after LSG beat CSK in a run-fest - WATCH

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) went down to the debutants Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by six wickets as the Ravindra Jadeja-led Yellow Army failed to defend a mammoth 211-run target in match 7 of IPL 2022 edition, held at the Brabourne Stadium Mumbai on Thursday (March 31).

Riding on rapid knocks from Robin Uthappa, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Jadeja, Shivam Dube and MS Dhoni's cameo, CSK posted an impressive 210-7 in 20 overs after KL Rahul & Co. decided to bowl first. Nonetheless, Quinton de Kock's 61, Evin Lewis' 55* and Ayush Badoni's 9-ball 19* resulted in LSG's six-wicket win in the final over of the high-scoring affair. While dew and shabby fielding effort led to CSK's second defeat in a row, former cricketers and experts Ajay Jadeja and Parthiv Patel slammed Dhoni for taking full control and calling the shots amid skipper Jadeja's presence in the end overs.

In Cricbuzz Live, Jadeja pointed out, "It is wrong, there is no doubt about that. See, there is no bigger fan of Dhoni than I am, and that's because of his temperament. If this was the last match of the group where there was a do-or-die situation in terms of qualification, then I could've probably understood that you would want to take over the reins because it is an important phase. But if it happens only in the second match of the season.."

"See, I'm not saying this because it's Ravindra Jadeja. But even as a cricket fan, it looked a little odd. He (Jadeja) was standing right there and you continued to run the whole game. See, Dhoni is a very big player and I don't like saying it out loud. But I didn't like what I saw today."

“There hasn't been a captain like Dhoni nor there will be. But it was his decision to step down as CSK captain and today, instead of pushing him (Jadeja) forward, you have actually dragged him back. His confidence is dented. He wasn't in the game at all," Jadeja further explained.

“I'm not criticising the decisions. I'm being critical of the way he (Dhoni) took over. We noticed Dhoni speaking during the team meeting. There's no doubt Dhoni understands the game better and even CSK fans would be urging him to take over the captaincy again. But I have no doubt that he was wrong in taking over today. If Jadeja was even beginning to feel confident about his captaincy, he won't now," the former cricketer added.

Meanwhile, Patel stated, "If you have to develop someone you have to leave them. He will only become a captain if he is allowed to lead. He will learn only when he makes mistakes."

At this point, CSK's captaincy situation doesn't look good as Jadeja is not having full control on the field due to Dhoni's presence, leading to the team going haywire in crunch situations.

For the unversed, Dhoni had resigned as CSK captain just a few days before IPL 2022 commenced, on March 26. However, it seems CSK franchise have to rework their captaincy situation in order to bounce back in style in their title-defence campaign.

See, there is no bigger fan of Dhoni than I am, and that's because of his temperament. If this was the last match of the group where there was a do-or-die situation in terms of qualification, then I could've probably understood that you would want to take over the reins because it is an important phase. But if it happens only in the second match of the season.." "See, I'm not saying this because it's Ravindra Jadeja. But even as a cricket fan, it looked a little odd. It is wrong, no doubt about that: Former cricketers slam MS Dhoni over CSK captaincy situation after LSG loss

The cricketing action will continue to take place in IPL 2022 as match 7 of the 15th edition will see Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lock horns with the debutant team Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Thursday evening (March 31) at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.

Both sides are coming to this encounter with a defeat in their respective season-openers. Talking about the defending champions CSK, the Ravindra Jadeja-led Men in Yellow were a pale shadow of themselves as they were brushed aside by KKR's clinical display in the opening game at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Being asked to bat first, CSK managed a paltry 131 for 5 riding on former skipper Dhoni's 50* (38) and Ravi Jadeja's uninspiring 28-ball 26. In reply, KKR closed the run-chase in the penultimate over as the Chennai bowlers did fairly well in not leaking runs at will. Nonetheless, they also didn't apply much pressure with wicket-taking deliveries at regular intervals.

On the other hand, the KL Rahul-led Lucknow franchise faced Hardik Pandya's Gujarat Titans (GT), at the same venue on Monday (March 28). In a hard-fought match, Lucknow fought well courtesy a late surge from their lower-order and some tight bowling, however, they came second as they lost by five wickets in defence of 159. Thus, both Chennai and Lucknow will be desperate to avoid two successive losses at the beginning of the new season.

Match prediction for CSK vs LSG clash: So far, only one game has been held at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai this season. It was a 170-plus scoring affair, which went down to the wire. Expect a similar flat track where spinners will have a role to play along with some dew. Both sides will aim for early breakthroughs but CSK's depth and experience are likely to get them their first win of the season.

CSK vs LSG, IPL 2022 prediction today: Who will win Chennai Super Kings vs Lucknow Super Giants match?

AB de Villiers remains a big name in world cricket. After his abrupt international retirement, which he announced during IPL 2018 season, the former South African captain remained active in various T20 leagues and talks were on with the Cricket South Africa (CSA) board for him to make an international comeback for last year's T20 World Cup. However, the discussions didn't materialise into ABD's possible comeback at the international level.

De Villiers played the IPL 2021 edition, once again representing the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise. Soon after IPL 14's end, the legendary cricketer called it quits from all forms of the game. De Villiers signed off with 8,765 Test, 9,577 ODI and 5,162 IPL runs, respectively. Thus, he has left many awestruck with his versatality as a batter and continues to be an inspiration for many.

Recently, KL Rahul spoke about his fanboy moment with de Villiers when he first joined the RCB setup in 2013. In Gaurav Kapoor's Breakfast with Champions' new season, Rahul spilled the beans on his conversations with ABD and how he continues to leave him short of words.

"My kid in a candy store moment came in I think 2012 or 2013 season, which was my first. I walked in and (saw) Virat (Kohli), Chris Gayle, Zaheer Khan and AB, who was my favourite player and still is,” Rahul said. "I always go back and watch videos of him. Now, just before going to South Africa, I watched AB de Villiers hundreds in South Africa, then before going to England it was AB de Villiers in England. He has always been one of my favourite players,” he further revealed.

"I have a very nice, cute relationship with AB. I'm still very like... I don't have words. Nothing comes out. I try and then look like an idiot when trying to make a conversation with him after the games in IPL because there is so much I want to ask him but I don't know. It's a proper fanboy moment with him,” added Rahul.
