A major security breach has been reported at Bengaluru Central Jail after former MP and rape convict Prajwal Revanna was allegedly found using a mobile phone inside the high-security prison. The phone was reportedly recovered during a Central Crime Branch raid at the facility.

According to prison authorities, Revanna claimed that he had used the phone to contact his lawyer and family members. Officials also said the seized device contained numerous videos and that newspaper clippings were recovered from his possession.

Following the incident, the government suspended the jail's assistant superintendent, while the jail supervisor was served a show-cause notice. Fresh charges have also reportedly been filed against Revanna for possessing and using a prohibited device inside the prison.

The latest incident has once again raised questions over security arrangements and alleged VIP treatment at Bengaluru Central Jail, following previous controversies involving inmates using mobile phones and other prohibited facilities inside the prison.

Quick-commerce company Zepto has come under scrutiny after Karnataka’s Food Safety and Drug Administration shut a Zepto warehouse in Hoskote on the outskirts of Bengaluru following a surprise inspection.

Authorities reportedly observed several food safety violations, including non-compliant labelling, misbranding, unhygienic food handling and improper storage conditions.

Zepto said the inspection was routine and that the observations and recommendations shared by the food safety department would be addressed. The company also said it remains committed to maintaining food safety and hygiene standards.

According to reports, the woman, identified as Nageshwari, left behind a suicide note in which she allegedly accused her manager of repeatedly harassing and pressuring her at work.

She reportedly alleged that she was forced to accept responsibility for a mistake committed by another employee, threatened with replacement and pressured to resign. She also alleged that she was denied weekly days off and leave.

A major food safety crackdown is underway across Bengaluru after growing complaints and social media reports alleging serious hygiene violations at restaurants and hotels.

On the directions of Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, 60 special teams conducted surprise inspections at three-star and five-star hotels and restaurants across the city.

Officials reportedly found rotten onions, expired milk cartons, decaying frozen meat, unhygienic kitchens and vegetables showing fungal growth. Inspectors also flagged improper food storage, mislabelled products and violations of FSSAI labelling requirements.

Some establishments were also found failing to properly separate vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. Notices have been issued to the concerned food business operators, while food samples have been sent to laboratories for testing.

Two days ago, reports emerged that nearly 7,000 college students in Karnataka have been diagnosed with HIV. They attributed the figures to the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), saying that they were young people aged between 18 and 25. However, the Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society (KSAPS) has refuted the claim, calling the reports wrong.&nbsp;&nbsp;The Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society (KSAPS) has urged media organisations to publish the clarification. It said that the reports stemmed from a faulty interpretation of official data. It also labelled reports stating HIV testing has been made compulsory in colleges as "false and misleading."&nbsp;The Karnataka government has directed all government-aided and private engineering and degree colleges to organise Integrated Health Camps (IHCs) for HIV testing, screening and counselling. The decision was reportedly based on recommendations by KSAPS. Project Director Padma Basavanthappa has meanwhile said that data on HIV positive cases is not categorised into housewives, students, etc. There are no statistics that say 7,000 students have been infected by the disease.&nbsp;She added that around 39,000 people in the 18-35 age group have tested HIV-positive cumulatively since 2004. She strictly clarified that the figure of 7,000 students being circulated is factually incorrect. Later, they dragged him outside the temple before assaulting him with sticks.&nbsp;A video of the whole incident has also gone viral on social media.&nbsp;Following Lakshmi’s complaint, Chintaki Police initially registered a case (Crime No. 79/2025) under Sections 109, 118(1), 352, and 127(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
