Karthik Tyagi is part of the Kane Williamson-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2022. Having hogged the limelight during the 2020&nbsp;U-19 World Cup, the youngster also&nbsp;travelled to Australia as a net bowler during India's historic tour Down Under.

Post his success in the U-19 World Cup, Karthik earned his maiden IPL contract where he joined the one-time winners Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2020, representing them in two seasons where he claimed 13 scalps in 14 games. From there on, he was roped in by the Orange Army in this year's mega auction, for INR 40 million (INR 4 crore). Recalling his journey so far, Tyagi revealed how former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Suresh Raina helped him progress ahead in his career.

"Like I always say one thing, that after Under-16, Suresh Raina entered my life like a god because people started to recognise me when I was selected for Ranji Trophy. When I was 13, I participated in the Under-14 trials and this is where my cricketing journey began. I started playing for the Under-14 team and then Under-16. In the U-16, there was a season where I got 50 wickets in 7 matches. That is where the selectors started noticing that there is a player who has been taking a lot of wickets at the State level," he said in a video shared by SRH.

SRH started the tournament with two back-to-back victories but a good all-round show has turned their fortunes completely. The Kane Williamson-led side became the only team to win four consecutive games this year and they are currently fifty in the points table with eight points.

SRH will next take on Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday and a victory can catapult them into the Top 3 in the points table.

He kept watching the match but it looked like he was not having any emotions on his face. And I said to him, you asked me a question and now, you are quiet. He said, “Bhaiya, I was having a deep contemplation and I think 300 runs should really be enough".

“He made us all burst into laughter even though it was a very tense situation. It was really good. After the match, we were going back to our dressing room. Kuldeep Sen was very happy. Saini came to me and said, this is why I was saying to you that 300 would have been the safest total. I was having a conversation with the Team management, Rajamani and all said that we were short of 10-15 runs. And Saini was like, Bhaiya, I already told you right. We were actually short of 80 runs,” Ashwin revealed.

West Indies white-ball captain Kieron Pollard on Wednesday announced his retirement from international cricket though he will continue to freelance in private T20 and T10 leagues across the globe. The 34-year-old Pollard, who made his ODI debut back in 2007, fittingly played his last series against India, a country which has become his second home due to his long association with Mumbai Indians.

"Hi all, after careful deliberation, I have decided to retire from international cricket. It was a dream of mine to play for West Indies since I was a 10-year-old boy and I am proud to represent the West Indies for over 15 years in T20 and ODI format of the game," Pollard announced on his official Instagram page.

While the others had returned negative results in the latest round of tests conducted on Tuesday, another overseas player tested positive on Wednesday. The players are being tested again as the game between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings now hangs in balance. Earlier, the game was shifted from the MCA Stadium in Pune to Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai after five cases were detected in DC's camp. Punjab Kings have already left for the Brabourne Stadium while it is not known if the Delhi Capitals squad will be allowed to travel after the positive case. As per BCCI's guidelines, a team can play even with a minimal squad but the game is most likely to be rescheduled to a later date given the risk involved. Delhi Capitals (DC)'s camp has been hit by a string of COVID-19 cases ahead of their clash against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. DC all-rounder Mitchell Marsh along with four members of the support staff tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week following which their game against PBKS was moved from Pune to Mumbai. The match was earlier scheduled to be played at the MCA Stadium in Pune but will now be staged at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The emergence of COVID-19 cases in the camp has resulted in chaos for Delhi Capitals but the Rishabh Pant-led side will be looking to keep everything aside and aim to bounce back to winning ways when they lock horns with Punjab Kings on Wednesday (April 20). Many believed the game might get postponed after the emergence of COVID-19 cases but all other players and support staff barring the five members have returned negative results in the RT-PCR tests conducted on Tuesday. Stoinis had a smile on his face after the umpire's controversial call but was clearly not happy after he was dismissed on the next delivery. Stoinis was visibly frustrated after the dismissal on the very next ball as fans felt the wide call had a role to play in his departure.

When asked about the wide call going his way during the crucial juncture in the game, Hazlewood admitted he got lucky and said he might have to offer umpire Gaffaney a drink. Royal Challengers Bangalore rode on skipper Faf du Plessis' breezy 96 and Josh Hazlewood's brilliant bowling to inflict an 18-run defeat on Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL here on Tuesday. The 37-year-old du Plessis roared back to form after a string of low scores with a 64-ball knock to help RCB post 181 for six after being sent into bat.

Pace spearhead Hazlewood (4/25) then picked two wickets upfront and two at the fag end as RCB restricted LSG to 163 for eight to register their fifth win of the season.

Both Hazlewood and du Plessis' brilliant individual performances, though, maybe a bit overshadowed by the chatter around the two ball sequence leading to Marcus Stoinis' wicket in which a wide outside off wasn't called followed by him shuffling way too much in the next delivery and playing on.

Nevertheless, RCB are now second in the points table while LSG slumped to fourth. Opening the innings, du Plessis, who failed to put up a big score since his sensational 88 in RCB's first game of the season, anchored the innings to perfection and got out only on the penultimate ball of the final over.

Hazlewood rocked LSG's chase early on as he bowled a fine opening spell. Using the bounce and movement on offer, he accounted for the dangerous Quinton de Kock (3) and Manish Pandey (6) in quick time.

The Australian quick, who was consistent with his line and length, bowled a frugal spell, giving away just 25 runs. 
LSG skipper KL Rahul made his way back to the dug out soon after Pandey as a delivery down the leg-side kissed his bat and RCB opted to review it. UltraEdge showed a spike and RCB got their massive breakthrough, thanks to the brilliant review.

While Krunal Pandya (42) was scoring runs at a good rate, he looked uncomfortable against Glenn Maxwell, and eventually fell to the Australian.

LSG weren't able to string substantial partnerships together. Deepak Hooda (13), Stoinis (24) and Ayush Badoni (13) were guilty of wasting their starts. Harshal Patel (2/47) picked up two wickets while Mohammed Siraj (1/31) and Maxwell (1/11) accounted for a batter each.

Earlier, du Plessis had 11 boundaries and two sixes, playing shots all around the DY Patil Stadium. The Super Giants invited RCB to bat and the bowlers managed to strike at regular intervals but had no answers for the former South African captain.

Sri Lankan right-arm pacer Dushmantha Chameera (2/31 off 3) bowled a fruitful first over for LSG, snaring the wickets of opener Anuj Rawat (4) and Virat Kohli (0), whose struggles with the bat continued as he got out for a first-ball duck.

Maxwell (23) looked to continue his explosive run in the IPL. The Australian played a counter-attacking innings as he slammed Chameera for two fours and a six in the third over. The all-rounder, however, went down after a quick cameo while playing his favourite shot -- the switch hit -- as LSG took control of the match again.

Maxwell went for the reverse sweep off a Krunal Pandya (1/29) delivery but failed to middle it, with a diving Jason Holder completing the catch as RCB slipped to 44/3. Young Suyash Prabhudessai (10) followed a couple of overs later, even as du Plessis ensured RCB continued scoring at a healthy rate.

Alongside Shahbaz Ahmed (26), du Plessis added 70 runs for the fifth wicket, with the former playing the perfect second fiddle. The veteran batter switched gears in the slog overs with Dinesh Karthik (13 not out), who himself is in imperious form, by his side. Together they took RCB beyond the 180-run mark. Du plessis came close to scoring his maiden IPL century but was dismissed by Holder with one ball left in the innings.&nbsp;

Both Hazlewood and du Plessis' brilliant individual performances, though, maybe a bit overshadowed by the chatter around the two ball sequence leading to Marcus Stoinis' wicket in which a wide outside off wasn't called followed by him shuffling way too much in the next delivery and playing on. Nevertheless, RCB are now second in the points table while LSG slumped to fourth. Opening the innings, du Plessis, who failed to put up a big score since his sensational 88 in RCB's first game of the season, anchored the innings to perfection and got out only on the penultimate ball of the final over. Hazlewood rocked LSG's chase early on as he bowled a fine opening spell. Using the bounce and movement on offer, he accounted for the dangerous Quinton de Kock (3) and Manish Pandey (6) in quick time. The Australian quick, who was consistent with his line and length, bowled a frugal spell, giving away just 25 runs. LSG skipper KL Rahul made his way back to the dug out soon after Pandey as a delivery down the leg-side kissed his bat and RCB opted to review it. While Krunal Pandya (42) was scoring runs at a good rate, he looked uncomfortable against Glenn Maxwell, and eventually fell to the Australian. Earlier, du Plessis had 11 boundaries and two sixes, playing shots all around the DY Patil Stadium. The Super Giants invited RCB to bat and the bowlers managed to strike at regular intervals but had no answers for the former South African captain. Sri Lankan right-arm pacer Dushmantha Chameera (2/31 off 3) bowled a fruitful first over for LSG, snaring the wickets of opener Anuj Rawat (4) and Virat Kohli (0), whose struggles with the bat continued as he got out for a first-ball duck. Maxwell (23) looked to continue his explosive run in the IPL. The Australian played a counter-attacking innings as he slammed Chameera for two fours and a six in the third over. Young Suyash Prabhudessai (10) followed a couple of overs later, even as du Plessis ensured RCB continued scoring at a healthy rate. Alongside Shahbaz Ahmed (26), du Plessis added 70 runs for the fifth wicket, with the former playing the perfect second fiddle. The veteran batter switched gears in the slog overs with Dinesh Karthik (13 not out), who himself is in imperious form, by his side. Together they took RCB beyond the 180-run mark. Du plessis came close to scoring his maiden IPL century but was dismissed by Holder with one ball left in the innings.

Karthik has been exceptional as a finisher for RCB so far this season and has already produced a couple of match-winning knocks for his team. The veteran wicket-keeper batter has so far notched up 210 runs in seven matches for RCB at a stunning strike rate of over 200 and has displayed amazing hitting prowess.

After setting the season alight with his performances, Karthik has made it clear that his larger goal is to secure a spot in the Indian team for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia later this year. Karthik had recently said he is doing everything he can to ensure he can get a chance to represent his country at the T20 World Cup Down Under and win matches for India.

Former India captain Gavaskar has also put his weight behind Karthik and urged the selectors to include him as a finisher in India's T20 World Cup 2022 squad. The batting legend also said the 36-year-old's age should not be a factor in the selection and that only his performances should be considered.

"He said he wants to be a part of the Indian Team for the T20 World Cup. So what I am saying is don't look at his age, just look at what he's producing," Gavaskar said on&nbsp;Star Sports.

"He's just changing the complexion of the game with his performance. He's doing it for his team. He's doing the job that you can expect him to do at number 6 or 7 at the (T20) World Cup (in October-November)," he added.
