Meanwhile, PCB chairman Najam Sethi recently said, as quoted by India Today, "We have made it very clear that unless the Asia Cup is held on a hybrid model like we have proposed, that is India playing its matches at an offshore venue and Pakistan hosting the remaining games at home, we will not accept any other schedule and neither play."

"We will not lose our hosting rights. Security is no excuse for them now and we have told them if their government is not giving them clearance to play in Pakistan, show us some written proof of this," Sethi added.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for this year's Asia Cup. It is set to be held in September ahead of this year's ODI WC in India, in October-November.

Several months later, during an event organised by Sporting brand PUMA, Kohli was asked what went behind the scenes and how he managed to pull that off? Elaborating on the same lines, Imran added that India’s ability to raise funds brought arrogance into their behaviour and that they almost dictate the terms in world cricket.

"It is unfortunate, the relationship between Pakistan and India. There is a lot of arrogance in the way India now behaves in the cricketing world as a superpower. Because of their ability to generate a lot of funds, a lot more than any other country, I think they almost dictate now as a sort of the arrogance of a superpower of whom they should play and who they shouldn't," said Imran.

Meanwhile, the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League began on Friday, March 31st and will go on till May 21st.

Abdul Razzaq is regarded as one of the finest all-rounders for Pakistan. The yesteryear star represented Pakistan in 46 Tests, 265 ODIs and 32 T20Is in his international career, which spanned from 1996 to 2013. We used to face security threats from India as well, but if permission is received from the government of both countries then the tour will happen. If the tour doesn't happen, we will give those people a chance. All they want is that there should be no cricket between them," Afridi further said.

India last toured Pakistan during the 2008 Asia Cup and in 2006 for the bilateral series. Although both last faced in a bilateral series in India in 2012/2013, since then have just squared off in ICC events only.

The Indian women’s cricket team started their 2023 T20 World Cup campaign on a high by beating arch-rivals Pakistan by seven wickets at Newlands in Cape Town on Sunday. India’s star captain Harmanpreet Kaur lauded the young guns in Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Gosh – both of whom played sensationally&nbsp;as the women’s team chased down 150 inside the final over.

"Pakistan batted well but end of the day we wanted to win the game," captain Harmanpreet said at the post-match presentation.

"Jemimah and Richa batted really well. All the players are keen to do well for the team. Whoever is getting an opportunity is pushing themselves. Good sign for us. Every match is important, no matter the opponent, but obviously Pakistan is a big game. We will love to have some time in the nets. We want to work on a few things," she added.

Meanwhile, batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan didn’t get off to a great start but made up for it in the end all thanks to an unbeaten 68 from the captain Bismah Maroof. She was well accompanied by Ayesha Naseem, who scored 43 and helped Pakistan put up their highest total in T20 World Cup history.

India’s chase was right on the track with Shafali Verma providing the perfect start in absence of Smriti Mandhana. Harmanpreet also contributed later on with 16, but the fate of the game was decided by&nbsp;two future superstars who held their nerves and completed a chase with utter ease.

Placed in group B, India’s next challenge will be the Windies team against whom they will take the field on Wednesday, February 15th at Newlands in Cape Town.

The Indian women’s cricket team began their T20 World Cup campaign with a thumping seven-wicket win over arch-rivals Pakistan at the Newlands in Cape Town on Sunday. A high-class unbeaten 53 from the young-gun Jemimah Rodrigues saw India cross the line without much hassle. Under-19 T20 WC winning captain Shafali Verma also contributed with&nbsp;the bat, scoring 33 while chasing.

Pakistan women’s team won the toss and elected to bat first. Javeria Khan departed early in the second over but that didn’t stop the pair of keeper-batter Muneeba Ali and captain Bismah Maroof to find gaps at will. As they looked comfortable out there, India chipped in with two quick wickets and applied breaks on the scoring rate. Until the first ten overs, the Indian bowlers looked in good control.

Asia Cup to be held in September before ODI World Cup, confirms ACC chairman Jay Shah

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly played down the idea of an India vs Pakistan Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Stuart Fox,&nbsp;Melbourne Cricket Council (MCC) chief&nbsp;alongside the Victorian Government recently inquired about the possibility of hosting both India and Pakistan for a three-match Test series at the 'G'.

The idea that seemed great on paper doesn't really concern the BCCI members. Speaking on the topic, a BCCI source told ANI,&nbsp;"No such plans for India and Pakistan Test series in the future or in any country, if someone has such kind of wish keep it to yourself."

It was during the recently-concluded Boxing Day Test between Australia and South Africa at the iconic MCG that Stuart Fox confirmed his interest in the same while speaking with SEN Radio on the sidelines.&nbsp;

India and&nbsp;Pakistan haven't faced each other in a Test match since 2007 while no bilateral series between the two teams have taken place since 2013.&nbsp;

In 2022, both teams met three times - twice during the Asia Cup in Dubai where both won a game each, and lastly during the T20 World Cup at the MCG - where India won the contest on the final ball.

However, after BCCI refused to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023, the PCB has threatened to boycott the 50-over World Cup in India, scheduled for October-November next year.

Stuart Fox, Melbourne Cricket Council (MCC) chief alongside the Victorian Government recently inquired about the possibility of hosting both India and Pakistan for a three-match Test series at the 'G'. The idea that seemed great on paper doesn't really concern the BCCI members. Speaking on the topic, a BCCI source told ANI, "No such plans for India and Pakistan Test series in the future or in any country, if someone has such kind of wish keep it to yourself." It was during the recently-concluded Boxing Day Test between Australia and South Africa at the iconic MCG that Stuart Fox confirmed his interest in the same while speaking with SEN Radio on the sidelines. However, after BCCI refused to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023, the PCB has threatened to boycott the 50-over World Cup in India, scheduled for October-November next year. "Wouldn't it be great that it wasn't just Australia-centric and Victoria-centric, that we're catering for all the countries and filling the stadium all the time. So we have asked. Tod phod hui, unhone apna chief selector, selection committee fire kar di, captain badal diye, kyunki unko hazam nahi hua ki Pakistan unse kaise aage nikal gaya. After India lost 4 wickets inside 7 overs, the pressure mounted on them. Virat and Hardik Pandya then started building a partnership.

Virat got into his groove, smashing Shaheen and even Haris for some incredible sixes and kept India in the game. It was then in the last over that the drama peaked.

An over that almost had everything saw Ravi Ashwin and Kohli helping India win the match on the last ball.

For his marvellous 82* off 53 balls, Virat Kohli was adjudged Man of the Match.

This eventually happened and Women’s T20 cricket was introduced for the first time. 8 teams were divided into two groups while India and Pakistan were placed together.

After the hard-fought group games and knockouts, it all came down to the first final in Commonwealth Games, where Australia and India - two powerhouses in women’s cricket, took on each other.

Australia after batting first scored 161 with opener Beth Mooney hitting 61. For the Indian eves, Renuka Singh and Sneh Rana picked two wickets each.

India looked comfortable in their chase; even at one point their scorecard read 118-2 inside 15 overs. However, the tide changed quickly as wickets started to tumble.

Losing the remaining wickets inside 34 runs meant Indian women’s team went down chasing and lost the match by nine runs.

While they stood second, Australian women’s won the maiden gold medal.

After India’s new-poster boy Neeraj Chopra won his maiden Olympic gold medal in javelin throw event at the Tokyo Games 2020, he created history in 2022 as well by winning the gold medal in Diamond League - thus becoming the first-ever Indian to achieve this.

Neeraj, who has surpassed Usain Bolt as the most written-about athlete in 2022, won the gold medal with the best throw of 88.44m in his second attempt. Neeraj, however, didn’t start off well in the finals as his first throw was counted as foul.

While Czech Republic's Jakub Valdejch had the best throw of 84.15m in the first attempt, Neeraj made a stunning comeback in his following throw attaining a distance of 88.44m, which more or less sealed the deal for him.

Off all the events listed, this broke the most hearts. Tennis great, Switzerland’s Roger Federer announced in 2022 that he is retiring from professional tennis. The 20-time Grand Slam winner on September 15th in a note on his social media handles informed everyone about his decision.

In that note, the 41-year-old wrote, “The Laver Cup next week in London will be my final ATP event. I will play more tennis in the future, of course, but just not in Grand Slams or on the tour.”

Federer had been nursing a knee injury for a long time and cited the same reason for his retirement. The six-time ATP Masters winner didn’t play a competitive match since Wimbledon 2021 where he lost in the quarters to Hubert Hurkacz.

Pakistan’s cricket board chief Ramiz Raja has again insisted that Pakistan will not compromise on the whole situation of hosting Asia Cup next year if India continue to persist on their stance of not travelling to Pakistan. The ACC had earlier granted Pakistan the hosting rights for Asia Cup 2023, and now, with people close to the BCCI and the Indian government claiming that India might not go to Pakistan for the same, the venue could well be changed.

Speaking for the nth time on this matter, Ramiz said if the venue for the Asia Cup is shifted elsewhere, Pakistan is not keen on travelling to India for next year’s 50-over World Cup or for any tournament for that matter.
