SEC said Sung Mo 'Jay' Jun, a former Netflix software engineer, was at the 'centre of the insider trading ring' and accessed key information about Netflix’s subscriber growth to pass on the information to his brother, Joon Mo Jun, and his friend, Junwoo Chon, ahead of the streaming company’s quarterly earnings from 2016 to 2019.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per the complaint, Chon paid Jun $60,000 in cash for his assistance between 2016 to 2017.</p>

The report also states that after Jun left Netflix in February of 2017, he continued to receive insider information from Ayden Lee, another software engineer at Netflix, all the way through 2019, which he used to inform his own trading and informed about the samer to his brother and friend, according to the SEC.&nbsp;</p>

Sung Mo Jun, Joon Mo Jun, Chon and Jae Hyeon Bae, another Netflix employee who rejoined the company after Jun had left, also used a group messaging platofrm to share insider information and trading tips, and Bae had instructed Joon Mo Jun to sell shares of Netflix ahead of the company’s 2019 earnings report, the SEC reportedly said.</p>

"In total, Sung Mo Jun, Joon Jun, and Chon netted over $3.1 million in illicit profits from trading Netflix securities based on material, non-public information provided by Netflix insiders," the complaint said.</p>

The SEC charges come along with another criminal case in Seattle, where the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Washington filed a criminal information against Sung Mo Jun, Joon Mo Jun, Chon and Lee.</p>

This demonstrates the kindness and generosity of the people of India towards the people of the Maldives".</p>

<p>The 580 tonnes of essential food items include rice, wheat flour, sugar, yellow dhal, onions and potatoes.</p>

<p>Thanking the Indian Navy, Abdulla said,"I wish to also thank the Indian armed forces, and in particular, the Indian Navy, and the commanding officer and crew of INS Kesari&nbsp;for their support in carrying this aid to the Maldives. "</p>

<p>Indian mission in the Maldives said,"This is for Indian nationals, except from Kerala who are being brought back by INS Jalashwa"</p>

<p>INS Jalashwa will be bringing back 700 Indian nationals from &nbsp;Malè to Kochi on 15 May 2020 which will be during her second sortie. &nbsp;Jalashwa has already repatriated 698 citizens to India on 10 May during her first sortie. &nbsp;INS Magar, carrying 202 Indian nationals will be reaching &nbsp;Kochi later today.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Solo music sensation Bruno Mars has now ventured into the world of bands with Silk Sonic. After releasing his first single as member of a band, ‘Leave the Door Open’, Mars has now pushed the release of Silk Sonic’s first full-length to January 2022.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Almost after six months after Ryan Fischer was shot while taking care of Lady Gaga's entertainer's pets, he has launched a GoFundMe campaign with the aim of raising enough money to purchase a van so he can continue traveling the country in search of healing methods 'that support the process of growing from trauma'.</p>

Now an entertainment portal has reported that Gaga has covered Fischer's medical bills related to the shooting, which was a sum of $100,000 (approx).</p>

"All that time spent reclaiming my body, I now needed to be equally devoted to strengthening my emotional and mental health. With no vehicle, apartment, and having run out of savings and surviving on donations from generous loved ones, I am humbly asking for your help. This is not an easy thing to ask, but I have started to realize sharing your vulnerability with others is exactly when radical change begins to occur for everyone involved," he wrote on his funding page, which has reportedly generated roughly $3,600 of a $40,000 goal so far.</p>

According to Fischer, he has left his Hollywood Hills home to drive across the United States in a 1991 Ford Falcon as he dealt with 'long bouts of depression and doubt and self-pity' and visited friends, family, and new places that added towards his growth journey.&nbsp;</p>

The car, however, is no longer in working condition after two months of use, and his money-raising attempts are dedicated to securing a new vehicle so that he can continue with the rest of his journey.</p>

For the unversed, in February, Fischer was shot in the chest while he walked three of Gaga's French bulldogs on North Sierra Bonita Avenue in Los Angeles.&nbsp;</p>

A pair of assailants jumped out of a vehicle and assaulted Fischer before making off with two of Gaga's pets, Koji and Gustav, while another, Asia, was able to escape.&nbsp;</p>

Five suspects were later arrested in connection with the incident after a woman returned the dogs safely.</p>

According to the report by a news agency, those arrested were unaware of the fact that the dogs belonged to Gaga, and that they targeted the animals only for their high value.</p>

After the attack, Gaga offered a $500,000 reward for the safe return of her dogs, and released a statement praising Fischer's heroism. "I continue to love you Ryan Fischer, you risked your life to fight for our family. You're forever a hero."</p>

Subsequently, Fischer's recovery has been both physical and emotional, according to an Instagram post.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Although he has lost his legal battle with his ex-wife Amber Heard in the United Kingdom that has reportedly caused problems in his acting career, Johnny Depp will now get a second libel trial to show he didn’t physically abuse her, reports confirm.</p>

On Tuesday, a Virginia judge reportedly ruled that the decision last November in Depp’s suit against the publisher of The Sun shouldn’t impact his second case against Heard over an opinion-editorial piece published in the Washington Post.</p>

Amber Heard is being sued in that latter case over a December 2018 column where had written, “I became a public figure representing domestic abuse, and I felt the full force of our culture’s wrath for women who speak out.”</p>

This suit in Virginia was expected to go to trial first, but owing to multiple delays, Depp’s U.K. case went on trail instead. &nbsp;<br />
In the U.K., the actor has sued over a news item that had labelled him a 'wife beater'. After a trial that lasted weeks, Judge Andrew Nicol found substantial truth to the article in The Sun, specifically with regards to 14 incidents that happened during the troubled marriage, reports said.</p>

The ruling, which Depp was unsuccessful in getting overturned through appeal, left him in the atypical position of arguing he didn’t get everything he wanted in the country, which has allegedly been the case for libel tourism since the burden of proof is on the defendant and not the complainant. Also, public figures needn’t show actual malice, says a report.</p>

Amber Heard, in turn, has argued that the Virginia court should recognize the U.K. court judgment, and since both actions centered on whether Depp was a domestic abuser, declare the matter already adjudicated.</p>

In an opinion on Tuesday, Fairfax County Chief Judge Penney Azcarate reportedly rejected Heard’s motion because of the lack of privity. While Heard may have argued that her interests were aligned with The Sun, the judge says those interests weren’t identical.</p>

"The Sun‘s interests were based on whether the statements the newspaper published were false," she has reportedly written. "(Heard’s) interests relate to whether the statements she published were false."</p>

In examining whether the U.S. and U.K. have judicial systems to the extent that Depp shouldn’t be in a state to re-litigate his claim of not being a domestic abuser, the judge later notes that Heard wasn’t a party in the U.K. case and wasn’t subject to the same discovery rules.&nbsp;</p>

"In fact, Defendant could not have been a named defendant to the U.K. litigation because her allegedly defamatory statements were made after the U.K. action commenced," the judge added.</p>

<p><br />
Last month, Heard’s lawyer argued that if Virginia court didn’t accept the U.K. judgment, there would be nothing to stop Depp from bringing new cases anytime any publication repeated words: that he was a 'wife beater'.</p>

"If anything, upholding English libel judgments in the United States would create the chilling effect and could create a dangerous precedent," the judge wrote.</p>

Reportedly, the trial is scheduled for early next year and will also examine Heard’s counterclaims.</p>

This one hits out of the park, at least for some. “Am I?... Maybe This Will Tell Me’ is about an outwardly confident-‘maybe’ bisexual kid whose go-to solution for real problems is the Holy Google. Tap, click, repeat. Celine Held &amp; Logan George’s story starts out well; full of promise, and then reduces into a short film that couldn’t cram in all its crucial plot points. That teenage rush, of wanting to learn to live more before living, withers away as flawed storytelling takes over.&nbsp;</p>

Staying true to its essence, after all, ‘Modern Love’ is built on the foundation of faulty humans and troubled decisions, is ‘Second Embrace, With Hearts and Eyes Open’—the last one for this year. Sophie Okonedo’s amicably parted with her husband, while he is acing the ‘Best Daddy’ game, she seems to be ‘getting worse’. Despite the grin-able camaraderie, and a lot of hook-ups-between-exes, the climax leaves one with a sense of hopelessness—pretty much what we have been feeling all-year long, aren’t we?&nbsp;</p>

Modern Love 2 review: To humanity, with hope

<p>At the age of nine, Avantika Vandanapu—who goes by her first name on social media—won the dance reality show, 'Dance India Dance Lil Masters North America'. But, deep within, she was reeling under the stress of racial profiling and a sense of insecurity that came with incessant bullying. "The racial discrimination I faced was when I was younger and that did kind of set the tone for my growth and the kind of insecurities I would have," Disney’s 'Spin' lead actress tells WION during&nbsp;a conference call from America.&nbsp;</p>

In this&nbsp;exclusive conversation with us, on the day of her big musical release 'Spin', the dancer- &nbsp; &nbsp;turned-actor—all of 16—recounts the horrid details of racism she had to face in the hands of 'fellow kids', her dreams and hopes for the future and how an unorthodox move by Disney shaped her career, hopefully for the better.</p>

<strong>WION: You are Disney’s first Indo-American lead. How did you land a gig like that?</strong></p>

<p><br />
<strong>AVANTIKA:</strong> I actually auditioned for this role when I was 12 years old and it was my first Hollywood audition ever and I was still working in India at the time. But I still auditioned and got a call back, and that was my ticket to Los Angeles, ticket to Disney to see Hollywood for the first time. Unfortunately, after that, the project (referring to 'Spin') went on hold. Actually, not unfortunately though, it was going on hold for further development for authenticity and make it as well-rounded as possible. But, it came back (to life) at the beginning of last year and I re-auditioned for it again and here, the audition process is pretty standard and it lasts about four months for a feature film. You have to do an audition, a call back and a producer session and then you perform in front of the entire network and in this case, it was Disney. So, this is the same process that i went through and Disney actually told me in the (audition) room—which is a bit unorthodox, that rarely happens—that I was booked and that was so exciting! It was like a full-circle project for me that I auditioned for and also the first big project that I booked.&nbsp;</p>

<strong>WION: As an Indian-American, what kind of racial discrimination have you faced so far, if at all?</strong></p>

<p><br />
<strong>AVANTIKA: </strong>As an Indian-American, the kind of racial discrimination I have faced has mostly ever come up when I was younger. When I was younger, I had comments like 'Go back to your country', calling me a Paki (a slang for Pakistani immigrants living in America). I think it was common a lot for kids my age and people of South Asian descent faced, and making fun of me putting oil in my hair and making fun of the fact that I eat curry. It was just really disappointing comments and things that were being said by, unfortunately, kids my age which I think is even more hurtful to see. You know, a child spout that kind of hateful things. But, as I have grown up and seen the rise of social media, bring awareness to how these words can impact people, I have been fortunate to experience less of this racial discrimination and it’s helped my confidence a lot more. So, predominantly the racial discrimination I faced was when I was younger and that did kind of set the tone for my growth and the kind of insecurities I would have. But, I am finding that my confidence is growing because of how social media has made other South Asians and I feel less alone in our struggles and they are bringing awareness and bringing to light how these comments are affecting us. People are being a little bit more considerate and a little bit more sensitive, which I think is good.&nbsp;</p>

<strong>WION: Through 'Spin', what are the most common stereotypes about India that you wish to shatter?</strong></p>

<strong>AVANTIKA: </strong>I would like to shatter through ‘Spin’ that, you know, Indians can only be in STEM because we have so much talent and our culture is specially so art-centric as well. We teach our kids Carnatic music and instruments and dance. So I hope that at least the American perception of us Indians would be that we are equally as talented and equally as capable in artistic fields as well in STEM. So that is one stereotype I would like to shatter I would also like to shatter (the belief) that all of our parents are rigid and super strict because even though they may be hesitant to send us to artistic fields for career-wise—STEM comes from a sense of protectiveness, and a sense of ‘we want to keep our kids safe and make sure they have a comfortable life’—but it doesn’t come from a hyper sense of control even though that maybe a by product. I hope this movie conveys the nuances of that kind of a relationship and enlighten the public.&nbsp;</p>

<strong>WION: India turns 75 today, what are your dreams and hopes for the Indian youth?</strong></p>

<strong>AVANTIKA:</strong> My dreams and hopes for the Indian youth is that we show the world how amazing we are. I think India is so underestimated in so many ways and I hope our youth is able to show everyone their power and all the things we are capable of, and I also hope that we make India a safe place for people from different walks of life. I hope that the Indian youth is able to change the mindset that India has had and begins to turn us into a more progressive direction and allow for LGBTQ+ youth to be themselves and for women to be themselves. I hope we are able to promote that kind of a direction and I feel like for such a beautiful country, we need to have a sense of beautiful sense of diversity for our community as well. That’s my hope!</p>

I chose this career seeing myself doing this for a very, very long time. Probably, for the rest of my life. I would absolutely love to do it and I am working really hard. Hopefully, it will happen for me. But, no one can tell the future, right&nbsp;<em>(laughs!)</em>?<br />

"The racial discrimination I faced was when I was younger and that did kind of set the tone for my growth and the kind of insecurities I would have," Disney’s 'Spin' lead actress tells WION during a conference call from America. In this exclusive conversation with us, on the day of her big musical release 'Spin', the dancer- turned-actor—all of 16—recounts the horrid details of racism she had to face in the hands of 'fellow kids', her dreams and hopes for the future and how an unorthodox move by Disney shaped her career, hopefully for the better. Excerpts from the chat: WION: You are Disney’s first Indo-American lead. How did you land a gig like that? AVANTIKA: I actually auditioned for this role when I was 12 years old and it was my first Hollywood audition ever and I was still working in India at the time. But I still auditioned and got a call back, and that was my ticket to Los Angeles, ticket to Disney to see Hollywood for the first time. Unfortunately, after that, the project (referring to 'Spin') went on hold. Actually, not unfortunately though, it was going on hold for further development for authenticity and make it as well-rounded as possible. But, it came back (to life) at the beginning of last year and I re-auditioned for it again and here, the audition process is pretty standard and it lasts about four months for a feature film. You have to do an audition, a call back and a producer session and then you perform in front of the entire network and in this case, it was Disney. So, this is the same process that i went through and Disney actually told me in the (audition) room—which is a bit unorthodox, that rarely happens—that I was booked and that was so exciting! It was like a full-circle project for me that I auditioned for and also the first big project that I booked. WION: As an Indian-American, what kind of racial discrimination have you faced so far, if at all? AVANTIKA: As an Indian-American, the kind of racial discrimination I have faced has mostly ever come up when I was younger. When I was younger, I had comments like 'Go back to your country', calling me a Paki (a slang for Pakistani immigrants living in America). I think it was common a lot for kids my age and people of South Asian descent faced, and making fun of me putting oil in my hair and making fun of the fact that I eat curry. It was just really disappointing comments and things that were being said by, unfortunately, kids my age which I think is even more hurtful to see. You know, a child spout that kind of hateful things. But, as I have grown up and seen the rise of social media, bring awareness to how these words can impact people, I have been fortunate to experience less of this racial discrimination and it’s helped my confidence a lot more. So, predominantly the racial discrimination I faced was when I was younger and that did kind of set the tone for my growth and the kind of insecurities I would have. But, I am finding that my confidence is growing because of how social media has made other South Asians and I feel less alone in our struggles and they are bringing awareness and bringing to light how these comments are affecting us. People are being a little bit more considerate and a little bit more sensitive, which I think is good. WION: Through 'Spin', what are the most common stereotypes about India that you wish to shatter? AVANTIKA: I would like to shatter through ‘Spin’ that, you know, Indians can only be in STEM because we have so much talent and our culture is specially so art-centric as well. We teach our kids Carnatic music and instruments and dance. So I hope that at least the American perception of us Indians would be that we are equally as talented and equally as capable in artistic fields as well in STEM. So that is one stereotype I would like to shatter I would also like to shatter (the belief) that all of our parents are rigid and super strict because even though they may be hesitant to send us to artistic fields for career-wise—STEM comes from a sense of protectiveness, and a sense of ‘we want to keep our kids safe and make sure they have a comfortable life’—but it doesn’t come from a hyper sense of control even though that maybe a by product. I hope this movie conveys the nuances of that kind of a relationship and enlighten the public. WION: India turns 75 today, what are your dreams and hopes for the Indian youth? AVANTIKA: My dreams and hopes for the Indian youth is that we show the world how amazing we are. I think India is so underestimated in so many ways and I hope our youth is able to show everyone their power and all the things we are capable of, and I also hope that we make India a safe place for people from different walks of life. I hope that the Indian youth is able to change the mindset that India has had and begins to turn us into a more progressive direction and allow for LGBTQ+ youth to be themselves and for women to be themselves. I hope we are able to promote that kind of a direction and I feel like for such a beautiful country, we need to have a sense of beautiful sense of diversity for our community as well. That’s my hope! WION: What are your aims and aspirations for your acting career? Do you see yourself being a full-blown lead in Hollywood movies, even as a grown up woman? AVANTIKA: My aims and aspirations are that I would love to be a lead in a Hollywood movie even as a grown up. I chose this career seeing myself doing this for a very, very long time. Probably, for the rest of my life. I would absolutely love to do it and I am working really hard. Hopefully, it will happen for me. But, no one can tell the future, right (laughs!)? In the court documents, Hough has reportedly accused the &nbsp;couple of 'witness intimidation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligent infliction of emotional distress, harassment, assault, battery, sexual assault, and sexual harassment'.</p>

The lawsuit, obtained by a global news organisation, shows a detailed report on how back in September of 1994, when Hough and Petty were both 16 and living in Jamaica, Queens (New York), she ran into him on her way to school when he later held her at knifepoint, led her into a nearby house and raped her.&nbsp;</p>

Petty was arrested that day for first-degree rape and later pleaded guilty to attempted rape, says the same report. He was sentenced to 18 to 54 months in prison.</p>

On February 25 last year, Petty was charged for failing to register as a sex offender, which is a requirement under the 2006 Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).&nbsp;</p>

He was later added to the California Megan’s Law database, which tracks sex offenders in the state of California, where Petty and Minaj reside with their son, whom the rapper gave birth to last year.&nbsp;</p>

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office announced in March 2020 that the charges were dropped against Petty, but if he were to be convicted of the same felony charge, he would face up to 10 years in prison, which is the statutory maximum.</p>

The New York State department has labelled Petty as a level-two sex offender, meaning it deems him as a moderate risk to reoffend, based on the 1994 attempted rape conviction.</p>
