<p>England all-rounder Ben Stokes lauded captain Jos Buttler after the team's memorable triumph in T20 World Cup 2022. Stokes was England's hero in the final against Pakistan as he slammed an unbeaten half-century to help his team chase down the target of 138 runs with an over to spare and register a comfortable five-wicket win.</p>

<p>Heaping praise on Buttler, Stokes credited him for England's victorious T20 World Cup campaign and said the star batter has now created his own legacy as captain. Buttler had taken over as England's captain in T20Is in June This year after Eoin Morgan decided to retire from white-ball cricket.</p>

<p>Stokes praised Buttler for taking control of the team in a short time and blossoming into the great leader that he already was. The star all-rounder said the current England skipper has now created his own legacy by winning the T20 World Cup crown.</p>

And Jos has now created his own legacy - a T20 World Cup-winning captain," Stokes said on Sky Sports.</p>

<p>Stokes also took a dig at himself during his interview on Sky Sports after his heroics in the final. The England all-rounder said Morgan could have won the T20 World Cup as captain but someone blew the chance up referring to Marlon Samules' exploits against him in the 2016 T20 World Cup final.</p>

<p>"He (Eoin Morgan) had the chance to become the T20 World Cup winning captain but someone blew that up," Stokes said leaving everyone in splits.</p>

<p>Congratulatory messages have been pouring in for the T20 World Cup-winning team England after they won the final clash against Pakistan. On the other hand, the Babar Azam-led team was consoled by the Pakistan cricket fraternity.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Jos Buttler's side scripted history as they beat Pakistan by five wickets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday (November 13) to win their second Twenty20 World Cup title. England became the first dual white-ball champions, as now they hold both the 50- and 20-over titles.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Indian pacer Mohammed Shami took a dig at former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar on social media after England won the T20 World Cup 2022 title on Sunday. <p>While the reason behind Shami's response is not known, some fans were quick to point out the former Pakistan pacer had questioned the senior Indian pacer's selection in the T20 World Cup squad. <p>England shattered a few records with their memorable triumph as they lifted their second T20 World Cup trophy having won their maiden title back in 2010. They equaled West Indies' record for most T20 World Cup titles with both teams now having won the trophy twice each.</p>

<p>England also scripted history by becoming the first team to hold both T20 and ODI World Cup trophies at the same time in men's cricket. England won the ODI World Cup crown back in 2019 after defeating New Zealand in a thrilling final, and are the reigning world champions in the 50-over format.</p>

<p>It was no repeat of 1992 as England thrashed Pakistan by five wickets in the final to win the T20 World Cup 2022 title at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne on Sunday. Ben Stokes slammed an unbeaten half-century to help England chase down the low-key target of 138 runs with an over to spare and lift their second T20 World Cup trophy with a comprehensive win.</p>

<p>Stokes, who hadn't played much international cricket in the build-up to the World Cup, once again rose to the occasion&nbsp;in a big game for the reigning ODI World Cup champions and proved why he is regarded as one of the best all-rounders in the world.</p>

<p>In pursuit of the 138-run target, England were reeling at 45/3 at one stage in the run chase after losing their top three quick successions before Stokes steadied the ship for Buttler's men.&nbsp;He allowed others to go after the bowlers while holding the fort on one end.</p>

<p>Stokes added 39 runs for the fourth wicket with Harry Brook (20) before sharing a crucial 48-run stand for the fifth wicket with Moeen Ali (19). The left-hander took his time in settling down but seamlessly shifted gears in the death overs to take England home comfortably.</p>

<p>Shaheen Shah Afridi got Pakistan off to a flying start with the ball in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) as he cleaned up England opener Alex Hales with a cracking delivery. Afridi struck in the very first over of England's run-chase to draw the first blood for Pakistan.</p>

<p>In pursuit of the 138-run target at the MCG, England got off to a stuttering start as Hales departed cheaply after scoring just 1 run off two deliveries. The half-centurion from the semi-final against India was bamboozled by a stunning delivery from Afridi in the first over.</p>

<p>It was a brilliant inswinger from Afridi bowled at good length which completely deceived Hales before shattering his stumps leaving the England opener stunned.</p>

<p>UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has sent a special message to the England cricket team ahead of the all-important T20 World Cup 2022 final against Pakistan. England will lock horns with Babar Azam &amp; Co. in a blockbuster summit clash at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne on Sunday (November 13).</p>

<p>This will be the first time England and Pakistan will meet each other in the final of the T20 World Cup. Both teams have won the trophy once and have played some quality cricket so far in the tournament to make it to the final. While Pakistan got the better of New Zealand in the semi-final, England defeated India to book a spot in the final.</p>

<p>Sunak wished luck to the England cricket team ahead of the final and said he will be cheering for them like every other cricket fan in the country.&nbsp;"Good luck to @englandcricket in the T20 World Cup final against Pakistan tomorrow. <p>England will play two additional men's Twenty20 Internationals to the five T20Is originally planned when they will tour Pakistan in September/October 2022, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Chief Executive Tom Harrison announced on Tuesday following his meeting with Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ramiz Raja.</p>

<p>Pakistan captain Babar Azam returned to form with a record-breaking 158 yet once again found himself on the losing side as England completed a 3-0 one-day international series clean sweep at Edgbaston on Tuesday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>His highest score at this level saw Azam become the quickest player to 14 hundreds in men's ODIs as the 26-year-old reached the landmark in 81 innings -- three fewer than South Africa's Hashim Amla.</p>

<p>Together with Mohammad Rizwan, he shared a stand of 179, a Pakistan partnership record against England in an ODI.</p>

<p>England's makeshift one-day international team put the COVID-19 issues that hit the previous squad behind them to bowl out Pakistan for 141 runs before cruising to a clinical nine-wicket win in the series opener in Cardiff on Thursday.</p>

<p>Stand-in skipper Ben Stokes led an entirely fresh England XI, including five debutants, after a COVID-19 outbreak in the squad during the recent series win over Sri Lanka meant all 16 players initially selected had to self-isolate.</p>

<p>But the revamped hosts were on the front foot from the start, with paceman Saqib Mahmood marking his return to the side with four wickets for 42 to help bowl out Pakistan with just under 15 overs to spare.</p>

<p>Chasing 142 for a 1-0 lead in the three-match series, England lost Phil Salt in the fifth over before fellow opener Dawid Malan and Zak Crawley steadied the ship.</p>

<p>Malan (68 not out) brought up his second fifty in his fourth ODI appearance and Crawley (58 not out) also scored a half-century on his ODI debut as England cruised home in 21.5 overs.</p>

<p>"It was a very clinical performance," said Stokes after leading the team to victory despite them having spent only one training session together on the eve of the match.</p>

<p>"Any time you get the opposition four down early on then you're massively ahead in the game so that helps -- especially when you're captain for the first time.</p>

<p>"Not every game of&nbsp;cricket&nbsp;goes that smoothly for us."</p>

<p>England made a rousing start with the ball in hand on a sunny afternoon as Mahmood trapped Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq leg-before with the first delivery of the match.</p>

<p>Two balls later, Mahmood picked up his second wicket when Pakistan skipper Babar Azam -- the top-ranked ODI batsman -- departed for a duck after edging to Crawley at second slip.</p>

<p>Mohammad Rizwan was next to be dismissed for 13 before Mahmood trapped Saud Shakeel in front of the stumps to leave Pakistan teetering at 26-4.</p>

<p>Opener Fakhar Zaman, who was making a return to the ground where he made a fifty in Pakistan's 2017 Champions Trophy semi-final win over England, offered stiff resistance with Sohaib Maqsood as they added 53 runs for the fifth wicket.</p>

<p>The partnership, however, ended with a farcical run out when Fakhar called Maqsood for a single and then left him stranded as James Vince flicked the bails.</p>

<p>Pakistan's hopes of posting a competitive total ended with Zaman (47) miscuing a square-cut straight to point off leg-spinner Matt Parkinson.</p>

<p>England captain Eoin Morgan said he was playing "better than ever" as he led from the front in a five-wicket win over Pakistan in the second Twenty20 international at Old Trafford on Sunday.</p>

<p>Morgan came in on a hat-trick after leg-spinner Shadab Khan had reduced England, who were chasing a stiff victory target of 196, to 66-2.</p>

<p>But the Irishman made a blistering 66 off just 33 balls and with fellow left-hander Dawid Malan (54 not out) took the game away from Pakistan during a third-wicket stand of 112.</p>

<p>Victory, achieved with five balls to spare on a sunny afternoon, saw the 50-over world champions go 1-0 up in a three-match series following Friday's rain-marred no result in Manchester.</p>

<p>The 33-year-old Morgan considered his international future after leading England to World Cup glory with a dramatic Super Over win in last year's final at Lord's.</p>

<p>But it now looks as if he will lead England at the 2021 T20 World Cup in India.</p>

<p>Asked if he was playing better than ever, Morgan told Sky Sports: "I think I am and that is backed up by stats over the last couple of years, they've been the most productive of my whole career which is great.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"If I can combine a little of that form with experience, then hopefully it will contribute to more wins," the player of the match added.</p>

<p>This was the highest successful chase against Pakistan in a Twenty20 international, surpassing Australia's 199-7 in a thrilling 2010 World Twenty20 semi-final in St Lucia.</p>

<p>Veteran batsman Mohammad Hafeez made 69 in Pakistan's 195-4 that also featured 56 from captain Babar Azam, the world's number one-ranked Twenty20 batsman.</p>

<p>"Our total was good but we didn't bowl well, we struggled with our bowling," said Babar. "Credit goes to Malan and Morgan for how well they played.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"We'll learn a lot from this series. Under pressure, I need to handle the bowlers and tell them a few things," added the 25-year-old novice skipper.</p>

<p>Pakistan's cause was not helped when they had to reshuffle their attack after left-arm quick Mohammad Amir limped off having bowled just two overs.</p>

<p>"He's feeling pain in his right hamstring, it's been iced and they (Pakistan's medical staff) will see him tomorrow (Monday)," a team spokesman told AFP when asked if Amir would be fit for Tuesday's series finale, also at Old Trafford. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Jonny Bairstow and Tom Banton got England's chase off to a sound start.</p>

<p>But a partnership of 66 ended when Bairstow, on 44, miscued Shadab to short fine leg.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Next ball, with the batsmen having crossed, Banton -- fresh from 71 on Friday, his maiden T20 international fifty, was lbw for 20.</p>
