<p>In his order, Engoron said since the beginning of his trial “my chambers have been inundated with hundreds of harassing and threatening phone calls, voicemails, emails, letters and packages.”</p>

<p>“The First Amendment right of defendants and their attorneys to comment on my staff is far and away outweighed by the need to protect them from threats and physical harm,” the judge added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Christopher Kise, Clifford Robert and Alina Habba, lawyers for the former president, and his adult sons, “are prohibited from making any public statements, in or out of court, that refer to any confidential communications, in any form, between my staff and me,” Engoron wrote in the order.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He also warned that failure to abide by this order would result in “serious sanctions”. This comes after the New York judge said that the three lawyers made remarks about his clerk and falsely accused her of “bias” and “improperly influencing” the trial.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Engoron said he has an “unfettered right” to consult with his staff members throughout the trial.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Trump’s second son was also confronted with evidence showing that he had signed off on the accuracy of his father’s financial statements that estimated the value of trophy properties, Trump National Doral golf club in Florida and Seven Springs estate in New York City.&nbsp;</p>

<p>State lawyer Andrew Amer also presented emails where Eric discussed classifying his father’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida as a private residence, which would help boost its value as opposed to it just being a club which hosted events.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He also said that he did not recall many of the interactions or had little involvement while he oversaw other aspects of their business. “I pick my phone up at five in the morning and I put it down at midnight. I have thousands of calls,” he said with irritation under questioning by Amer, as per Reuters.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Donald Trump Jr. who is the first member of the Trump family to testify in this case, took the stand for about one and a half hours. During this, he said that during his father's presidential stint between 2017 and 2021, he and his brother Eric oversaw the Trump Organization.&nbsp;</p>

<p>US Representative Eric Swalwell, a Democrat from California, testified for the Colorado lawsuit and said Trump’s attempts to decrease tensions hours after the violence began did very little to calm the lawmakers who were placed under lockdown and later certified the elections.</p>

<p>“I feared that if Republicans were going to continue to challenge the outcome, the mob would return and the scene on the floor could become combustible,” said Swalwell, as quoted by Reuters. &nbsp;</p>

<p>On Friday, one of the attorneys for James, as quoted by CBS, said that the state will rest the trial which has already seen four weeks of testimonies, once Trump's children testify.</p>

<h2><strong>What is the Muslim travel ban?</strong></h2>

<p>After winning the 2016 US presidential election, Donald Trump signed <strong><a href="https://immigrationhistory.org/item/muslim-travel-ban/">an executive order in late January 2017 </a></strong>that prohibited travel and refugee settlement from select predominately Muslim countries. The order banned travel to the US for 90 days from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen, and also suspended the resettlement of all Syrian refugees.</p>

<p>"Some of the countries with remaining inadequacies face significant challenges. Others have made strides to improve their protocols and procedures, and I commend them for these efforts," he added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Trump pointed out that it was Washington's policy to protect American citizens from terrorist attacks and other public safety threats. Screening and vetting protocols and procedures associated with visa adjudications and other immigration processes play a critical role in implementing that policy, he said.</p>

<h2><strong>2017 order sparked nationwide stir</strong></h2>

<p>According to a report by Immigration History, Trump's Muslim travel ban order sparked protests across the US at airports, and immigration rights, refugee resettlement, and civil liberties organisations undertook several legal challenges to the order on the grounds that it constituted religious discrimination.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The suits against the travel bans resulted in court injunctions temporarily blocking the order and groups in opposition to the ban also blocked a second iteration of the executive order, the report said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In June 2018, the Supreme Court, in a 5-4 opinion, ultimately allowed a third version of the executive order to go into force, which expanded the list of barred travellers to include nationals from Venezuela (limited to government officials) and North Korea.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Two years later, the Trump administration expanded visa restrictions to&nbsp;six more countries–Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Nigeria, Sudan, and Tanzania–citing screening and national security concerns in those countries.</p>

<p>Upon his victory against Trump in the 2020 presidential election, current <strong><a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidential-actions/2021/01/20/proclamation-ending-discriminatory-bans-on-entry-to-the-united-states/">President Joe Biden reversed the ban </a></strong>in his first week in office. A White House spokesperson said that Biden "was proud to overturn the vile, un-American Muslim ban enacted by Donald Trump.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a statement on January 20, 2021, Biden criticised the Muslim travel ban order.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The previous administration enacted a number of Executive Orders and Presidential Proclamations that prevented certain individuals from entering the United States — first from primarily Muslim countries, and later, from largely African countries. Those actions are a stain on our national conscience and are inconsistent with our long history of welcoming people of all faiths and no faith at all," Biden said.</p>

<p>He said that the travel ban order undermined the US national security, and jeopardised the country's global network of alliances and partnerships. "Make no mistake, where there are threats to our Nation, we will address them," Biden added.</p>

<p>He called for the resumption of visa services for the affected countries, a review of information-sharing relationships, and a plan to strengthen partnerships.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Judge Arthur Engoron who is presiding over Trump’s civil fraud trial imposed another fine on the former president after summoning him from the defence table to testify about the comments he made to reporters hours earlier during a break about “a person who’s very partisan sitting alongside” the judge.</p>

<p>As per Reuters, the US presidential hopeful ahead of the elections next year, was welcomed amid cheers in the US state as he filed for the presidential primary.&nbsp;</p>

<p>During the 2016 race after Trump had signed up on the first day of the filing period, he sent Vice President Mike Pence to file his paperwork for the 2020 contest in line with the tradition of other incumbents who asked their surrogates to finish the paperwork.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Vote for Trump and solve your problems,” he wrote on the commemorative poster at the statehouse in the city of&nbsp;Concord that all the candidates are asked to sign, as per the Associated Press.</p>

<p>According to the AP, candidates this year have until October 27 to officially sign up and dozens of White House hopefuls are expected to do so in the upcoming days.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Notably, while Trump had won both the 2016 and 2020 Republican primaries in New Hampshire, he lost the state in both general elections.</p>

<p>"I learned that the subject post was never removed from the website," he said. "And, in fact, had been on that website for the past 17 days. I understand that it was removed late last night but only in response to an email."</p>

<p>Trump's lawyer Chris Kise said it was "inadvertent" that the post was able to live on the "back page" of Trump’s campaign website.</p>

<p>"Truly this appears to be inadvertent," Kise said, adding, "I certainly apologise on behalf of my clients."</p>

<p>As part of the deal, she will serve six years of probation, will be fined $6,000 and will have to write an apology letter to Georgia and its residents. She also recorded a statement for prosecutors and agreed to testify truthfully against her co-defendants at future trials.</p>

<p>Prosecutors said&nbsp;she participated in an unauthorised breach of election equipment in a rural Georgia county elections office.</p>
