<p>Kohli recalled and said, "We were all in Malaysia for the U-19 World Cup. I remember the day when the drafts were happening and the U-19 dynamic was different&nbsp;as we very rightly so had a money cap. That was the only time when I saw a restriction on how much could you be picked for, if you haven't played for India. I remember even that moment for us was so amazing. The amount that we were picked for, when they revealed, we were like, we couldn't believe it, we went absolutely crazy."</p>

<p>The right-arm pacer recently earned his maiden call-up in the Indian squad for the upcoming ODI series against West Indies at home. Avesh thanked Potning for always backing him during his time with Delhi Capitals and revealed the former Australia captain always told him that he would play for India one day.</p>

<p>Avesh was part of the India U-19 team during the 2016 U-19 World Cup. He was later picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore and made his IPL debut in 2017. He played just one game in his debut season in 2017 before being bought by Delhi Capitals in 2018. However, he managed to make only six appearances in his first season with DC.</p>

<p>He played only one game each in the 2019 and 2020 seasons before an impressive run in the 2021 edition last year. Avesh scalped 24 wickets in 16 matches last season and has had a remarkable rise as he looks set to make his India debut soon.</p>

Avesh said he was always among those waiting for chances in the Delhi Capitals squad but finally managed to get his opportunity last year and did enough to impress Ponting and keep his spot in the side.</p>

<p>"He kept telling me to stay ready for my chance. Because I was always among the 12-13 players who would be selected wouldn’t be able to make my way to the playing XI, but last year I got to play from the first match and I could live up to his expectations," said Avesh.</p>

Iyer reportedly expressed his desire not to be retained by DC as he wants a leadership role which he was not going to get at the Delhi-based outfit.</p>

He missed the first of IPL 2021 this year due to injury and was replaced as Rishabh Pant as captain, who continued leading the side even after Iyer's return in the second leg.</p>

<p>Iyer is reportedly in talks with the two new IPL franchises and his association with Delhi Capitals is all set to end. Former India pacer Irfan Pathan recently gave his take on Iyer's desire to leave DC and said there is something going on at the franchise which is not out in public yet.</p>

<p>In an absolute sensational way, KKR's Rahul Tripathi smashed a six in the penultimate ball to inspire his side to enter the final. Venkatesh Iyer struck a&nbsp;half-century that helped KKR to overcome a late wobble.&nbsp;</p>

<p>KKR needed 136 to win and looked in control of the match after fine knocks from openers Iyer (55) and Shubman Gill (46) before five quick wickets forced a thrilling finish.&nbsp;</p>

IPL 2021: Twitter hails Kolkata Knight Riders' stunning win over DC as 'one of the best comebacks'

<p>IPL 2021 edition saw two new captains in the form of Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson. While Samson took charge of the Rajasthan Royals (RR), taking over from Steve Smith, Pant replaced Shreyas Iyer after the Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper injured himself ahead of IPL 14's first leg, in India early this year.</p>

<p>While Iyer joined the DC franchise before the second and final leg, in the UAE, the team management continued with Pant as the skipper for the remainder of the season. Under Pant, DC topped the league stage and bowed out after losing the Qualifier 2 to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). On the other hand, Samson-led RR finished at the seventh position.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Though T20s is regarded as a format for the youngsters, Sanjay Manjrekar still prefers experience over youth when it comes to leading a side in T20s. Hence, the former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator made a big claim on Pant and Samson being given captaincy in IPL 2021.</p>
