At the post-match presentation, Dhawan said, "It was frustrating. But we didn't bowl well in the first six overs. We should have taken a couple of wickets with the way the pitch was behaving. With the no ball, we believed but credit to Liam for the way he played. I feel my decision to bowl spinner the last over was wrong and it shifted the momentum towards them. The pacers didn't bowl full enough. We need to bowl in the right areas on these kinds of surfaces and it is hurting us."

Dhawan, however, didn't touch the topic of Arshdeep. PBKS remain in the playoffs race but by the barest of margins. They need to win their remaining game, versus Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Dharamshala on Friday (May 19), and need other results to also favour them.

IPL 2023: PBKS deliver final knockout blow to DC's playoff hopes as Prabhsimran's ton edges host by 31 runs

Former India captain and commentator Sunil Gavaskar has heaped praise on Punjab Kings (PBKS) star Jitesh Sharma after an impressive run in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Punjab are all set to play Delhi Capitals on Saturday, May 13 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. According to Gavaskar, Jitesh has been a big factor in Punjab’s run in the tournament with them still standing a chance to make the playoffs.

"Jitesh Sharma has been contributing well for PBKS, he's been striking the ball at a good rate at the back end of the innings. He's giving Punjab just the push and momentum towards the last 4/5 overs, which they have not had in the previous years. So his contribution with the bat cannot be undermined,” Sunil Gavaskar said while speaking to the broadcasters.

Jitesh is making a massive impact as a finisher/power-hitter for PBKS. In 11 games so far, he has scored 239 runs at an average of 26.55 and a strike rate of 165.97. His best score this season is 49*. He has turned up with small, but impactful scores for his team in this season.

After the Saturday's clash, PBKS will take on DC again in the return leg at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala while they will also conclude the season at the same venue against 2008 champions Rajasthan Royals. Currently, they have 10 points from 11 matches and will look to end the season on a high, trying to make the last four.

According to Gavaskar, Jitesh has been a big factor in Punjab’s run in the tournament with them still standing a chance to make the playoffs. "Jitesh Sharma has been contributing well for PBKS, he's been striking the ball at a good rate at the back end of the innings. He's giving Punjab just the push and momentum towards the last 4/5 overs, which they have not had in the previous years. So his contribution with the bat cannot be undermined,” Sunil Gavaskar said while speaking to the broadcasters. Jitesh is making a massive impact as a finisher/power-hitter for PBKS. In 11 games so far, he has scored 239 runs at an average of 26.55 and a strike rate of 165.97. His best score this season is 49*. He has turned up with small, but impactful scores for his team in this season. After the Saturday's clash, PBKS will take on DC again in the return leg at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala while they will also conclude the season at the same venue against 2008 champions Rajasthan Royals. Shardul, who was named the Player of the Match, lauded Delhi's bowling unit that worked in tandem to deliver in a crunch game for the franchise with the playoffs spot up for grabs.

"I always like to perform in crunch times, the last two games were important and I always feel happy when I rise to the right occasion. 6th over was a big over where I got two wickets, they were cruising and in both innings fast bowlers were going for runs in the powerplay and as soon as the powerplay ended, the runs stopped.

"The spinners came in and did a good job. As a bowling unit we were trying to hit good areas, but after 12th over there was dew which is why we did not bowl Kuldeep Yadav. Warner opened the innings with Sarfaraz Khan and was not looking to face the first ball as he headed to the non-striker's end at the start of the first over.

However, the Aussie star decided to change the strike at the last minute after it was confirmed that part-time spinner Liam Livingstone will bowl the first over for PBKS. Warner had a change of mind and was seen walking towards the striker's end to face the first ball from Livingstone.
