<p>Ram Gopal Varma is in news again for a controversial remark. A few weeks back, the filmmaker had got embroiled in a Twitter spat with actress Suchitra Krishnamoorthy when he had stated that he likes women's bodies and not their brains.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The filmmaker maintained his stance in a recent interview with The Times Of India.&nbsp;"The brain does not have a gender. A woman can have it, a man can have it. The sexual aspect is very particular and specific. A woman has an extra thing which is her sensuality and which I admire." Varma said he had mentioned the same in his book 'Gun and Thighs'.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Varma who has shifted his base to Goa said that the state is best suited for the kind of films he is making. "My office ‘Factory’ is not in Mumbai anymore. I was in Hyderabad for a major part of the lockdown but have shifted out of Mumbai in the past few months. Everyone has got used to a different way of communicating; personal meetings are a thing of the past. Everybody is talking and doing meetings on online chats”.</p>

<p>Varma's next '12 o’Clock' is a horror film which stars Mithun Chakraborty, Manav Kaul and Flora Saini. Praising Chakraborty, the filmmaker said, “He plays a psychiatrist who encounters the supernatural but being a man of science, cannot come to terms with it. Despite being the intense actor that he is, Mithun has never played a role like this in his career. Then there’s Makrand Deshpande, who plays a peon whose daughter claims that she’s responsible for the spate of serial killings happening in the city. People don’t know if she is mentally challenged or a psychopath. The movie was shot before the coronavirus pandemic shut us indoors and the remaining parts were filmed in Hyderabad."</p>

<p>Akshay Kumar&nbsp;has reportedly got himself a hike in his movie fee.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Now each of his films will cost the makers dearer as latest reports suggest that <a href="https://www.wionews.com/topics/akshay-kumar">Akshay Kumar</a> has spiked his fees from Rs 100 crores to Rs 135 crore.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The report also suggests that film producers are willing to rope in Akshay Kumar despite this because of his massive popularity and success rate with films.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Over the last few months in the lockdown, Akshay Kumar has gradually hiked his fees from 99 crores to 108 crores and finally settled in on 117 crores for the films he signed recently. Every producer wants to have Akshay on board, considering his low risk, low budget, and assured return model, leading to excessive demand in the market. For the films which are slated for a 2022 release, Akshay will charge a bomb of Rs 135 crores per film," a source was quoted.</p>

<p>The source added that Akshay's film earns somewhere between 80 to 90 crores from the Satellite and digital rights alone. “The production budget of most Akshay Kumar films will be in the range of Rs. 35 to 45 crores, in addition to 15 crores more for print and publicity, taking the total in the range of Rs. 50 to 60 crores. Taking the number of his acting fees into account, the overall budget of his films would be in the range of 185 to 195 crores. Doing a backward calculation in the account, his films earn approximately 80 to 90 crores from the sale of satellite and digital."</p>

<p>In the coming year, Akshay Kumar has a huge lineup of films including <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/akshay-kumars-sooryavanshi-ranveer-singhs-83-to-release-in-first-quarter-of-2021-344462">Rohit Shetty’s ‘Sooryavanshi’</a>,<a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/bollywood/news-Akshay-Kumars-first-look-from-Bell-Bottom-revealed-on-his-birthday-326172"> ‘Bell Bottom’</a> which is currently in production, then <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/bollywood/news-atrangi-re-sara-ali-khan-reveals-akshay-kumars-look-as-shah-jahan-351518">‘Atrangi Re’,</a> ‘Bachchan Pandey’, ‘Raksha Bandhan’, ‘Prithviraj’ with Manushi Chillar, and ‘Ram Setu’.</p>

<p>Pankaj Tripathi will be playing a South Indian star in ‘Shakeela’ biopic. The movie is the biopic of South star Shakeela who was one of the leading adult stars in the 90s and early 2000s.</p>

<p>Makers have now revealed the first look poster featuring Pankaj Tripathi. The post is captioned: “First look poster from the film 'Shakeela''. In the poster, the star is seen dressed in fashionable clothes.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Speaking about the role earlier, <a href="https://www.wionews.com/topics/pankaj-tripathi">Pankaj Tripathi</a> said, "I am thrilled that our little labour of love Shakeela is all set to release in theatres this Christmas. I am so excited about the film because I have worked with the very talented friend Richa Chadha in this film. I have a beautiful part in the film. I play an actor for the first time in my career. I have always wanted to play an actor on screen and bring out the idiosyncrasies of artists on screen. It's an interesting and colourful character."</p>

I am so excited about the film because I have worked with the very talented friend Richa Chadha in this film. I have a beautiful part in the film. I play an actor for the first time in my career. I have always wanted to play an actor on screen and bring out the idiosyncrasies of artists on screen. It's an interesting and colourful character." <p>Indian actors Neena Gupta and Kalki Koechlin are set to collaborate for an international film ‘Goldfish’ that will focus on creating awareness about mental health. It will be directed by Pushan Kriplani who developed the script keeping the two actors in mind who are set to play mother-daughter in the drama.</p>

<p>The film is the result of a British-American venture that is being produced by Splendid Films USA.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It will be produced by Amit Saxena and the film is described to be a delicate timeless story of a mother and a daughter, and of a community. Set in London, ‘Goldfish’ deals with memory, music, mental health and identity. Anamika (played by Kalki), the child of a mixed marriage, returns home to her estranged mother Sadhana (Neena Gupta) because she is suffering from the onset of dementia. Anamika returns to a neighbourhood she barely remembers, to a woman who sometimes doesn’t remember her. What ensues next is an unfolding of complex yet beautiful emotions as Sandhana and Anamika’s worlds, though strikingly different, come together.</p>

<p>On confirming the venture, Neena Gupta said, “It’s a very different experience to work with Pushan Kripalani, I’m saying so because I did a very beautiful film with him which he directed called The Threshold, which is on Hotstar. When he came to me with this Goldfish film, the script, I was very excited. Number one because it is a very very challenging role and it's a beautiful script and I love the way Pushan works, there is a lot of freedom which the actors get. It’s a very different experience from the other films, he’s a very special person in my life and I’m very excited to be a part of Goldfish. In fact I’m very nervous because it is a very challenging role.”</p>

<p>Kalki Koechlin added, “I’m very excited working on Goldfish, I’ve been wanting to work with Pushan, the director since I saw his first film Threshold and Neenaji, of course, is an amazing actor, I love her and looking forward to working with her. Also, the writer of the script Arghya is someone I have worked closely within the theatre, he’s done a lot of light design for the productions I have worked on. It's really quite a nice, happy union of different people from my walks of life and I’m very excited to start this project. The script is so fantastic!”</p>

Bollywood actor Rahul Roy shocked his fans as news of him suffering a brain stroke started circulating yesterday while he was shooting in Kargil. It’s said that shooting in extreme conditions has led to this mishap. 'Aashiqui' actor Rahul Roy is reportedly suffering from a condition called Aphasia- a condition where you cannot frame sentences correctly. Rahul was shooting for ‘LAC - Live The Battle’, which is directed by Nitin Kumar Gupta and produced by Chitra Vakil Sharma and Nivedita Basu. He had to be airlifted to Mumbai after the brain stroke. Speaking about the ordeal, producer Nivedita Basu told Mumbai Mirror,“Rahul has been a close friend of the director and he was the first one on the project. Kargil had extreme weather conditions and they had gone up to -12°C and -13°C, so it was just a matter of time when someone would have succumbed to the cold, and I think that’s exactly what happened with Rahul. His one day of the shoot was still left but when we got to know about him, we told Nitin that we need to get him out.” Rahul’s condition is said to be better than before and that “he is safe and recovering well. The recovery will take some time,” confirmed reports. Rahul's right side is affected due to the brain stroke but family is hopeful he will be better.

<p>‘Dil Bechara’ actor Sanjana Sanghi is set to play lead opposite Aditya Roy Kapur. The film is titled ‘Om The Battle Within’ will be directed by Kapil Verma.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sanjana Sanghi had made her Bollywood debut in ‘Dil Bechara’ opposite late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.&nbsp;</p>

<p>‘Om The Battle Within’ is produced by Zee Studios, Ahmed Khan and Shaira Khan. The film will be shot in India and abroad, with shooting expected to end by March next year.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On the film, Ahmed Khan says, “In her debut film, Sanjana handled her role with great maturity and in OM, the character what she plays is of a young girl who handles great responsibilities and she is perfectly suited for it.”</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Sanjana said, “Getting to delve into the action genre so early on, is something I view as an absolute honour and have immense gratitude for to my producers, Ahmed Khan, Zee Studios and my director Kapil for the potential they have seen in me being able to pull of such a unique part in our film. After exploring many scripts and possibilities for a while, Om felt just right since it was the spectrum jump I was looking for in terms of throwing myself into an entirely unchartered territory of a big commercial actioner being executed in a never-seen-before way that is going to present me with new and exciting challenges.”</p>

<p>She added, “My character Kavya is a girl I know each of us young girls in India aspires to be. She is confident, extremely hard working and sharp, empathetic, brave and a crucial tenet of our film. She’s nothing like we’ve ever seen before on celluloid. I’m so excited to bring her to life, and I know I’m going to learn so much from her I’m doing tons of action in the film, and various kinds of training and prep for the same is ongoing. It’s testing and pushing me both physically and mentally, but is so thrilling! Getting to work with Adi is the best part of it all, he’s working so hard for the film and is going to shine.”</p>

<p>For the first time in the history of Bollywood, the three Khans will be part of the same film. Aamir Khan's highly anticipated film 'Laal Singh Chadha' will have Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan in cameo roles. This would be the first time in history that the three superstars would be part of the same film.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
An official remake of 'Forrest Gump', 'Laal Singh Chaddha' will have SRK reprising his role of Raj from 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' and Salman Khan as Prem. The film shows the journey of a man through decades and in the 1990s decade Aamir will chance upon the era's budding stars SRK and Salman.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
"The screenplay weaves in iconic moments from each decade and since we love our matinee idols, Chaddha's journey would be incomplete without certain top stars. So, during this journey of self-discovery, Aamir lands on the sets to meet Shah Rukh around the release of DDLJ and sharing his personal experiences, engages with the wonder world," &nbsp;a source close to the film told a daily recently.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
Talking about Salman Khan's cameo in the film, the source said, "His Prem wooed the audience in the '90s, from 'Maine Pyar Kiya', 'Hum Aapke Hai Koun...!' to 'Hum Saath Saath Hai' and Aamir is keen to get Salman back as Prem in his social dramedy."<br />
<br />
SRK has already shot for his scenes last month which were reportedly directed by Aamir himself.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
The film is being directed by Advait Chandan and co-stars Kareena Kapoor Khan. The film will be releasing in 2021.&nbsp;</p>

‘Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari’ is up for release on November 15 in theatres in India, one of the few films that will see a theatrical release amid cinema hall shutdowns induced by the coronavirus pandemic.

‘Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari’ is up for release on November 15 in theatres in India, one of the few films that will see a theatrical release amid cinema hall shutdowns induced by the coronavirus pandemic. Starring Manoj Bajpayee, Diljit Dosanjh, Fatima Sana Shaikh in pivotal roles, the comedy flick promises to be a fun ride for those looking for a light-weight family entertainer for Diwali weekend binge. In a candid conversation with the film’s lead actress, Fatima Sana Shaikh spoke on expectations from the film and more. WION: How was the filming experience of ‘Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari’? Fatima: I was really excited to begin with. These are the people I look up to for their work. I really love Manoj sir’s work. I love all his roles. I used to have a fangirl moment whenever I was on set. WION: How did you get into the skin of your character, Tulsi? Fatima: I was learning on set. I think Manoj sir, infact would have gotten sick of me as I kept taking his interview on the set, how he did something in some film of his but honestly it was great fun. Diljit is also a sweetheart. He’s always excited and passionate about his work. He’s never sitting idle. He’s either making music or writing something when not acting. He’s constantly active. It was great to be surrounded by such people. Read the film's review here. WION: What are you taking back from the set of ‘Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari’? Fatima: The experience. I am also taking back relationships that I made on the set. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Fatima Sana Shaikh (@fatimasanashaikh) × WION: How was it working on a comedy film? Fatima: Every film is different. I remember when we would shoot for ‘Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari’, there were times when we would do something funny while giving our scenes that would end up in all of us sharing the laughs. This would happen a lot. After a point of time, director Abhishek had to tell us to cut it off and work. He would say ‘I understand that we are doing a comedy film but that's it, we have to make a film’. WION: Your other film ‘Ludo’ also released on the same weekend as ‘Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari’. What can you tell about this project? Fatima: You ask this question to any of the actors associated with the film and they say the same, that they have no idea of what they have done in the film. That's how Anurag Basu dada (the director) works. He will never give you a script. Everybody is as clueless as the other person but that's the beauty of his films. That’s how he creates magic. I personally love every film of his -- be it ‘Jagga Jasoos’. I think everybody who's a part of the film is because of him. No one has the script so why would you sign up for a film -- because it’s Basu’s film. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Fatima Sana Shaikh (@fatimasanashaikh) × WION: How do you choose projects to be a part of? Fatima: I do not have a particular way of picking films. I go by my instinct by and large. There are times when I want to work with a particular director, times when I like a particular script. I think these two things majorly. ‘Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari’ was all three -- cast, director and script. ‘Ludo’ was because of the director. 'Ludo 2' on cards? Anurag Basu, Bhushan Kumar to collaborate again for film's sequel WION: How do you as an actor deal with failures especially after your big-ticket film ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ crashed? Fatima: It is difficult when a film doesn't do well but that would be with anything if you put your heart and soul into a project and it does not do well then it does break you. But at the same time it's taken years to get into this industry so you don't let one fall break you or stop you from chasing your dreams. That's what it was for me. I will keep going. WION: You have been a part of the film industry since you were a kid, as a child artist. What has kept you going? Fatima: Pure love for the cinema. I love acting. There could be no other reason to keep going. WION: Which do you prefer -- Films or Web/TV series? Fatima: Both require work. They are all about experimentation. I want to be a part of everything. WION: Anything you have seen in the recent past that you would recommend people to watch? Fatima: I recently saw ‘Gali Guleiyan’ which is Manoj sir’s film. It's a great film. I am watching a show called ‘This Is Us’. I’m a slow watcher. WION: Filmmakers you want to work with? Fatima: Raju Hirani, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Dibakar Banerjee, Nitesh Tiwari again, Anurag Basu again. 'Chhalaang' review: Rajkummar Rao-Hansal Mehta's jodi delivers yet again
