The mystery spinner took a five-for as India tried to defend a low total of 125 and in the process, he joined Kuldeep Yadav Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in a unique list.

Chakravarthy, who finished with the figures of 5/17 in his four overs, registered the joint-best bowling figures by an Indian against South Africa in T20Is. Before him, Kuldeep had taken 5/17 in Johannesburg in 2023. Chakravarthy also became only the third Indian bowler to take a five-for against South Africa in a T20I alongside Kuldeep and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The bowler also admitted that defending plenty of runs comes with a caveat of going for many runs as well and the franchise accepts that.

"When you are defending those many runs, either of the things happen - you go for plenty of runs or you get teams out within 150. We accept the fact that when you defend so many runs, you can go for plenty of runs," said Bhuvneshwar.

Notably, each time SRH have posted in excess of 250, they have gone for runs too, conceding 246 against Mumbai Indians (target: 278), 262 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (target: 288) and 199 against Delhi Capitals.

Currently, the newly appointed SRH skipper is on international duty with South Africa and will arrive in India on Monday, April 3. South Africa are currently engaged in a two-match ODI series and will have to win the series to secure an automatic spot in the ODI World Cup later in the year. South Africa need to win the series 2-0 while also hoping for Bangladesh to make them a favour.

If Ireland lose one of their matches against Bangladesh in May and South Africa win the series against the Dutch they will book their place in the ODI World Cup and will not need to play in the match.

IPL 2023: Captaincy twist at SRH with Bhuvneshwar Kumar set to lead in Aiden Markram's absence for RR clash

With another heartbreaking result in an ICC event, the senior men's team's wait for a mega title continues since 2013. Post the defeat, many former cricketers have reacted to the T20 WC campaign and opined on the road ahead. Former Indian opener-turned-commentator Virender Sehwag has slammed the senior players and called for the inclusion of young faces who can play fearless cricket.

Sehwag pointed out that senior players are given&nbsp;rest during bilateral series,&nbsp;allowing&nbsp; youngsters to feature in the XI, however, the seniors pip the young guns -- irrespective of their performances in limited opportunities -- and to play the ICC events, where India have been without a title since 2013.
