Ultimate Fighting Championship(UFC) announced on Tuesday that Yas Island in Abu Dhabi will host its events next month in order to ease travel problems for international fighters due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dana White, President of UFC, told a sports channel that it would host four events on UAE's "Fight Island". 

UFC had to cancel six events in March, April and May due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It has been taking place behind closed doors in Florida and Las Vegas with no fans in attendance at the UFC Apex amid social distancing measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the US.

The new fights are due to take place on  July 11, 15, 18 and 25 in "safety zones" for athletes and coaches, White announced.

White said "we're the only ones that are pulling off live sports right now. And if I continue to do fights in the United States, I'm gonna burn out all my American talent," while adding, "So now we've got Yas Island ready to go; it's set up."

White said fighters will train on the beach.
