IPL 2024: Klaasen impresses with quick stumping to dismiss Dhawan - Watch

Match 23 of the IPL 2024 edition sawSunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) edge past Shikhar Dhawan-led Punjab Kings (PBKS) in a thrilling clash, at theMaharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, Chandigarh on Tuesday (April 9). During the game, Punjab were asked to chase down 183. The home side came very close, courtesy ofShashank Singh's 25-ball 46* and Ashutosh Sharma's 33* (15) but lost by two runs.

During Punjab's run-chase, the onus was on skipper Dhawan to provide a good platform to his remaining batters. While he lost Jonny Bairstow early, for a 3-ball 0, the left-hander also departed for 14 (16). Trying to up the ante in the powerplays, Dhawan was stumped out by Heinrich Klaasen off Bhuvneshwar Kumar's third over.

On the fourth ball of the 5th over, by Bhuvi, Dhawan danced down the track -- with keeper Klaasen standing close to the stumps -- to get himout. Here is the video:

Notably, this became the eighth time that Dhawan wasstumped out in the IPL --joint-most for any batter, alongside Suresh Raina andRobin Uthappa. After his dismissal, Punjab were tottering at 91-5 and needed 78 off the last 30 balls. However, Shashank -- who won his side a close game versus Gujarat Titans (GT) -- and Ashutosh gave SRH a scare before Pat Cummins & Co. emerged on top by a whisker.

Earlier in the game, SRH were asked to bat first and were soon reduced to 39-3 and 100 for 5 before Nitish Reddy's 64 propelled his side to a competitive 182 for 9. One-time winners Hyderabad eventually prevailed on top to add two vital points to their kitty.

SRH occupy the fifth spot in the points table whereas inconsistent Punjab are a spot below, with two wins and three losses.
