Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem created history by securing gold in the men's javelin final at the Paris Olympics on Thursday (Aug 8). Arshad took the first spot and historic gold with a record-breaking throw at the Olympics -- 92.97m -- as India's Neeraj Chopra settled for silver (89.45m) whereas Grenada's Anderson Peters secured bronze (88.54m).

Arshad rewrote the history books by clocking the 90m-mark in the Olympic final. As a result, he became the first individual athlete from Pakistan to win gold at the Olympics. After his herculean effort, the Pakistani javelin thrower was in tears. He won his country's first-ever track and field medal and its first medal in 32 years at an Olympic event.

Thus, Arshad was uncontrollable after the historic win. Emotions got the better of him as the athlete -- who was also struggling to get a new javelin five months back -- broke down and was emotional and overwhelmed. Here is the video:

Talking about Neeraj, India's pride became the second Indian male athlete to win multiple Olympic medals in post-independence after Sushil Kumar. Neeraj has vowed to make a strong comeback after missing out on gold in Paris 2024.

While Neeraj couldn't retain his title at the mega event, the 26-year-old won his country its fifth medal at the ongoing Paris Games.
