The Chicago Bears have selected USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams as the first overall pick in the National Football League (NFL) Draft 2024. The Bears had exchanged their 2023 first pick with the Carolina Panthers for four picks in 2024 draft along with the one in the first-round plus wide receiver (WR) DJ Moore. The Bears didn't show interest in any other QB than Williams.

"I didn't know how I was going to react in the moment," Williams said after the draft. "I was trying to think through it in my head throughout the process, but nothing feels better than actually being in the moment, actually getting that call. You know, I don't feel nervous, I don't feel any of that. I was anxious and ready to go, just ready to get the call so I could walk out there on stage and just finally be back on a team is honestly what I'm excited for," he added.

The Bears added WR Rome Odunze, from Washington, to help out Williams on the gridiron along with Moore and Keenan Allen as well. The four players even worked out together last week in Los Angeles.

Speaking on the joint practice, Odunze said: "I learned a lot. It was a great workout, just four of us getting better, working on our craft. That's exactly what it was. I see that Keenan's smooth. I see how explosive DJ is. And I see that Caleb can sling the ball wherever he chooses. I'm super excited to work with that group now, officially, and I think we can do special things."

Williams was zeroed in on by the Bears earlier this offseason itself when they sent their QB Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a conditional 2025 sixth-round pick. Fields was selected by the Bears as 11th overall pick in 2021 and played in 38 games for the franchise.
