Denver Nuggets finally took the control of Western Conference semis with 112-97 win against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday (May 14). The win put the defending champions 3-2 ahead in the best of seven series and Nuggets' Nikola Jokic was the the star of it. The big Serb scored 40 points and 13 assists including a touchdown-throw like pass in the third quarter.

The Nuggets were leading 62-57 when Jokic collected the ball off the rim and sent it to Jamal Murray for a dunk. Murray also gestured towards the refs for the points by raising his both arms up in the air - just like the officials call a touchdown in the NFL. Have a look a the video below:

As for the game, Nuggets played like the defending champs through four quarters of the Game 5 and led the Timberwolves in all of them. The first 12 minutes were closely fought with the Wolves scored 26 against Denver's 28. The Nuggets added four more points to their lead as they outscored Minnesota 22-18 in the second quarter.

In the third quarter, Denver went on full offense and dropped 38 points while the Timberwolves could manage only 30. In the final quarter, trailing by 14 points, Minnesota tried hard to match Denver but Mile High scored 24 against Timberwolves 23 to win the game by a difference of 15 points.

For Denver, Aaron Gordon scored 18 points while Murray and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope dropped 16 each apart from Jokic's 40. For Timberwolves, Karl Anthony-Towns top scored with 23 while Rudy Gobert and Anthony Edwards scored 18 each. Nickeil Alexander-Walker also chipped in with 14 points but in the end, the Timberwolves fell well short of their best game.

With two more games left in the series, the Nuggets will be aiming for a place in the West finals in Game 6 only while the Wolves will looking to take the series to the final game at least.
