The BCCI Selection Committee, along with India captain Virat Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri, met in Mumbai on Monday to select India's 15-member squad for the ICC World Cup to be played in England and Wales.

In a press conference, BCCI announced that Virat Kohli will be the captain and Rohit Sharma the vice-captain of Team India. Shikhar Dhawan is also in the squad.

KL Rahul and Vijay Shankar are the big surprises in the squad announcement. He might be considered for the no.4 spot.

MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik are the two wicketkeepers the management has picked. However, in a big surprise, Rishabh Pant has not been included. His chances of getting a cup-up were very high.

Kedar Jadhav, Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja are the three all-rounders of Team India.

Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar are the three crucial pacers for the side. Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal were included as specialist spinners.

The biggest surprise is the no 4 batsman as there were many contenders for the spot including KL Rahul, Dinesh Karthik, Ambati Rayadu and Rishabh Pant.

Shreyas Iyer and Vijay Shankar are also the players who were on the consideration list for the spot.

For the uninitiated, the team announced for the World Cup are provisional selections and can be changed till May 23rd without ICC permission.

The cricket tournament will start from May 30 to July 14, with India's first game to be played against South Africa on June 5.
