IPL 2024: DC captain Rishabh Pant has been fined yet again
Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rateduring the IPL match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the ACA-VDCS Cricket Stadium in Vizag on Wednesday (Apr 3).
While Pant was fined Rs 24 lakhs ($29,000), the rest of the team, including the impact player, was fined Rs 6 lakh ($7,000) each or 25 per cent of their match fees individually.
"Rishabh Pant, the Delhi Capitals captain, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam on April 3," the IPL stated.
It was due to the slow over rate that DC were forced to keep an extra fielder inside the ring in the last over of the innings while KKR piled on a massive total.

Pant's previous offence
Previously, Pant was fined Rs 12 lakh ($15,000) for maintaining aslow over-rate during the match against Chennai Super Kings last week.
“As it was his team’s inaugural offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct concerning minimum over rate violations, Pant was fined INR 12 lakh," read the statement at the time.
If Pant is found guilty of slow over-rate for the third time this season, he will be fined Rs 30 lakh and will have to serve a one-match ban. Meanwhile, his teammates will have to shell out a fine of Rs 12 lakh or 50 per cent of their match fee, whichever is lesser.
As for the match against KKR, DC suffered a humbling defeat as the two-time champions won the match by a whopping margin of 106 runs. Riding on lethal ball-striking from Sunil Narine, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Andre Russell, KKR posted 272 runs on the board - the second-highest total in tournament history.
Chasing the target, DC never looked in the game and lost four wickets within the powerplay. If it wasn't for Pant's enterprising 55-run knock, the deficit could have been greater and might have done irreparable damage to the net run rate.
