Two children were killed in firing on a school van in Pakistan's Punjab province on Thursday (Aug 22) while six others were injured, police and officials said.
According to the authorities, the driver of the school van who was among the injured, appears to be the target of the attack.
"Our initial investigations indicate that the driver had an enmity with someone," Mohammad Shakil, a local police official, was quoted as saying by the Associated Press.
Police were still investigating to determine who was behind the firing.
At the time of filing this report, no terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The dead and wounded were transported to a nearby hospital, Ghias Gull, a district police chief in Attock, where the shooting occurred was quoted as saying by the Associated Press.
Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi denounced the attack and called forthe best possible medical treatment to be provided to the wounded.

Attock is about 420 km north of Punjab's provincial capital Lahorebut is not far away from the country's restive northwest region.
Terroristattacks have surged in Pakistan in recent years, mostly in the northwest bordering Afghanistan. In 2014, Pakistani militants in the worst assault on an army-run school in the northwestern city of Peshawar killed 147 people, including 132 children.
