'Despicable insinuation' of Pakistan on 2014 school attack draws India’s fury at UN

The 'despicable insinuation' made by the Foreign Minister of Pakistan dishonours the memory of innocent lives lost to militant attack on a school in Pakistan in 2014, said Indian Counsellor in the Permanent Mission to the United Nations, Eenam Gambhir, on Saturday.

Gambhir's speech came after Pakistan's Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi insinuated in his speech to the UN general assembly on Saturday that India was linked to the massacre of children in a 2014 terrorist attack on a school in Peshawar.

Gambhir added that Pakistan was having the taste of its own medicine where it couldn't manage the militancy fuelled by its state. Can Pakistan deny that it's the host and patron of 132 of the UN designated terrorists and 22 terrorist entities sanctioned under the 1267 and 1988 UN Security Council Sanctions regime as of today, asked Gambhir.

On December 16, 2014, six gunmen affiliated with the militant organization Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had opened fire on the Army Public School in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar, killing 149.

India has long accused Pakistan of encouraging separatist Muslim militants fighting Indian rule in the Indian part of Kashmir. The militants occasionally launch bloody attacks in Indian towns and cities.

India, earlier this month, decided to drop the idea of the proposed meeting with Pakistan, the first such high-level talk planned in years between the nuclear rivals, with the newly elected government in Pakistan, to protest the killing of Indian security personnel.
