Afghan, Pakistani forces clash near disputed border: Afghan official

An Afghan official has alleged Pakistani forces for crossing into eastern Afghanistan and clashing with Afghan troops.

According to Colonel Abdul Hanan, the acting provincial police chief in the eastern Khost province, the clash broke out earlier today and is currently underway. 

Hanan did not confirm reports of the number casualties.

Both Afghanistan and Pakistan have shared a history of hurling accusations at each other for failing to crack down on militants operating along the porous border.

Meanwhile, a Taliban-led attack on an Afghan checkpoint killed at least 11, officials noted. A spokesman reported two other forces wounded in the attack that took place on late Saturday. 

According to reports, three insurgents were killed while four others were wounded. The attack, reportedly, targeted members of the Local Uprising Forces, militias supported by the government.

While no one claimed the attack, an Afghan official blamed the attack on the Taliban.
