Narayanan, who currently serves as the Director of ISRO's rocket and satellite engine development facility, will take charge from January 14th, barely a week from now. Dr. V. <p>Delhi woke up to a blanket of dense fog on Wednesday, as a cold wave swept across the city, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures along with chilly winds, resulting in reduced visibility. The minimum temperature is expected to plunge to 8 degrees Celsius for the day, whilst the maximum temperature is anticipated to remain at 16 degrees Celsius, along with "very dense fog," as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD).</p>

Dr V Narayanan: The rocket scientist who will now lead ISRO

<p>India Chief Election Commissioner, Rajiv Kumar, on Tuesday (Jan 7) announced the schedule for the Delhi assembly elections. During a press conference at the plenary hall of New Delhi&rsquo;s Vigyan Bhawan, the top poll body announced that elections will be held in Delhi in a single phase on February 5. Results will be declared on February 8.</p>
<p>Kumar tackled concerns over voting percentage and EVM credibility with his signature poetic style during the press conference. In a unique approach, he recited a few "shayaris", Urdu couplets, to convey his stance on these issues.</p>
<p>&ldquo;Sab sawaal ki ehmiyat rakhte hain, jawab toh banta hai. Aadatan qalam-band jawab dete rahe, aaj roobaru bhi banta hai. Kya pata kal ho na ho, aaj jawab toh banta hai," said Kumar.</p>
<p>This roughly translates to: Every question holds importance, hence, they must be answered. Usually, I've given written responses, today I'll face you in person too. Who knows what tomorrow may bring, but today I'll respond.</p>

<p>To this, Kumar said, &ldquo;Aaropon aur ilzamaat ka daur chale, koi gila nahi. Jhooth ke gubbaron ko bulandi mile, koi shikwa nahi. Har parinaam mein pramaand dete hain par woh bina saboot shakk ki nayi duniya raunak karte hain. Aur shakk ka ilaaj toh haqeem luqman ke paas bhi nahi."</p>
<p>This translates to: Let the cycle of accusations and allegations continue, I have no complaints. Let the bubbles of lies soar high, I have no grievances. <p>The alleged incident took place on Sunday (Jan 5) in Gwalior city, and according to reports, the accused, aged 25, was also arrested, said the police on Monday (Jan 6).</p>
<p>The victim, who was set to appear for an exam, was staying in the girls' hostel of the Gajraraja Medical College, said City Superintendent of Police Ashok Jadon.</p>
<p>The accused called the woman to meet him at an old hostel for boys, which is now lying abandoned, said Jadon.</p>
<p>She was later threatened and raped upon reaching the uninhabited facility, said the police.</p>
<p>The accused is also a junior doctor and studied with the victim.</p>
<p>The victim lodged a complaint at Kampu police station in Gwalior, prompting authorities to arrest the accused and charge him under applicable laws, according to police.</p>
<p>Further probe is underway in the incident.</p>

<p>While medical research has been continuously advancing, the recent outbreak of human metapneumovirus (HMPV) in China has raised concerning questions. Despite the fact that the virus was first discovered in 2001, 24 years ago, there is still no vaccine for the disease.</p>

<p>Surgical Oncologist Vishal Rao, Bengaluru&rsquo;s HCG Hospital has said that if you have received three doses of COVID-19 vaccine, you likely have immunity to combat HMPV, according to PTI.</p>
<p>&ldquo;If you have taken a flu shot, the three vaccine doses of COVID virus, you already have immunity&hellip;This is not something that will spread by me talking or breathing like COVID. <p>HMPV was first detected by Dutch scholars in 2001 in nasopharyngeal aspirate samples, mucus or fluid samples from the upper part of the throat. The samples were taken from children with respiratory illnesses due to unknown pathogens, as per the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).&nbsp;</p>
<p>The virus belongs to the Pneumoviridae family and results in flu-like symptoms in individuals, especially children and the elderly. However, even after 24 years, the vaccine for HMPV is still not developed.</p>
