Advocate Kumar Dushyant Singh, representing Devi, had sought the child's custody and alleged her estranged daughter-in-law had kept the child's location under wraps.
He had argued a child below six years of age should not be sent to a boarding school and relied on photos to show the petitioner interacting with the child when he was only a couple of years old.
The apex court had then directed the child to be produced in court on the next hearing on January 20 and said the case couldn't be decided based on a media trial.
"It's not a media trial. It's a court trial which can pronounce a person guilty," added the top court while posting the matter for hearing on January 20.&nbsp;

Currently, the draft law is being vetted by the law ministry and it is likely to be brought in Parliament in the second half of the Budget session,"a source said.
The Budget session is scheduled from January 31 to April 4. The first half (January 31-February 13) will start with President Droupadi Murmu's address to the joint sitting of Lok Sabha and Raya Sabha followed by the tabling of the Economic Survey for 2024-25. The Union Budget for 2025-26 will be presented on February 1.
Parliament will reconvene on March 10 and will sit through April 4.
Pursuant to the Budget announcement by Sitharaman for a comprehensive review of the I-T Act, 1961, the CBDT had set up an internal committee to oversee the review and make the Act concise, clear, and easy to understand, which will reduce disputes, litigation, and provide greater tax certainty to taxpayers. Public inputs and suggestions were invited in four categories -- simplification of language, litigation reduction, compliance reduction, and redundant/obsolete provisions.

The victim&rsquo;s mother said there was enough evidence to prove Roy guilty, but claimed the investigation was half-done as other suspects allegedly involved were roaming freely.

Hyderabad Police continued the hunt on Friday for two Bidar heist suspects who opened fire on manager of a private travel agency in the Afzalgunj area.
Police formed eight special teams to track down the suspects who escaped towards Tank Bund in an autorickshaw. After analysing the CCTV footage, the police found that the offenders headed towards Tank Bund in the three-wheeler. Police were trying to trace their movement from Tank Bund.
The suspects are believed to have escaped towards Secunderabad. Police personnel checked vehicles around railway and bus stations to prevent them from fleeing.
Meanwhile, a team of Bidar Police also reached Hyderabad for investigation. They suspect that the accused hail from Madhya Pradesh and were trying to escape via Raipur in Chhattisgarh.
One of the two men who are suspected to be involved in a Rs 93 lakh ($107,373) robbery in Bidar town of Karnataka, opened fire on the manager of a private travel agency in Afzalgunj when the latter found their movements suspicious and demanded them to open the bags they were carrying while boarding a bus to Raipur.
Jahangir, Roshan Travels' ticket manager, was injured and admitted to Princess Essra Hospital in the old city. According to Moazzam of Roshan Travels, two persons came to the agency office to book tickets to Raipur in the name of Amit Kumar.
They boarded a minibus that was to take them and other passengers to the city outskirts, from where the bus for Raipur was to start. As the two men were found to be suspicious, the ticket manager insisted that they open their bags when they boarded the bus. One of them tried to hand over a bundle of currency notes to silence him.
However, Jahangir refused to take the money and ordered them to open the bags. One of them pulled out a weapon and opened fire on Jahangir.
The duo escaped towards Osmania Hospital. A couple of policemen from Karnataka were also on the bus. They were also going to Raipur for an investigation into another case.

The fresh move of protesting farmers came a day after a group of 111 farmers began a fast-unto-death on the Haryana side of the border near Khanauri in solidarity with fasting farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, whose fast-unto-death entered its 52nd day on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters at the Shambhu border point between Punjab and Haryana on Thursday, Pandher, who is the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha leader, slammed the central government for not accepting the demands of farmers who have been camping at the Shambhu and Khanauri for the last 11 months.
"Both the forums (SKM-Non Political, KMM) today decided that the 'jatha' of 101 farmers will resume their march to Delhi on January 21 from the Shambhu border," said Pandher.
"We have seen and we also feel that the government is not ready for any talks. It was the decision of both the forums to intensify the agitation," said Pandher.
On January 15, a group of 111 farmers began a fast-unto-death in solidarity with their leader Dallewal and vowed they wouldn't relent until their demands were met.
The new 'jatha' sat on the Haryana side of the border -- Dallewal has been sitting on a hunger strike since November 26 last year at the Khanauri border point on the Punjab side.
The Haryana Police has enhanced security on its side of the border. It has already imposed Section 163 of Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, banning gatherings of five or more people.
The protesting farmers have expressed concern over Dallewal's "deteriorating" health, saying he risks "multiple organ failure" because of the prolonged fasting.
Dallewal, who is the convener of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political), has been on an indefinite hunger strike at the Khanauri border point between Punjab and Haryana since November 26 last year.
Farmers, under the banner of the SKM (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, have been camping at the Shambhu and Khanauri border points between Punjab and Haryana since February 13 last year, after security forces did not allow them to march to Delhi to press for their various demands including a legal guarantee for MSP for their crops.

Earlier, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended the name of Patna High Court Chief Justice Chandran for elevation as a judge of the Apex Court.
"While recommending his name, the Collegium has taken into consideration the fact that there is no representation on the Bench of the Supreme Court from the High Court of Kerala," said a statement released by SC Collegium.
Justice Chandran was appointed as a judge of the Kerala High Court in November 2011 and was elevated to the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court on March 29, 2023.
"He has served as a Judge of the High Court for more than 11 years and as a Chief Justice of a big High Court for more than a year. During his long tenure as a Judge and Chief Justice of the High Court, Mr Justice Chandran has acquired significant experience in diverse fields of law," the SC Collegium said.
In its meeting, the apex court Collegium deliberated on and discussed the names of Chief Justices and senior puisne judges of the High Courts eligible for appointment to the Supreme Court.
Born on April 25, 1963, Justice Chandran stands at serial no. 13 in the combined all-India seniority of High Court Judges.
He obtained a law degree from Thiruvananthapuram's Kerala Law Academy Law College and started practice in 1991.
Before elevation, he served as Special Government Pleader (Taxes) of the Kerala government from 2007 to 2011.

Pollution management authorities in the Indian national capital Thursday (Jan 16) lifted curbs introduced a day earlier aimed at reining in the rising air quality index (AQI). The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), in a statement, said that air quality in Delhi and nearby cities had improved following overnight rains, prompting the withdrawal of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) level 4 restrictions. Under GRAP, a set of rules and restrictions are implemented once the AQI goes above a certain level. GRAP-4 is invoked when AQI soars above the 400-mark.
The CAQM added that the GRAP-3 restrictions will remain in place.

As reported in the Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB) bulletin, Delhi&rsquo;s AQI today hovered around the 300-mark. It added that Delhi&rsquo;s air quality is expected to stay in &lsquo;very poor&rsquo; category in the coming days.
"As per the dynamic model and forecasts for meteorological conditions and air quality index made available by IMD/IITM, the overall air quality of Delhi is likely to stay in the lower end of the 'Very Poor' category in the coming days."
