Refugee colonies that have been established since 1947, such as Rajendra Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, and Kingsway Camp, currently have people on lease; they cannot sell or buy the land. We will grant ownership rights to all these refugees who have land on lease in these colonies in the first Cabinet meeting," Shah added.
The Home Minister also announced the establishment of a Workers Welfare Board in Delhi which will ensure that all workers have life insurance coverage of up to 10 lakh and accident insurance of up to 5 lakh.
"We will apply the same formula for textile workers. We will provide Rs 10,000 as assistance to workers, and for registered workers, we will offer loans up to 3 lakh to enhance skills and businesses," he said.
 He further highlighted that the BJP would provide 50,000 government jobs to the youth of Delhi without any corruption.
"By creating 20 lakh self-employment opportunities, we will help the youth find employment. Through an investment of 20,000 crore, we will develop an integrated public transport network and convert 13,000 buses into electric buses, making Delhi a 100% electric bus city under the BJP government," he said.
He also underlined that to promote tourism, they will collaborate with the Uttar Pradesh and Haryana governments to create a Mahabharata corridor.
"We will develop the Yamuna Riverfront, similar to the Sabarmati Riverfront. I would like to invite Kejriwal to join us after 3 years of our government to take a dip in the Yamuna with his family. We will end manual scavenging 100% and eliminate this inhumane practice completely," he said,

He said, "For every pregnant woman, we will provide financial assistance of Rs 12,000 and give six nutrition kits. LPG cylinders will be available for Rs 500, and BJP will provide one free LPG cylinder to every sister on Holi and Diwali. Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, we will provide free treatment up to 5 lakh in the first Cabinet meeting to every poor person. Any treatment beyond 5 lakh will be covered by the Delhi government, ensuring that every poor person in Delhi receives treatment up to 10 lakh at no cost, even at major hospitals."
He also mentioned that the BJP government would increase the pension for senior citizens from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500 per month.
"For women's welfare, we will increase the pension for widows and destitute women from 2,500 Rs to 3,000 Rs per month. We will establish Atal Canteens in JJ Clusters, providing nutritious meals for just Rs 5," he said.
"We will give a corruption-free and transparent state government. Scheduled caste and scheduled tribe students will receive 1,000 Rs per month under the Ambedkar Stipend Scheme. Auto and taxi drivers will receive 10 lakh life insurance and 5 lakh accident insurance. A welfare board will be set up for domestic workers, and we will provide six months of paid maternity leave to mothers. We will double the PM Swanidhi scheme and provide financial aid to street vendors," he said.
The Delhi assembly elections will take place in a single phase on February 5. The counting of votes will happen on February 8.

"The Constituent Assembly, after nearly three years of debates, adopted the Constitution on 26th of November in 1949. That day, 26th November, has been celebrated as Samvidhan Divas, that is, Constitution Day, since 2015. Republic Day is indeed a matter of collective joy and pride for all citizens. Seventy-five years, someone might say, is only the blink of an eye in the life of a nation. No, I will say, not these past 75 years," the President said.

Justice, liberty, equality and fraternity are not theoretical concepts that we came to learn in modern times; they have always been part of our civilisational heritage".

Khalistani terrorist Arshdeep Singh Gill, also known as Arsh Dalla, is currently based in Canada, where he's been arrested and released on bail. India has been seeking his extradition, as he's wanted in connection with over 50 cases of murder, attempted murder, extortion, and terrorist acts.
He was designed as a "terrorist" in January 2004. Sources suggest he has been in touch with the Pakistani spy agency ISI. Dalla was arrested last October after he was injured in an attack. Since then, India has been trying to extradite him, but he secured bail in December.
Anmol Bishnoi
Anmol Bishnoi is the younger brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and is wanted in India for several high-profile cases, including the murders of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and politician Baba Siddique. Lawrence runs the dreaded Bishnoi gang from a jail in India.&nbsp;
Anmol was arrested in the US last November for entering the country without valid documents. Intelligence sources had indicated he could not extradited so soon despite a custody request from Delhi.
Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi
Nirav Modi, a diamond merchant, and his uncle Mehul Choksi are at the centre of the massive Rs 14,000 crore PNB loan fraud case. They're accused of colluding with the bank's officials to perpetrate the fraud, which involved issuing fake letters of undertaking to secure overseas loans without adequate collateral.
Nirav Modi left the country in 2018 and was arrested in London the same year. Lodged in a UK jail now, he has lost all his petitions against extradition to India so far. Mehul Choksi is now in Antigua.

Vijay Mallya, the embattled liquor tycoon, fled India in 2016 amidst a massive loan default scandal exceeding Rs 9,000 crore. Currently residing in the UK, Mallya faces charges of fraud in connection with the downfall of his defunct airline, Kingfisher Airlines.
He was declared a fugitive in 2019. India is in a long legal fight for the custody of Mallya, which is unlikely to end anytime soon. Back home, a CBI court issued a fresh non-bailable warrant against him last year in a separate Rs 180 crore loan default case.
Besides this list, there are several other offenders that India is trying to bring back including Sanjay Bhandari, an arms deal consultant, who is in the UK and faces charges of tax evasion and money laundering.&nbsp;
Sourabh Chandrakar, promoter of the Mahadev betting app, is also facing extradition over money laundering charges after his arrest in Dubai in 2023. 
It was reported then that he had been kept under "house detention" amid efforts by Indian agencies to secure his deportation.

From Vijay Mallya to Nirav Modi: 5 India fugitives facing extradition

In a surprise move, YSRCP Rajya Sabha member and party general secretary V Vijayasai Reddy on Friday (Jan 24) announced his decision to quit politics, saying that he will be resigning from his parliament membership on January 25. Further, he said agriculture will be his future.
Reddy, who is also the party's floor leader in the Upper House, said he is not joining any other political party.
Reddy, 67, is currently serving his second term as a Rajya Sabha member from Andhra Pradesh. He still has more than three years left in his term.
He is the fourth YSRCP Rajya Sabha member to resign from the party after its rout in the 2024 Assembly elections.
"I am quitting politics. I am resigning from the Rajya Sabha membership tomorrow, (January) 25th. I will not join any political party. I am not resigning hoping for any position, benefits, or money. This decision is completely my personal one. There was no pressure. No one influenced me," he said in a post on 'X'.
Reddy, who was one of the key figures in former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSRCP in the state, said he was indebted to the YS Rajasekhar Reddy family, which has supported him for four decades and three generations.
The announcement by Reddy came at the time when Jagan is in London on a personal trip.
He also thanked YSRCP supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for giving Rajya Sabha the opportunity twice and also the latter's wife YS Bharati for elevating him to a higher pedestal.
"I worked with honesty as parliamentary party leader, Rajya Sabha floor leader and party (YSRCP) national general secretary for the benefit of the party and the state. I worked as a bridge between the Centre and the state," he said.
Delving on ruling TDP, Vijayasai Reddy noted that he only differed with it politically and did not have any personal differences with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's family.
Moreover, he highlighted that he always had a friendship with Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
Additionally, the veteran YSRCP leader thanked the people of the state, friends, colleagues and party cadres for honouring him in his long political journey.
"Special thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for encouraging me for almost nine years, giving me immense strength and courage, and giving me recognition in the Telugu states," the 67-year-old Reddy said.

'Will bring them back': India responds after US launches crackdown on illegal immigrants

A 47-year-old woman was killed in a tiger attack at Priyadarshini Estate at Mananthavady village in the Wayanad district of Kerala state in India on Friday morning, sparking intense protests by locals in the area.
The victim, Radha, who belonged to a scheduled caste, was mauled by the tiger while she was out plucking coffee at the estate in the morning.
The incident occurred a day after Kerala Forest Minister A K Saseendran claimed in the state assembly that human-animal conflicts were declining in the state and the government was taking effective action.

The locals staged a protest in front of O R Kelu, the Minister for the Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes, when he visited the area. Later, the minister told reporters that an order to kill or capture the tiger was issued as demanded by the people of the area.

In 2024, women stole the limelight at the 75th Republic Day parade with ample representation in every element of the ceremonial event, including the flypast, mechanised columns, marching contingents, bands, and the cultural extravaganza, as tens of thousands of spectators braved cold temperatures and congregated around Kartavya Path to be a part of the celebrations centred around the theme of Nari Shakti.
For the first time in Republic Day history, instead of the traditional military bands, the parade was heralded by 112 women artists playing a variety of Indian musical instruments from across the country, including folk and tribal percussion instruments.
