The crackdown on terror continued in Jammu and Kashmir as authorities dismantling the terrorist infrastructure blew up the house of another suspected terrorist in Shopian on Saturday.&nbsp; In the latest operation, the house of Adnan Shafi, an active Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist, was blown up in Zainapora area of Shopian district. Earlier in the day, the residence of Farooq Ahmad Tadwa, currently based out of Pakistan, in Kalaroos area of Kupwara district in north Kashmir was bombed by the authorities.

Making a veiled reference to the Pahalgam terror attack and sharing his views on the response required to deal with terrorism, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Saturday that non-violence is in the basic nature of Hindus, but destroying the oppressor is also a key part of our religion.

The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April, during which at least 26 people were killed and many more injured. &nbsp;The members of the Security Council expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government of India and Government of Nepal and wished a speedy and full recovery to those who were injured.
The members of the Security Council reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security.

This year, 5 batches, each consisting of 50 Yatris, and 10 batches, each consisting of 50 Yatris, are scheduled to travel through Uttarakhand State crossing over at Lipulekh Pass, and through Sikkim State crossing over at Nathu La Pass, respectively. In the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam in which 26 people were killed, tensions have escalated along the Line of Control (LoC), especially in the border district of Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir (J&amp;K). Salotri, the last Indian village situated right across from Pakistani military posts, is witnessing a flurry of activity as residents clean out and stock their underground bunkers, anxious but prepared for any escalation in cross-border hostilities.
The villagers, residing at the very edge of the LoC, have begun reinforcing their bunkers after Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violations over the past two days.&nbsp;
Pakistani forces have been targeting Indian positions with small-arms fire, drawing a "strong and appropriate response" from the Indian Army, according to official sources. No casualties have been reported so far.
Salotri residents credit their sense of security to the bunkers provided by the central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. These reinforced shelters, built about 10 feet underground, are reportedly bulletproof and well-structured to provide safety during shelling and firing incidents.

Rajasthan's Water resources minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Suresh Singh Rawat launched a no holds barred attack on Pakistan on Saturday, claiming that the neighbouring country "kills our people while drinking water from our land," blaming them for the Pahalgam terror attack which took place on April 22.
The minister further claimed that if the water of the Indus River flowed from Pakistan to India instead, then the country would have obstructed the river long ago; however, India fulfilled its responsibility, but Pakistan drank the same water and killed our people instead.
"If the water from the rivers in the treaty were flowing from Pakistan to India, Pakistan would have obstructed it long back. Upholding their responsibility, India gave Pakistan water, but even after drinking the water that comes from our land, they are killing our people," the minister told ANI.

Terror attack in India: Pakistani diplomat make threatening gesture to protesting Indian diaspora in London

In Bandipora, a Lashkar-e-Taliba (LeT) terrorist associate was killed by the security forces during an encounter on Friday.
The terrorist associate was identified as Altaf Lalli of the Lashkar-e-Taiba outfit.&nbsp;
Two security personnel were also injured in the exchange of fire in the Kulnar area of Ajas in the district.
According to the police officials, the two policemen suffered gunshot wounds and were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, where their condition is said to be stable.&nbsp;
The security forces had launched a search operation in the area based on the intelligence input regarding the presence of terrorists, following which the fighting ensued.

Pahalgam attack: Union Minister Puri slams Bilawal’s provocative remark, says Pakistan in ‘terminal decline’

<a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/tahawwur-hussain-rana">Tahawwur Hussain Rana</a>, the key accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks was interrogated by the Mumbai crime branch team for over eight hours in New Delhi as he remains in National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody, officials said on Saturday.&nbsp;
The crime branch team comprising four officers questioned Rana on Wednesday for his alleged role in the conspiracy of the Mumbai terror attacks, an official said.&nbsp;
However, during the questioning, Rana gave evasive answers and did not cooperate, the official said. But, the official did not give any further information.

Earlier also, Headley admitted to conducting recce missions across India, including in Mumbai, on behalf of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Having held postings in <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/srinagar">Srinagar</a>, Banihal, and Kathua, his perspective bridges tactical military understanding with the ground realities of life and travel in the region.
&ldquo;We didn&rsquo;t have a strike like this,&rdquo; he recalled with conviction. &ldquo;These areas were always well protected. They never attacked there&mdash;they attacked elsewhere.&rdquo;
<h2>'Pahalgam is not a small area'</h2>
This distinction, he explained, was due to tight security perimeters maintained around Army camps, often extending 2&ndash;3 kilometers, reinforced by constant patrolling and surveillance. Banihal, in particular, was a strategically crucial location during his service. &ldquo;Our job was to not let them reach Banihal,&rdquo; he added.
Colonel Shailendra Singh's reflections on Pahalgam went beyond strategic discourse and into the very essence of its geography and tourism. He said, "Pahalgam is not a small area. It spreads out well beyond the developed zone. Where the road ends, most tourists think that&rsquo;s it&mdash;but the terrain continues, deeply.&rdquo;
The site of the April 22 attack, Baisaran Valley, lies approximately 5-7 kilometers from the main road. Known for its lush meadows and scenic beauty, it is accessible only by foot or on horseback&mdash;usually facilitated by local horsemen, or khachharwalas. This stretch, however, is not part of the formally designated safe zone, which typically extends only 2&ndash;3 kilometers from Pahalgam's main road.
&ldquo;As soon as you cross that tree line, you come to an open area&mdash;beautiful, yes&mdash;but beyond that, it&rsquo;s considered unsafe," he explained.
Meanwhile, in the aftermath of the deadly Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian government held an all-party meeting in New Delhi on Thursday (Apr 24).
During the meeting, security lapse was also discussed in the meeting, Union Minister <a href="https://www.wionews.com/tags/kiren-rijiju">Kiren Rijiju</a> said. He said, "The Defence Minister informed about the incident that happened in Pahalgam and the actions taken by the Indian government in the CCS meeting. This incident is very sad. Due to which everyone in the country is worried, keeping this in mind, the Indian government has also expressed its intention to take more stringent action today..."

"In the interest of national security, all media platforms, news agencies, and social media users are advised to exercise utmost responsibility and adhere strictly to existing laws and regulations while reporting on matters concerning defence and other security-related operations," the ministry said in a post on X.&nbsp;

It further stated that premature disclosure of sensitive information may inadvertently assist hostile elements and endanger operational effectiveness as well as the safety of personnel.
"Specifically: No real-time coverage, dissemination of visuals, or reporting based on "sources-based" information related to defence operations or movement should be undertaken," it stated.
The ministry underscored the past incidents, noting the importance of responsible reporting.

"During events such as the Kargil war, the Mumbai terror attacks (26/11), and the Kandahar hijacking, unrestricted coverage had unintended adverse consequences on national interests," it added.&nbsp;
The ministry stressed that it is a shared moral responsibility to ensure that our collective actions "do not compromise ongoing operations or the security of our forces."
"No programme should be carried in the cable service which contains live coverage of any anti-terrorist operation by security forces, wherein media coverage shall be restricted to periodic briefing by an officer designated by the appropriate Government, till such operation concludes," it read.&nbsp;
This comes after India took big actions against Pakistan after The Resistance Front (TRF) claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir. India has accused Islamabad, its regional rival, of supporting "cross-border terrorism".
India further decided to halt the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan. Notifying Pakistan about the decision, India has highlighted Pakistan's "sustained cross-border terrorism targeting Jammu and Kashmir".

The tourists still in the Kashmir Valley say that they won&rsquo;t let terror win over the brotherhood among Indians.
&ldquo;Our being here is a big response to terrorists. It was a dream to come here, and it&rsquo;s been peaceful here for many years. We came on Monday, and the attack took place on Tuesday; it was very tragic. A lot of people left from here, while many, including us, stayed back. We thought if we left, it would be the win of terrorists. We decided to stay, as our forces are here to protect us, and the people of Kashmir are taking good care of us. We went to Gulmarg, and a lot of things were free for tourists, and there was no fear,&rdquo; said K Jindal, a tourist.

The tourists are appreciating the local support as well as the condemnations, protests, and candlelight vigils that have been taken out in the Union Territory.
&ldquo;We came on the April 23. We had got the news of Pahalgam attack on April 22 but we still came as we know that Kashmir is a good place. We went to Gulmarg and Sonamarg and today we are touring Srinagar. It&rsquo;s a very peaceful place and we have not faced any issues anywhere. The people are ready to help here at every location. Our drivers and tour operators are very cooperative,&rdquo; said Rajesh, a tourist.
The tourists are showing faith in the security forces and locals. They also appreciate how the locals came to the rescue of those injured in the Pahalgam attack.
&ldquo;Everything is peaceful here. When we heard this news, it did play on our minds, but we still came. Looking at the situation, everything looks normal here. The people here are very cooperative. The befitting response to the terrorists will be that tourists keep coming here and foil the plans of terrorists. They want to hit the tourism in the Valley,&rdquo; said Javed, a tourist.

The hoteliers of the Kashmir Valley have been raising the slogan &ldquo;Not in my name&rdquo;. They have been demanding that the government bring the perpetrators of the attack to justice.
&ldquo;Kashmir has always been, it is and it will always be hospitable. This act was done by some animals, and it has nothing to do with my religion. It&rsquo;s not my name. We all got together, and we spoke of only one thing: we want action against those barbarians. All the people of Kashmir have opened their doors to tourists who are happy,&rdquo; said Manzoor Wangnoo, an activist and a hotelier.
The tour and travel operators have been calling for brotherhood among communities and said that this is the time when we all need to stand together.

Locals help tourists in Kashmir, unite in resilience after Pahalgam terror attack

The Jammu and Kashmir police detained a pony service provider after a video of a woman tourist claiming that the man asked her about her religion went viral on social media, officials said on Friday. She also claimed to have seen the terrorists while on a mule ride two days before the attack and that a phone conversation she overheard had scared her.
Immediately after the video went viral, police launched a search for the man who was later detained and identified as Aiyaz Ahmad Jungal of Gohipora Raizan Ganderbal district in north Kashmir. On being questioned he said he was a pony service provider at Thajwas Glacier, Sonamarg, reported The Times of India.
The police is now trying to ascertain any links between the Pahalgam terror attack and the pony service provider.

In the viral video, the woman tourist hailing from Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur claims she had met the suspected terrorists while on a mule ride in Pahalgam on April 20, just two days before the Pahalgam bloodshed.
&ldquo;There was a ponywalla who didn&rsquo;t seem to be part of the group of ponywallas when they were ascending towards Baisaran, but he was walking with them," she said talking to a local TV channel, reported The Times of India.
&ldquo;He asked me from which place you are. I said I am from Rajasthan but now live in UP. He asked me whether I had ever been to Ajmer Dargah. I said no, I&rsquo;ve never been to Ajmer. Then he asked whether I was Hindu or Muslim. I told him I am Hindu. He asked if I had ever read the Quran, and I said no, I hadn&rsquo;t,&rdquo; the woman tourist further claimed.

After he finished the conversation, the woman claims that the man took out his phone from his boots and started saying he was sending 35 people in the valley. She also herd him saying that "plan A has failed" and started talking about guns, the media outlet reported.
