<p>Two-time Olympic medalist and India's ace javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra finally crossed the elusive 90m mark at the 2025 Doha Diamond League on Friday (May 16). Neeraj kicked off the event with a 88.44m throw. His second attempt was not a valid one. He breached the 90m mark in his third attempt. In his fourth attempt, the 27-year-old threw 80.56m, while his fifth throw was not valid and his last throw, he threw 88.20m.</p>
<p>In doing so, Neeraj Chopra became the <span>25th man to cross the 90m mark. Meanwhile, Germany's </span>Julian Weber secured the first position with a throw of 91.06m and Grenadian javelin thrower Anderson Peters settled for the third spot with a throw of 85.64m</p>

<p>It is customary for the apex court to have a ceremonial bench where the outgoing judge sits with the CJI on his or her last working day. It is also customary for the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) to organise a farewell for the outgoing judge on the evening of their last working day.</p>
<p>Presiding over a ceremonial bench held to honour Justice Trivedi, CJI BR Gavai said he &ldquo;deprecated openly&rdquo; the stand taken by the SCBA.<br>&ldquo;The stand taken by the Association, I must deprecate openly because I believe in being plain and straight,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>After facing flak from his party for praising the Centre's handling of the India-Pakistan conflict, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has been approached by the government to be a member of the all-party delegation visiting different countries next week to expose Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.</p>
<p>This comes after Operation Sindoor was launched by India to avenge the killing of 26 Indians by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22.</p>
<p>The government in a bid to expose Pakistan-sponsored terrorism on the global stage has reached out to MPs from multiple political parties, including opposition members, for their participation in the mission.</p>
<h2><strong>Tharoor to lead the delegation?</strong></h2>
<p>According to some media reports, Shashi Tharoor who is also the head of parliamentary panel on foreign affairs in India is likely to head one of the delegations visiting different countries next week.</p>
<p>&ldquo;They want him to lead the delegation, particularly to the US, as he is the chairman of the External Affairs Standing Committee," a source close to Tharoor told news18. Tharoor, has however, requested the government to first consult with the Congress party, added the source.</p>
<p>While the exact number of delegations is yet to be confirmed by the government, the number is likely to be over 30 MPs, reported news agency PTI, citing some leaders.</p>

Delhi weather: Heavy rain brings respite from heat after dust storm deteriorated air quality

<p>Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday slammed Mehbooba Mufti for criticising his efforts to revive the Tulbul Navigation Project and termed it an attempt for &ldquo;cheap publicity&rdquo; and to &ldquo;appease certain sections&rdquo; in Pakistan.</p>
<p>The Tulbul Navigation Project to rejuvenate the Jhelum-fed Wular Lake in Bandipora district was started in 1987 but was stalled in 2007 after Pakistan raised objections.</p>

<p>According to ICG, at 12:15 PM on Wednesday, they received a distress alert from MT Epic Susui, a transiting vessel, reporting the sighting of a small boat adrift with six survivors onboard, approximately 52 nautical miles off the coast of Surathkal, Karnataka. ICG Ship Vikram, which was on routine patrol in the area, was immediately diverted to the location.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Coast Guard team swiftly located and safely recovered all six survivors from the dinghy. Preliminary reports indicate that MSV Salamath, which departed Mangalore Port on May 12, en route to Kadmat Island in Lakshadweep, began flooding at 5:30 AM on May 14, leading to its eventual sinking. The vessel was carrying a mixed cargo of cement and construction materials. The exact cause of flooding remains unknown.</p>
