Under this initiative in the field of skill development, new state-of-the-art laboratories will be established in four of the capital’s ITIs and existing laboratories will be modernised to ensure that the training aligns completely with current industry standards and requirements. Furthermore, this aims to bring about a significant enhancement in employability and technical proficiency.&nbsp;As part of the plan, a dedicated Power Electronics Lab will be established at ITI Jahangirpuri. The facility will offer advanced training in power electronics, electrical control systems, industrial automation and renewable energy. It will be equipped with modern systems such as Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) kits, Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) trainers, transformer trainers, motor control panels, relay and protection systems, solar PV training kits and smart energy monitoring systems. The lab will provide trainees with hands-on experience in operating, diagnosing faults and maintaining modern electrical and power electronics systems. It is expected to evolve into a centre of excellence in power engineering, aligning training closely with industry requirements. Trainees from trades including electrician, electronics mechanic, mechanic auto electrical and electronics (MAEE), solar technician, fitter, mechanic refrigeration and air conditioning (MRAC) and mechanic motor vehicle (MMV) will benefit. A total of 480 trainees can be trained in these trades.&nbsp;At ITI Jail Road (Hari Nagar), the existing welder lab will undergo a comprehensive upgrade. Delhi govt to launch high-tech labs in four ITIs soon: CM Rekha Gupta

The Government-run Indian space agency ISRO has a total of 53 operational satellites circling the Earth. This includes 22 satellites in Low Earth Orbit (about 500-1000kms above the earth) and 31 satellites in Geosynchronous Earth Orbit(about 36,000kms above the Earth, ISRO has revealed. Typically, the satellites placed in Low Earth orbit are meant for Earth-imaging or experiments, while the satellites placed in Geosynchronous orbit are meant for weather observation, communication, navigation.&nbsp;&nbsp;ISRO's&nbsp;Indian Space Situational Awareness Report (ISSAR) for 2025 mentions that there is a growing congestion in Low Earth Orbit, owing to the exponential growth in the number of satellites being placed there and the mounting threat of space debris. The report mentions that the Combined Space Operations Center (CSpOC) of America's USSPACECOM had issued 1,50,000 close approach alerts, which warn operators when satellites and debris pass within a dangerously close distance. Such constant monitoring of space objects is vital for avoiding collisions that could create more debris, which could heighten the risk for safe operations in space. "The program brings together complementary expertise across industry and academia. Unit 3 is in the pre-commissioning phase, and Units 4,5,6 are in various stages of construction. Each of these reactors can generate 1000Megawatts of power. When fully operational, KKNPP would generate about 6,000Megawatts of power. As the Indian government aims to exponentially scale up the country's Nuclear power generation capacity from the existing 8.8Gigawatt to 100Gigawatt by 2047, Russia's Nuclear power agency Rosatom has announced the launch of a pilot training program for nuclear industry specialists in India, developed in strategic partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) and a private firm. The first trial training session commenced on Wednesday, (15th April) at the IIT-Bombay campus and is expected to go on till Friday. Conducted by Rosatom subsidiary JSC Engineering and Technology Center, the program will focus on training using simulators and digital twin technologies for nuclear power plants, supporting practical learning and operational understanding. "The program brings together complementary expertise across industry and academia. JSC Engineering and Technology Center brings experience in simulator and digital twin technologies for nuclear power plants, ProSIM contributes capabilities in physics-based modelling and safety analysis, while IIT Bombay brings academic expertise across nuclear science and engineering disciplines," read a statement from Rosatom. Current training capacity, however, delivers only a limited number of qualified professionals each year, highlighting a critical gap in workforce availability, it was mentioned. “This pilot training at IIT Bombay is more than an educational initiative. It reflects Rosatom’s commitment to supporting the development of India’s nuclear workforce. Alongside advanced technologies, building the capability to operate nuclear infrastructure safely and efficiently will be essential for the sector’s long-term growth,” said a JSC Engineering and Technology Center representative. This training project is expected to attract interest from stakeholders across India’s nuclear ecosystem, including public and private sector organisations, and serve as a foundation for further collaboration in training, research, and technology deployment, it was added. Russia's Rosatom is constructing and operationalizing India's largest Nuclear power project at Kudankulam, Tamil Nadu, in a phased manner. Of the KKNPP's six VVER-1000 reactors, units 1 and 2 were connected to India’s national power grid in 2013 and 2016 respectively, and currently supply electricity to the southern regions of the country. Unit 3 is in the pre-commissioning phase, and Units 4,5,6 are in various stages of construction. Each of these reactors can generate 1000Megawatts of power. When fully operational, KKNPP would generate about 6,000Megawatts of power. At present, KKNPP generates 2,000Megawatts, which is about one-fourth of India's total Nuclear power generating capacity.

While overall visitor numbers remain lower than pre-2025 levels, the success of the Tulip Show 2026 is being seen as a promising start to the tourist season. Authorities remain optimistic that the upward trend will continue, supported by the introduction of new and unexplored destinations across the region. With renewed confidence among travellers and continued efforts by the administration, Kashmir appears set on a gradual path to reclaiming its position as one of India’s premier tourist destinations. “I feel truly happy; it’s an amazing experience. I’m a little disappointed that the flowers have started to fade, but the beauty of the garden, with the mountains in the background, is still breathtaking. I’m enjoying every moment here. This is my first visit, and after seeing the Tulip Garden in reels and pictures, I always wanted to experience it in real life. Being here now, I can truly see how beautiful Kashmir is, so vibrant and colourful, just like a rainbow.” said Kavya, A tourist. Srinagar’s Tulip Garden will be closed to the public from April 16 onwards, as the blooming season has come to an end. By mid-April 2026, nearly four lakh people had visited Asia’s largest tulip garden, according to official figures. The footfall included over 50 per cent domestic tourists from across India, around 1.5 lakh local visitors, and approximately 1,200 foreign nationals.

The Delhi High Court has directed the Police to remove unauthorised video recordings showing former CM Arvind Kejriwal arguing before Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma in the excise policy case. An official said that unauthorised recording of court proceedings is prohibited, according to the Bar &amp; Bench.&nbsp;As per the High Court’s rules on virtual hearings, recording or sharing such videos is not allowed. The official said action is being taken against individuals across social media platforms who uploaded these clips. The official also indicated that the court has taken similar measures in the past and has now taken cognisance of Kejriwal’s video as well.&nbsp;"We have taken steps. It [Kejriwal video] is one of the videos. In the past, we have also taken action, and whenever such instances come to our knowledge, we write to them [law enforcement agencies] to take action," the official said.Previously, Arvind Kejriwal appeared in person before the Delhi High Court on April 13, arguing his application demanding the removal of Justice Sharma from the Delhi excise policy case.
